  1. I was surprised at that, but then, how else were they going to do it? Each effigy is dedicated to a faction. Asking people to buy a set of effigies they might only use 1 of is a bit much. And isn't the effigy price the current baseline single model price?
  2. I doubt it. It's basically a fun take on a Nightmare crew - alternate models. Just in this case, they're really alternate. Also, giving them their own rules would suck for people who can't get their hands on one. Leave them as fun alternates to Colette. I'm dreading it with the dollar slipping ever lower. But I'm getting that Dark Carneval set. As you say, it's nice when a company gives those on the other side of the pond a fair chance to get the cool stuff. I've been playing Malifaux for a year now and have more alternate limited edition models for it than any other game - including GW games which I've player for over twenty years - simply because they let me buy them.
  3. To be fair, as said, the image had nothing to do with the contest aside from being the model everyone is going to be trying to get (usually due to the limited nature). It's kind of pointless brining it up again - this was a well addressed point. It was jumping to conclusions, not intended sexism.
  4. I do like that this one will have several optional ways to build it. I don't like the hat, so being able to build it with the bat and hair is nice.
  5. If it's like other Miss models, you should get her with an order of a certain amount as well.
  6. If nothing else, The Dark Carnival crew will make for some great characters in TtB. Does anyone else find it strange that Wong is the old plastic with the old Gremlin nose, while the rest of the crew is new plastics with no nose? Seems like a bit of an oversight.
  7. Those look amazing. I especially love the leaves kicking up in the air, which emphasises the movement of Kirais pose.
  8. Depends entirely on the design of the model. A good example is the Terror Tot which is slashing down with both arms. One is crossed over the side of the body and knife over the top of the thigh. Without undercuts, this would look terrible. The model itself would need to be redesigned around the lack of undercuts. There's already a model where the lack of undercuts is very visible, and painting doesn't hide it unless you're really good - Candy. The candy canes in her basket extend all the way back to her body. Sure, having the candy canes separate would have been insanely small, and I do appreciate in this instance not doing separate bits, the lack of undercuts on a dynamic model with layers of detail is very noticeable.
  9. He needs to be painted with burgundy clothes.
  10. Sorry for the no replies. Shortly after I posted this, I wound up having surgery. I've been recovering for a while, and it really killed my enthusiasm to paint. I've been doing a bit of terrain contruction to get back into hobbying, and recently finished off a few models for other systems that were in progress beforehand. Now I'm finishing a model that was WIP before, my Mature Nephilim. Some stuff left to do - horns, wings, metal bands, plus sealing and blood. Lilith is mostly going to have the effect aded to the sword. I'd imagine she'd be a bit neater with her killing than some hungry Nephilim.
  11. Seconding this. I use their 'Town Square' bases, and my brother uses their 'Cobblestone' bases. Both have that old, Victorian feel you'd be after for Redchapel.
  12. Incredible. I didn't like the art on the cards, so I was prepping some old GW pink horrors to use as proxies, but these translated to 3d sculpts amazingly well. The fact that it's a box of 3 is even better. Those horrors are going back in the box.
  13. I've been building some of the Infinity Bourak terrain lately, but this stuff is on my list for when I start putting my Malifaux board together. Absolutely use superglue. It doesn't bond the join like plastic cement, but it's a very fast, very strong join. The join is stronger than the material, even on just a 2mm wall join, so no worry of the join coming apart. The material is flimsy when you're building it. It's foamed PVC, not MDF or HIPS. It bends and snaps easily. However, once built, the terrain is sturdy enough for gaming. Just be careful how you store it, really. I've really become a convert to this material. Because it's not as rigid as HIPS or MDF, it's got more give allowing for curved architecture, rather than the city of lego blocks MDF terrain winds up looking like. Plastcraft are pretty clever with using edging to hide unsightly joins. Also, when building, I really like to just crack on and finish things, and PVA with MDF takes too long for my impatient self to wait on. And really, I just don't find much HIPS terrain around these days.
  14. The photos were all taken at night, which is when I tend to have time to paint. Maybe on the weekend I'll take some daylight photos with a white background. They definitely aren't dark, at least to me.
  15. Hi all I got into Malifaux when the new plastics won me over. There's the odd metal in the range I like, but overall I wasn't a fan. With 2Es plastics, I decided to jump in. Also, after painting drab military colours for Infinity, I wanted to try my hand at some more vibrant Fantasy painting, and also have a chance to play with some of the technical paints out there. My painting isn't fantastic, I mostly try to get it to the point where it looks good on the table. First, I've been working on Liliths crew. This was my chance to play with blood effects. It took me a while to get the hang of it, and the Tots I definitely went overboard on one of them, but overall I'm enjoying the effect. Lilith. I'm trying to figure out how to finish her off. I'm trying to figure out how to finish her off. I want a PVC look to the red, so any tips on how to highlight it would be appreciated. Terror Tots Barbaros Cherub Young Nephilm (WIP) These guys still need the blood effect applied. Right now I'm finishing up the Mature and metal Tuco. After that, the plastic Nekima, then probably onto Dreamers crew.
  16. There's several reasons why. Time. Some people lack the hobby time to dedicate to DIY terrain. Ability. Some people just cannot make good DIY terrain. Convenience. Some people are willing to pay a premium for well designed terrain they just have to stick together and paint. 4grounds shows people will pay a higher premium if they don't have to paint it either.
