I remember reading somewhere around M2E when they were initially released, that the three knights were supposed to represent different seasons (and Aeslin would represent autumn). Not sure if that was official lore or just a forum conversation somewhere. In any case, that helped me a lot in making painting these three more fun. This one I themed winter-y, the sword gal is summer, and the Harley Quinn lookalike is spring.

But yours look nice - I can imagine creeping that dude towards me, unseen, in a forest somewhere. I'd rather not, but I can!

They were individual models in 2E, each with their own card (spring, summer and winter). So it was very much official lore😉

  2. Hello again.

Sorry for the delay, but I've been contracted by a miniature production company (that I'm currently not allowed to mention), so I had to spend some time sorting out the details about what I can and cannot do publicly as a painter.

Sadly, my contract prohibits me from showing off miniatures from other companies, and I'm not yet allowed to reveal my own work.

That means I'll take a back seat for the monthly challenges, but I'm still allowed to keep the thread going. 😭

So let's see what all you other people got in store for this months painting challenge!

Edit: Bad aprils fools joke from my part. I have no contract, nor do I want any

  3. It's quite clear in the text for Eta Kithae. If a friendly model within :ToS-Aura:4 would heal in excess of it's maximum health it get's shielded.

That means if it's full health and gets a heal, it gets shielded instead. If it has taken 2 damage and heals for 3 or more, it gets both 2 healing and shielded. If it has taken 3 damage and heals for 3 or less it does not get shielded.

There simply isn't any complex timing here.

So now I can post my mini from contest) This time photo was a bit darker than it should be, so here it is with brightness tuned a little.  Pretty happy with owl in general and leg in particular 🙂 For the rest of march planing to finish Calypso and The Beast Withinlarge.2521338A-804D-42F5-BF34-A8936F163342.jpeg.14b8520ea756bfbc891182486704eba3.jpeg

I don't see any owls, but the light looks very good😉

That is a great piece. The backdrop was really excellent and so was the atmosphere. For me it was just below my top 3. Great job!

Thank you! I think I could have made it better if I actually had access to my hobby space and all my usual tools, but I had to make due with a makeshift painting station on the kitchen table 🤣 Most notably I didn't have my magnifying goggles, so my brushcontrol wasn't the best. Due to the rest of the family actually needing the table every now and then I didn't really have enough time to put in the effort I would have liked either.

    But next time....

Does anyone find use for this models in other Neverborn crews? I am on the fence about purchasing that box.

It's a bit of a mixed box I think. Hildegard is very useful when you have a key model you want to protect.

Klaus is more situational. Sometimes exceptionally great, sometimes not at all, depending on what your enemy is putting on the table.

Haven't yet found a good reason to hire Red Caps. Might be there's something I've overlooked, but they don't seem that great on paper.

Has the pledge reporting link disappeared? I couldn't find it in February thread...

Anyway, I've had a solid start of the month with these 4 Young ones (28 stones)

Not sure if we can factor in proxies, these are two stand-ins for Athorak (16 stones)

And I also finally finished Iconic Titania - again, not sure how many soulstones she might be worth?

    @Hawkoon can you advise ? :)

The link should be in the 2'nd post from the top. I'm lazy and just referenced it in instead of writing it up (might be a better way to do this, so I'm open to advice)

I guess we should approve of proxies for unreleased models, the same way we would conversions, so I'll allow it. (even though you painted 2 of the same henchman :P )

When it comes to SS count for the large iconic models, they're quite close to the size of a TOS Titan aren't they? I'd think it's fair to award the same, so 25 SS.

Alright, I've been out for a couple of years, but a few weeks ago two friends all of a sudden asked about Malifaux and sparked a ton of motivation. Plus: The pile of shame is absolutely huge at this point, so I decided to jump back into this challenge. I just pledged for Henchman (11+ SS) - with current motivation levels and a few almost finished minis already, that's not going to be too hard, but I guess it won't stay that way across the year, so we'll see.

I'm currently working on my Viks crew, here's what I painted yesterday - Vanessa Chambers (alternate) and the final Ronin (got the M2E box). Vanessa's cloak is done, everything else still needs details and highlights, and with the flame and metallic staff I have not even started yet. And with the Ronin I only wanted to try a new recipe for ginger hair, so that's pretty much all at this point:

A lot closer to done are the two Viks themselves. Still require some highlights and cleanup. Oh and I'm super uncertain about that enchanted katana - tried one of the Greenstuffworld Color Shift Metallics on it, but I don't know if it reads properly or if should rather just go with standard TMM instead:

Once those four are done, I'll probably move on to these two gentlemen:

    jAjpOPl.jpeg

...or to my huge pile of shame:

    EeHNRA7.jpegSkWyPb8.jpeg

(plus about ten boxes I have not even started assembling yet...)

Welcome back! Always nice to see more people joining in👍Love the 2E Viks and Ronin (I think they are far better sculpts than the 3E versions).

But I have to correct you on one thing... That's no pile... It's more like a marginal-bump-of-shame🤣

@Diddick Well, yes. For the month you finish it, but I won't be finishing my entry in February. (So it will be part of my pledge for March.)

Just for clarity: As the competition has a deadline early March, and participation in Wyrd contests is encouraged, you're all free to count your entry for the February challenge even if you're not finished before March! (but onviously you can't count the same model twice!)

  10. Another month passed, although a short one, and we're here again for next month challenge!

My house is still under renovation, so I have to admit I haven't been the greatest host so far this year, but atleast I can see the end of it now. I promise to be more active once it's finished!

Again I'd like to remind the good people of Wyrd's painitng contest "Cast a spell" that has a deadline 6'th of March.

I'm hard at work to trying to finish my entry in time. (It's going to be a close one I think)

I find these competitions to be a great motivation for getting stuff painted and pushing my skills further. I never participate to win anything, nor do I expect anything in return (outside of painted models and hopefully increased skill). The more people enter the contest, the more interesting for everyone it becomes, so I highly reccomend entering.

Now, I better get back at painting, and wish you all the best of luck for this months challenge and hope to see some of your entries in the galleries!

Thanks for your reply, never thought Vasilisa could be used like this before, really helpful.

Sometimes those shamans just can't provide enough corpses because there's no Mask in my hand. If I put all my effort into growing and just can't get enough corpses, I will probably lose the game. I think I can't turn the tide in this situation without Hayreddin and some precious stones :(

Do you have any good suggestions for this situation? Thanks!

PS: If you want 4 sz3 in turn 2, the M1 should grow in turn 2, or the Y2 won't get enough tokens.

Didn't have my math straight, but I knew it was possible, so changed up the order above, thanks for pointing it out.

If you go for a list like this you either go big or go home so getting the masks are really important. Though there isn't much straight up card draw in the crew, attacking Noxious lets you cycle cards with memories of blood (the once per turn can be done once per model, so you should be able to cycle up to 4 cards from attacks from shamen), as does Nekimas bloody banner trigger. Should be enough to get you the masks you need for the shamen, though not 100% guaranteed. (and you may need to ditch high cards for lower masks)

The card draw from ancient pact is really helpful there as well as it also contributes to the pool of cards you may cycle.

Using a SS for cards in turn 1 and 2 if you don't have a couple of masks on hand is essential to make a list like this work.

Another neat trick you could do is hire a wicked doll to have it put adversary(nephilim) on the noxious to put your shamen on :+flipflips. But I don't know how to fit one in the above list.
