Tormented are in a good place? The average Df is 4, no healing, no movement above 5, a third of the crew has Mv4, no scheme runners, one of the in-keyword models in unusable. Asking for the totem to be significant and the crooked man to be less of a slowpoke and easy to kill is a lot more reasonable than increasing the damage output of one of our best crews.

I don't play Jack Daw, and I want to say that first. I've also only played against Outcast Jack. But Outcast Jack is the least fun to play against out of any of the masters in this edition I've played. It's not a fun time if you aren't the one playing Jack. It might not be competetive but it's oppressive, and I think making it both things would just guarantee no one wanting to play with competitive Reader OR Outcast players. This is just my opinion based on what I've personally experienced, mind you, but I just won't feel good about advocating Jack buffs personally unless they were to rework how his crew fundamentally functioned.

  2. I'm shockes how few people like new Hamelin! I know it's no est engine, but it's poetry in motion lining up kills with it now. It's all precision and thibking ahead 20 moves and reorganizing ypur moves every time your opponent counters. It's unintuitive and takes carefully machinized action to work well, but then it works really well. Maybe I'm just biased, but I love this crew a lot and it's one of my favorites to play across the whole edition. (I do prefer Dreamer the most, and admittedly Zipp and Reva are pretty up there, but Hamelin has been my #2 so far.)

    Miss Tery, alt Female Dandy.

Unfortunately that's the same pun as already existing Miss Terious. I imagine having two similar names based on the same pun would become a serious problem during web store sales.

@Everyone taking henchman and master names and just feminizing them/masculinizing them; while it might change, that hasn't ever been the naming convention for these models. Usually masters tend to be a new character that has similiar mechanics in lore (with a few notable exceptions, like Dr. Dufresne), and Henchmen are the same thing but characters from either the books or TTB. The closest we've gotten so something like that to date is the Dead Justice set, but since they haven't gone back to that style of alt since I think it's safe to say we probably aren't getting a Phillipa and the Nanny, etc.

  4. I'd love to see an alternate Seamus! He's one of the original masters and hasn't ever had an alternate version, and since Nicodem and McMorning each have one it'd be nice to have all 3 done :) Maybe as Captain Kari Zotiko from the TTB module The Ferryman? She's a character I'd love to see a model for and her mechanics in TTB are pretty similiar to how Seamus likes to play while still having her own unique flavor.

As far as the Mr/Mrs series goad though? I'd love to see alt McTavish as Miss Calculate (because he's a sniper, and might miscalculate the wind or distance etc?)

  5. Hey everyone! On Thursdays of this month, from 7:00 P.M. EST to 9:00 P.M., Heroes Comics and Gaming will be hosting an achievement league! The league will be free and casual, so come in and just have a good time with other Malifaux players in the area. We'll be using the final beta patch for the duration of the league.

Total monthly count at 189. Tried to get another cluster of models done but there's only so much time in the month, especially with chronic pain, lol!

  7. Most of the community around me has died down; I'm still trying to get it going, but not many people like beta testing when they have 3 other games they play that are in their most up to date form already. Which is fine. I'm trying to make things fun for the few people who are enjoying the game and keep drawing people in, but I was really discouraged last night after a particularly bad night of demos.

But then today I got to experience the awesome flip side of that-- the other LGS in town that carries Malifaux was clearance-ing all of their M2E stock and I picked up $400 of models for under $200, and I just feel great right now and wanted to share but didn't want to disrupt anyone's threads about M3E, so I thought I might ask the rest of you about good things about waiting for the full release to drop since the forum's been so serious and uptight with anxiety around the release lately  :)

  8. Really the only way to do this well is on a terrain board. Malifeaux is oversaturated with color because of its second sun, so it's likely that at night the world looks normal for us. But if you're going for what night would look like to us, paint with muted colors and ideally have points of light radiation that show what the actual color looks like to make clear vis a vis lighting perspective that everything else is in the dark.

  9. I'm very biased (my fav masters are Dreamer, Titania, Catlyn and Tara) but Tara is definitely where I'd go. She's very mechanically defined, a fun twist on summoning, she has the models to support her role as either a beater or control crew and (imo this is really relevant) she's a LOT cheaper to buy into(only $150 for everything she has released rn, and all easily purchased). Leveticus has fun models like Marlena and Ashes and Dust but imo Tara plays more intuitively for people who played M2E Hamelin because she inherited some of his tricks.

  10. I like where it is for Zoraida actually, but she has so many in-keyword models that are synergistic and just do the same job better that I hadn't even really thought to take them.

I couldn't imagine taking them with Zipp though, for a lot of tje same reasons my spouse doesn't take them with their Ma Tucker; it just isn't synergistic enough with the master's abilities. It feels like maybe it's better in henchman lead games but no one really likes running henchman lead crews where I am.

Do you think that's still the case given Mason's departure? Wasn't he the lead on all the books?

Yes. There's a significant lead time on the expansions and they've said numerous times that there's still several projects he finished in the pipeline.

  12. 1) Situational. I like running her both on her own (I love the swampfiends and already had most of them, so I love running her as a smasher) and as a support master (especially for Dreamer), but I find myself activating her earlier in the turn when she's the leader than when I take her with someone else. Never first, but often third or so when she's leading. She's often near the end for me otherwise.

    2) I haven't had enough games to get a good grip on this honestly.

    3) Do you mean go to conditions or go to models to add them?

  13. No wiki, people just internalize it because a lot of lore buffs have been around for years :) I just got into Malifaux a little over half a year ago and what I did is I read everything and summarized each thing in a Google doc to be able to quickly check up and remember what was going on.

  14. Before Mason left he said (iirc) that the Neverborn book should be out late 2019 or early 2020. They usually put out a book a year, it's not unusual for smaller RPG companies, and Wyrd's a mini company with minor resources to RPGs. There's still the occasional Chronicles adventure and an almost monthly penny dreadful. The 10T, Neverborn and Outcast books are still on the way.

Does Malifaux have vampires? Yes, and the reason we can't see them is because they're hiding in plain sight: they're standing in the sunlight and sparkling so brilliantly the eye can't discern their shape. 😉

    Omg I know that's a joke but if that's how Wyrd introduces any non-Penanggalan vampires I will actually cry :( :( :(

  16. Wow! It's been a crazy January! I took an unexpected trip and was out of town for a week and was pulled into Persona 5 for a significant amount of time I hadn't planned on, so I fell short on what I wanted to have painted for this month, but I still did pretty well! Yesterday I finished 3 Bunraku (5SS), Hinamatsu (9SS) and the Mysterious Effigy (4SS).

    large.IMG_2043.jpg.6d92a4637282d614f0f248ad62bb78d0.jpg

That means my total pledge for the month was: 3 Bunraku (5SS), Hinamatsu (9SS), Mysterious Effigy (4SS), 3 Stitched Together (6SS), 2 Beckoners (6SS), Mr. Tannen (6SS) and Mr. Graves (8SS) for a total of 72 SS this month!
