Waldo's Weekly - Black Friday and Birthday Event 2022 Details
SpannerRider replied to Kyle's topic in Waldo's Weekly
So many fun new models and old favorites, though I am holding out hope that this isn't the full list of rare models to hit the online shop come the Wyrd Birthday Celebration, which we should all clearly be calling it instead of Black Friday henceforth. -
This piece has a ton of detail that gets missed out on at first viewing, the picture size accounting for a bit of that. The conversion work is all spot on, the dancing and outright celebration is excellent, and the heart string playing for the sad pumpkin janitor there is an unexpected touch. Someone has to clean up after the party though.

I have a total soft spot for dioramas that allow the models to be removed for play still, and they are often technically much harder to pull off while still looking good. You have absolutely managed this, everything about this scene is beautifully painted and sculpted and of course it really Will be amazing good fun for all!

I feel that this particular coven would cause pumpkin patches to burst out anywhere they went and I love seeing them on the edge of the patch. This diorama has depth and a ton of atmosphere on top of the individual pieces all being very well painted. Technically the scare crow is undead but that critique of a general lack of undeath seems valid...still it's an awesome work and I am so very happy to see this crew done so well.

This is a stunning case of Trick over treats, I love the dropped bucket of candy, the posture making it obvious that this severed head holding pirate is not what was expected at all. Especially if that head is nattering on at her. That the painted jack-o'-lanterns really do look carved is a subtle but spot on effect.

Well that Death Marshal sure is handling being thrown by her dance partner Mr. Coffin well, and the blue flames are spot on. There is a certain lack of diorama vibes from the piece and the soil looks a bit like it was slathered on and then ignored in spite of the wicked blue ring from the coffin coming through.

Yes the painting isn't the smoothest, but the conversion work and the story of this is just too good to pass up. I adore the tattered clothing and the hat on the horn, and really it's mostly the blending on previously blue now undead skin that needs some work...but I would champion this model all day anyway. Good job, I look forward to more from you.

Yes this is a really clean paint job and I love the colors...but I really really dig the freehand work that made me double check those bugs are paint and not extra sculpt that had been painted. Excellent way to show this swamp dweller isn't alive but still dangerous, the bit of exposed skull on the head is a great touch too.

I adore how he brings his own party wherever he goes with that glowing tentacle effect, rave on the beach. Very solid painting all around, from the seams in the body to yes those fantastic stripes on the trousers, this is an all around good piece. Going to echo that a paler background would show off the work better.

The gore smeared fingers are solid, the glow from the jack-o'-lanterns is good, but the coloring on her seems a touch flat, particularly the bright green, though you blend down from that into her skin tone there seems to be some grades of color missing. Someone wiser in color theory might have a solid suggestion what hues those are.
