That being said, @Flippin' Wyrd Matt, does this mean you're coming back to playing guild at tournaments?

I will Definitely be back i have said when Wyrd releases all the boxes and I don't have to proxy models for the faction and I have painted them I will be back and hunting to take my Number 1 Guild spot back.

Not looking like next year with the current release scheduled but hopefully the one after.

  2. Sounds like you had a frustrating day @4thstringer. I still think Guild are in the Mix for taking a win when we get are models.

I would say we landed the Guild play Test spot or very close to it. The issue you had is a issue a lot of people are having is that there are some stuff that just missed the curve.

TT are a know issue McCabe/Shenlong just Models in there faction like charm warders and there upgrades.

But there are Cracks forming in all the factions I just dont think we was ever going to catch it all.

By You Side for instance is just ridiculous and has no limiting factors. But i will save my long list of problem models for a more appropriate post lol😂

So what I am saying is I have been were u was at that tournament with Guild and boy is it hard work but i do believe we can compete but yeah will be a tough road until a list of things get changed or they give us back some of damage we lost to balance us back out.

I personally don't want the guild to change as we balanced out well but tweaks to be had elsewhere.

KEEP THE FAITH MY GUILD BROTHERS AND SISTERS! Are day will come again 😂

  3. So I have finally caught up on this thread and i have to say i am a little shocked of the opinion of Guild in the individual meta's running through this thread.

I think as a faction we are in a solid place but you definitely can not rock up to a event and solo anyone master all day and expect to be able to give the best the Guild can give.

Dashal for me is a solid master but like you have highlighted can be card intensive but this is the hardship of most summoners from what i can see in games I have played. he is a bit of a strange place in the faction if i was to think about it, the Guard crew dose not really excel in one strat. I think you take him when you think you are going to need to change play style during the game that switch between killing and scheme running. Resilient I guess would be the word.

I mean Reckoning drops you can comfortably pick  Lady J, Perdita, Hoffman or Sonnia depending on the schemes

Turf War I am Running Sonnia or Hoffman into that.

Plant or idols I would be running Lucias or Nellie

Its not going to be easy for Guild but we definitely can compete we are always going to struggle with fast games that go wide because we dont really have that amazing scheme runner piece in are faction but i do think there are other strengths we can exploit to make the most of.

would be interested in hearing what masters you would all run into different games?

What are you using to get the staggered on? Do you proxy Alan Reid or use investigators (I hate their 0" range so much...) or something else?

I've played gunline Lucius but honestly after Turn 1 I find myself in combat anyway and just using melee attacks.

I have a Proxy for Alan Reid and Investigators are fantastic! Ml7 min 3 damage when targeting a staggered model. They are just amazing!

  5. 43 minutes ago, Dark Reaper said:

You are playing a list that keys off staggered, right? I have tried something like that for a few games, and I actually really like it. Will probably be even better when Reid is released.

Another option is to make more of a gunline with Pale Rider, Dopple and 46. You get a lot of fairly good shots off early in the game, and can then switch to melee after you have picked off a key model or two (ideally)

Yeah the list I favour is all about stripping all my opponents resources and then executing models. I enjoy it but dose take some playing to get right and it can be a pain to balance how u play with attack and scheme running 😂

The gun line sounds like a cool option to try, will throw it into the Flippin' Wyrd Blender that is are meta and see how it performs.

  6. Just now, Myyrä said:

It has been my experience that once the crew suffers enough casualties it is rarely able to compete anymore, especially if you can't make your opponent suffer as well.

100% agree. That's why u need to make sure those losses dont break down your game plan.

So for me my list really suffers if I lose agent 46, or Grimwell as they are the main points of damage and with out them u would struggle to capitalise on the resource drain and card advantage he has that Lucia's brings, that being said if they have been free to do there job for 3 turns I find they have done enough damage that u can afford to lose them

  7. 2 hours ago, Myyrä said:

What do you do when opponent decides to smash your face? The models aren't really fast enough to avoid the opponent most of the time, and that :-flip cannot be used that many times before you are out of cards.

Its is a concern but in these situations u need to give them no good choices a massive part of top table malifaux for me personally comes down to that resource management and some times u have to just accept a model will die and save the cards for the counter.

It can be hard pill to swallow but u can't save them and there is always casualties in war 😂

Welp, as I have apparently become the group naysayer, I suppose I'll start @Flippin' Wyrd Matt.

I'm not a master of Lucius by any means, but my experiences with him at tournament level play have been fairly poor due to the fragility of the crew. Basically every model in keyword has an irritating aura that they give out, and the ability to hand out negative flips. This is nice and can come in handy but I often find my crew dying in droves regardless. It's been mentioned to me that the amount of slow the crew can hand out (lawyers, Alan Reid) can help with preventing enemy focus, which makes our negative flips much more potent defensively speaking. However, this requires quite a few different elements to succeed, whereas other keywords like Augmented or Marshalls have their defensive tech built in without cost to itself (armor and hard to wound).

So if I was to turn this into a learning opportunity instead of a gripe, I would ask you this: how do you handle keeping your models alive long enough to accomplish your strats and schemes?

Thanks for posting the question buddy.

I can see why u would see them as fragile I found that its overlapping defensive ability in the first few turns to limit that damage coming in.

So for instance making sure the scribe stays in a useful position to keep his betrayal aura in play.

False witnesses with there tell no lies aura. Almost just making all the choices a bad choice to come in on them.

With combination of putting out negative flips I found that they can keep going for a frustrating amount of the time.

But the main way I found to keep models alive us that I strip the resources out of my opponents crew with the ability in the crew and keep my resources up with follow orders.

But I can see why u would struggle to keep them up. They cant take a solid hit to many times. A very surgical crew, they whittle your resources and remove key pieces in my experience definitely not a smash you in your face turn 1 crew.

Hope this helps or at least answers the questions 😂

  9. Thanks for the tag as I super would of missed this 😂

Im unsure were the post is about Lucia's but would be interested in reading it as I think he is one of the best masters guild has to offer!

His keyword has the power of scheme manipulation, denial ability, card draw, ap manipulation, killing power and I'm sure so much more.

One of the most versatile masters we have I would say. I still dont run dual masters out of principle I dont think it is balanced to be played in competitive, and also of a firm opinion that guild dont need it. We have some solid models and I think second masters may be to much of a resource drain in a faction that dose not have much resource generation.

Happy to give more detail about why I think Lucia's is a solid pick if people have questions 😁 obviously just my opinion and experience from the Flippin Wyrd Meta

  10. Sounds like u had some rough flips but I am really glad to see people loving collette as much as I do the list I made at the GT has become one of my standard go to's for Collette.

I whole heartily agree with coryphee revelation I am still yet to ever dance them together because with diesel engine they are such a disruptive peice that is hard to dislodge.

Really great to hear about peoples games so thanks 😁

How do you find that they work when not using the reactivate trick? Is the nimble worth it? I'm thinking yes but I'd like to hear your opinion.

Question two is in regards to the Mannequins and Performers, how do you use them, and how do you find their performance? I tend to find them lackluster but that might be because of my not properly utilising them.

What did you use the Medical automaton for?

Lastly, would you consider bringing a mechanical toolkit to assist the coryphees?

So I think Coryphee are Fantastic! As a individual model I find they are very efficient, Nimble and Agile models that have a solid damage track means they can kill and scheme run freely in a game and with armour 2 they are just a brilliant all round model for there cost.

I have only ever used there ability to dance together once. For me they can run into the edges and are a real tar pit when they go wide and will deal with most scheme runners with no issue.

Mannequins - I used these as the Crews Scheme runners they follow Coryphee into the corners to go wide with them and also using doves to drag them around the board running schemes. If that was not enough they can try and slow enemy models and keep the living elements of the crew alive with Emergency surgery.

Performers - i would say is the  weakest element of this crew but a don't mind me model with a lure for 5 stones is a solid model but you do have to keep them out of the danger or they will just die as manipulative dose not keep them alive for long.

The medical automaton was a test to add some healing in to the crew but if u want to do this then just add a Mannequin

I have used the Tool kit once in a game but it could not keep up with the speed of this crew it spent a lot of the time trying to play catch up. Diesel Engine offers them enough of a buff for Damage and and i have found that if they are going to die its under committed fire and no amount of healing will change that.

The round 5 crew has become almost my standard list for Colette recently as it seems to have had the most Success

  12. So I think zoraider is very good, my initial reaction is that she was crazy good. But I have played a few games against her now and speaking from meta that has banned dual masters because it has not been play tested enough for tournament play (in my humble opinion) she can be worked around if you k ow what she can do.

For me we run the risk of going to hard on a fix with her if we think she is completely broken. Where as actually I feel that all she needs is to not be able to  ast through swampfeinds and that will go a long way to helping her out or if u feel it needs more a obey action should not allow a interact action when targeting enemy models.

Me and @Flippin' Wyrd Jamie have been discussing this and feel this is all it would take to level her but we have to be careful to not go to far out of rage quitting and propaganda.

She is good but it's all new and every master will take some learning to beat is what I have found.

Would I be right in assuming that the investigator, false witness, alan reid, and grimwell are on one side of the board, and lucius, scribe, lawyer and 46 on the other?

Thinking about it I am sure you can run it like that but they do get the most use all working together.

  14. I have never seen the point in obeying a model to obey a model for cards... it's over baking it in my book. With the right resource management Lucia's just dose not run out of cards.

My favourite list for Lucia's so far is:

    Lucias

    Scribe

    Agent 46

    Alan Reid

    Dr.Grimwell

    Investigator

    False witness

    Guild lawyer

It's not a crew for all games but it is a great base to a lot of games dose very well in reckoning. Takes a game or 2 to figure out how to beat use it but I love it!

One thing that's handy for Colette is the Innovation trigger, you can either give Colette built-in :mask for super easy Presto-Chango's and Twist Ending, or give a bunch of Performers built-in :tome and just absolutely flood the board with Beautiful Clothes triggered Distracted

That dose sound useful, a lot of stones to invest for suits but its definitely on my list of models to try.

I was considering giving it a go with Hoffman. As I think I could use the reactivate better there and the suits for more irreducible damage on Joss.

The Mannequin can only heal other Living models. Mannequin is a Construct, so can't heal itself.

    Good point for the Concealment.

Yeah it was there to heal Colette, Cassy and the Showgirl.

And also it can take the hit for coryphee and the push is amazing!

  17. 5 minutes ago, Vangerdahast said:

But the Mannequin has only one Wound left,Df 5 and Armour +1 so one more attack should kill it.

@Flippin' Wyrd Matt: Have you tested the Mechanical Rider with Colette and what do you think about it?

Mannequins do come in on 1 wound but like @Flippin' Wyrd George said by the time he manaher to kill the coryphee it most of his models were done.

I have had a look at the mech rider I just did not see what it was adding to the crew, what do you use it for?

I'm curious, why Wind Gamin in the Kaeris crew instead of Firestarter at the same cost?

Also, did you find Elijah to be durable enough? I'd always figured on putting SS cache on him, especially since he should be in position recoup some of the cost with Recharge Soulstone.

I will be honest it is totally for leap! Just to get going.and it cant be locked up and i want my schemer runner to just keep going not get locked up!

Elijah dose die but i find that if he is taking the hit Kaeris is going to be taking your crew apart

Thanks for posting your lists Matt.  Must admit I was pleased it was an Arcanist-off on the final table.  Whoever won we got an Arcanist GT win. :)

I picked up a couple of bits from your play I want to try myself.

I would be up for knowing more about what you are going to be trying out seeming as I got loads of advice from you about Arcanist at Welsh GT :D

Very pleased that you played Colette three times!

Why do you hire a Duet + 2 Coryphee? Isn't it too many points invested?

Do you think that the Soulstone Miner is an autotake (haven't tested it yet) for all Masters?

Concerning Hoffman, why didn't you hired Guild Constructs? Just a personal challenge or do you value more Arcanists Constructs over Guild Constructs (after 5 games I think the opposite but I may be wrong)?

Coryphee I find are solid all around models they are really versatile with agile and Nimble they can get around better then most and Armour 2 DF6 with a stat 6 Melee makes them a force to be reckoned with. The duet even more so DF7 and Melee 7 they are just solid models that synergies very well with the whole crew.

Soulstone Miner is not a Auto take but a very strong piece that really works well with Colette as it can appear in most places and she can follow if needs be. and because its normally out of the way makes sense for it to have magical training.

Hoffman I normally take 2 wardens as they are solid minions. I like Joss and Howard over a Peacekeeper and I still think hunters are over costed for what they do. I would happily add in Watchers and i have not had a chance to try out the Guardian in the crew yet.

Could you please tell us in the arcanists forum which Masters and Crews you have played?

For Guild, do you think Perdita and Sonnia have the potential to win events?

I really do think that they can win events but i also feel that in M3E not one master can excel at all starts and Schemes so definitely the faction that needs to use all its tools.

With the exception of Albus Von Schtook who I think you could run all day long thanks to By your side needing a tweak because its crazy good right now but he has a tool for everything in that crew.
