  1. Okay, I was just trying to understand the reasoning behind it, and whether it was a fluff of balance decision. I believe in the beta, one of the upgrades was exclusive to Jacob, and the other to Huggy. Everyone just took both, and so they were made Limited and Jacob to force a choice. At least that's how I remember it. Also I thought Jacob just made things very "convenient" for Huggy. I did not think Huggy depended on him to that level. (I.E. He might be a Queen, but hes still just another piece on the board at the end of the day).
  2. Is it only me that finds it a bit strange that 2 Limited upgrades that specifically effect 1 model, can only be purchased on another? Should not the upgrades the effect the Hungering Darkness be on the Hungering Darkness? With the upgrades now being Limited (as opposed to the Beta) and having to choose between being tanky or hity, it seems like a non-issue to me. It also seems very strange to me, from a thematic point of view, that when Jacob dies, the Huggy looses a CA action, or suddenly can no longer manifest from his own essence. I am not asking for things to be changed, I am just trying to figure out the reasons behind it and get others opinions. Maybe I'm just crazy.
  3. You will want a Ressurrectoinist Arsenal Deck to get the current cards. The cards you have with what you bought are outdated will not work for 2E. Also if you don't have the 2E rulebook get that. And you will need a Fate deck. I assume you have a tape measure moving from 40K. Then you should be good as you have a nice selection of models to work with. If you want more models, I hear Rotten Belles are very popular choices for ressers. Welcome to the game.
  4. You will need an arcanist arsenal deck (the lone Golem has the old card, and you need the new one). You will also need a new base for the Golem as the lone model is on a smaller base than the new version found in the Rasputina box. Kaeris is still in beta, so you will need to use her beta rules for now. When it is released, you will need the Wave 2 Arcanist arsenal deck.
  5. First its bureau no borough. Second, it has been a month since release, not a week. At least we didn't need day 1 errata in order to play the game like some recent GW 40K books. Third, mistakes happen. Wyrd actually fixed them. They are the only company I know of that will actually rebalance things after an official release. This is a GOOD thing. Using GW again, on the Fantasy side you wait 9+ months for an FAQ and then they still don't answer the questions at hand. In the case of something that works too well or not at all, you have to wait 7 years for the next printing of the book. Lastly, this is why they have public betas. This way a larger amount of people are exposed to the game and problems can be found much easier. It appears a few slipped through the cracks, but at the end of the day it was just a few. I say thanks Wyrd for the expedient FAQ. And thanks for giving us an exact time frame on the next one.
  6. Every model from 1st edition is changing alot to fit the new 2nd edition rules. Instead of making us wait another 2 years for everything to be done internally, or simply releasing things peacemeal without even a warning to whats coming out month to month (ahem: GW), they decided to do two public betas to give the players a chance to have a say in the direction of the game. Heck, given the size of wave 2, and the overall complexity of its masters compared to wave 1 (plus increased model interaction due to everything being in play now), I would have done 3 waves if I were calling the shots (I am sure Wyrd knows what they are doing, that is just what I would do). There was only 10 days between the Wave 1 street date and the launch of Wave 2 beta. Wave 2 does not officially go into effect (for official events and such) until Wave 2 hits its street date. You have 2 options: 1: Play 1st edition Malifaux until early next year when that street date hits. or 2: Use the beta rules and help shape your master for his official release.
  7. That's Misaki. Mei Feng is Ten Thunders / Arcanist.
  8. I think you are right about the overall number of models being around the same. However Masters and Avatars require a lot more work than the rest of the crew (usually). Wave one has 3 Masters per faction. Wave two will have two per faction (they said there would be 7 per right?) + an avatar for all 41 masters (supposedly). If this is true, that's a lot of new models just for the avatars. Also if the 7 masters per faction is correct, I think we have a few more unmodeled crews to be revealed (I think). Add to this the masters that are coming out in wave 2 were much more complicated in 1st edition compared to the masters we got in wave 1. IF (and thats a big IF since I don't know if the above info is 100% right), then 2nd wave could be a lot to take in. Or at least that's my line of thought.
  9. You do know that the time between the release of M2E and the 2nd wave beta is only 9-10 days right? Also M2E does not officially go into effect (for events and the like) until wave 2 is finished. You could just play 1st edition for 10 days (well 4 days now). Its not that long of a wait. I have a nearly 100 soul stone Kirai force, it does not bother me. If it were up to me, I would have done these releases in 3 waves, wave 2 is going to be HUGE. 4 Masters per faction (that are generally much more complex than those we got in first wave) plus Avatars is going to be alot to digest all at once.
  10. Welcome! I have been playing for a little over a year myself. I, like you, was introduced to the game by a friend. And like in your case, no one plays it here (40K is (or was) really the only big thing here). I had alot of success getting Fantasy popular where I am at (took about 2-3 years of pretty hard work though) and will be pushing Malifaux hard now that 2nd edition is launched. I have a Kirai crew totaling almost 100 stones, and a Jacob Lynch crew containing all his themed models. I have ordered a full Misaki force (with archers and Oiran and the like), but my LGS is having a hard time getting them. I intend to use Lynch and Misaki for 2E demos. Pushing a game in an area where it is unpopular (or unheard of) can be very tiring, irksome, and downright annoying at times. But in the long run if you are successful it really does pay off. My advice would be to see if there is an LGS in your area that will let you run events. That's where I started and now I'm "the Fantasy and Malifaux guy" and they pay me to run events. I wish you a lot of luck both on and off the table. And I hope you continue to enjoy this fantastic game.
