  1. KR Multi-case for sure. I've also used battlefoam and sabol army transport but the KR foam is much softer and I really like their card case + carrying case system. The idea is you get multiple card cases for easy storage then you just drop one or more into your carrying case. I just bought a Kaiser 1 bag and am very pleased.
  2. Hi folks, I'm interested in picking up the 1.0 and 1.5 rulebooks for the fluff and I noticed that they are listed at $7.50 on the Wyrd store and $20+ everywhere else which struck me as fishy. Are they actually in stock at Wyrd for a fraction of the price offered everywhere else on the internet? Is there going to be any chance of a fluff/art/miniature showcase compilation?
  3. So just snipe all the other guys and leave the enemy master for the Viks to handle .
  4. Moonshine, you can find high-res, printable copies of all the Wave 2 stat cards (including Vanessa) here: http://wyrd-games.net/community/files/file/54-malifaux-wave-2-cards-high-rez/ The "official" rules say that everything must be scratchbuilt or a Wyrd model. However as far as I know that only applies to Gencon (the only "official" event). Any third-party event will probably be fine with proxies as long as it is clear what they are (e.g. no space marine as a ronin). The proxy rules are obviously lax for characters that have no miniature yet. He isn't a girl (though I bet you could find an appropriate female proxy model), but Hans is an excellent addition. He is a master sniper that can add some excellent long-range firepower (18" base range, 36" with a focus) to your crew for assisination/reckoning missions.
  5. I am on the TO staff for the Nova Open wargaming convention, a big 700+ person event in DC every August, and we just added a couple of Malifaux events this year. We started out at a Warhammer 40k event and branched out into WarmaHordes, Infinity, Fantasy, X-Wing, and now Malifaux. Our general stance has been that the most important thing is that you opponent can clearly identify all of your models so they can tell the board state at a glance. That means using a Space Marine as guild guard is not going to fly, but your custom Union Army themed guild crew is probably okay as long as it is clear what everything represents. Obviously at an official Wyrd event, they are going to want you to run their models (as several folks have said), but almost every event is going to be an independent TO event. As a general guideline, the "rule of cool" trumps.
  6. So, how'd it work out for you? Personally I think 8ss is a bit too much for upgrades, especially at 40ss. Also, if you are running Torakage, I think Smoke & Shadow should be a must for the smoke bomb shennanigans. Also, keep in mind that Hans can see through the smoke bombs with his goggles ability, so you can block enemy LOS to you but still shoot at the enemy. Did you find Yamaziko to be good? I have a Misaki crew but never found her that appealing.
  7. Ansatsu Sha renamed Katakana Sniper. No new Last Blossom in either Ten Thunders or Outcasts
  8. Thank you! These are great! Only suggestion would be to consider adding a check-box in the corner and a blank box for those that require naming a model. That way you have a nice spot to write on them with a dry erase marker.
  9. Thanks, Mourne! I would upload the powerpoint I made them in, but the attachment feature always complains. Anyone know if there is a way to attach files to these posts? ---------- Post added at 02:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:49 PM ---------- Barring that, I can PM it to anyone who wants it.
  10. Thanks, Clement. That clears it up nicely. The 1" point makes sense. One follow-up to make sure I'm tracking. Let's say Model A is shooting at Model B and both are 6" away from a tall post. I can draw unimpeded LOS from the outer edges, but the center is obscured. Neither model is within 1" of the post. Does B get a cover save? My apologies if this is basic. I'm coming from Warhammer 40k where everything is "true" line of sight in which even a branch obscuring part of a model halfway across the map can grant cover saves. I'm gathering Malifaux is much more abstract (refreshingly so). Good point! That suggests that a cool tactic for the Torakage might be to drop smoke for first action and if they fail to get the :masks trigger to vanish, then do a shuriken attack and take the trigger to push into the center of the new smoke marker. Granted you'd have to already be in position...
  11. Hello all, I just started getting into Malifaux and a couple LOS-related questions came up that we couldn't figure out from the rulebook. First Question: Model A is trying to shoot at Model B. There is a Ht 1 wall between them. If if the wall is somewhere in between them (lower picture) Model B obviously gets a cover save because the line is draw from base to base through the wall. However, if the upper example is Model A is right next to a wall shooting at Model B in the open, does Model B still get a cover save? Second Question: Model A is shooting at Model B again. B is on top of a Ht 1. Model B is basically in the wide open. A clear line can be drawn from A to B. However, you can also draw a line that passes through part of the hill. Does this mean that B gets a cover save even though it is basically in wide open terrain? Question 3: Finally, I am playing with the Ten Thunders Misaki crew. If my Torakage (Model drops a smoke marker as show below. In the first case, Model B walks into melee range, but is still inside of the LOS-blocking smoke marker, can it attack Model A? In the second case, if Model B walks into base-to-base contact with Model B, but is still inside the smoke marker, can it attack Model A? Thank you so much in advance for any help you can offer to a newbie!
  12. Definitely Smoke and Shadows. The ability to throw down LOS-blocking smoke to cover your advance plus teleport your minions all over the map is HUGE.
  13. Ryoken, thanks for the tip! For those following along, that set is available here: http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Hats-and-Guns-of-Malifaux.html ---------- Post added at 03:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ---------- The rest of the model isn't quite the right aesthetic, but I really love the rifle on this Hell Dorado mini: https://cipher-studios.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_44&products_id=554&zenid=f36v62akmoqb8imtsi3is2kn72
  14. I'm pretty excited by the beta rules for the Ten Thunders Ansatsu Sha minion. But as a wave 2 beta, I assume an actual model is at least 6 months off. Does anyone have any good ideas for a 3rd party proxy? From the rules, the character has a katana and a clockwork rifle and is a Last Blossom, so probably looking for something vaguely ninja-like. Something like a Torakage with a gun?

    M2E Scale

I just picked up Malifaux with the Misaki starter set and it generally seems pretty good except for the female torakage that is significantly smaller than all the other models. Is this on purpose? It seems like she is a completely different scale.
