  1. It's the nephilim love triangle *evil* Incredibly effective when used with and against the right models. I love to drop barbaros in the middle of the enemy forces, and just have him sit there with the nexus of power and fears given form upgrades on him and just have him tank it up and watch my opponent get more and more frustrated. For added frustration, use "Challenge" so even if they wanted to, they usually can't ignore barbaros. Meanwhile, lilith is hacking away at the enemy's heavy hitter that just dropped in her lap. Unclear if the wording of "place" would trigger Lilith's "Thirsty Mandrake" or the terror tot's "pounce", so for my opponent's sake, I play as though they do not. Otherwise things would just get ridiculous. Anyone have a better understanding of whether or not this spell would constitute a "push or move action that is not part of a walk or charge action"? Anyways, I ramble. This is just one example of it's usefulness. Figure out some fun stuff to do with it, and if you have the cards, go for it. (Also, dont forget that the target can be your own model as well. Funny when the opponent sends a model over to kill a terror tot, thinking it's going to be easy pickins, then all of the sudden he gets a mature nephilim dropped in his face, and my tot is safe and sound back by my side.)
  2. B is correct, as far as I interpret it. The model remains in play with one wound remaining and the paralyze condition. things that prevent healing would prevent the model staying in play. The intent seems to be that the initial model will leave something barely alive, and push it over to a tot that would immediately take a swing at the model and hopefully then kill it, to facilitate the tot growing (because it gained a blood counter for killing something.) Does that make sense?

It's a Df14 duel. Barbaros's Gladiatus upgrade is a Wk14 test to resist a push, damage flip, and slow. VERY useful.
  4. Love teddy. His model was what initially got me into malifaux. I have the standard and a nightmare as well. combined with the orphanage base insert and orphanage accessories and it looks awesome. chalk pentagram drawn on the floor. added some baby blocks, and sat the little chubby kid that comes with nightmare teddy on a little rocking horse. Manipulated teddy's arm so that it looks like he's scooping him off of the rocking horse. Looks really good. Love to put him on the table but he becomes such a big target with low defense that he rarely survives very long.
  5. That's a good point. I'll try that out. I included the Nexus of Power as a hypothetical for myself. I often play against a rezzer player who is very fond of the "decaying aura" upgrade which negates the nexus entirely. So I don't normally try very hard to keep huggy ticking. Instead of a large cache, I'll usually hire another terror tot to sprint around the board and do scheme stuff. But thank you for the feedback. I will definately give that a try.
  6. So I like to call this one "Invincible Darkness" and if done correctly should keep huggy coming back over and over again to torment your opponent. Jakob should have the "Rising Sun," "Wanna See A Trick," and "Woke Up With A Hand" upgrades. Aside from being very good upgrades for any situation, they combine to very effectively bring Huggy back. Use Huggy as a cruise missle. He's very quick and can walk through walls. Close in on a target and give a soft enemy target (peon or cheap expendable minion) brilliance. It's best to get the mask trigger on "Heed My Voice" to brilliance them permanently. Charge Huggy into the middle of the enemy to tie up as many of them as possible. With his 50mm base and healthy 3" engagement range (which also makes him great for the "Fears Given Form" upgrade) and good attacking stats, most models will not be getting away from him. This will force the enemy to engage Huggy rather than do whatever else they were planning to do, i.e. scheme markers, attacking other models, etc. Do what you can with huggy while he's alive to chip away at the amount of models around him. If you're flush with soulstones (and let's face it, Jakob doesnt really need too many with his defensive trigger, card manipulation, and ability to pitch a card to add a suit) have the "Nexus of Power" upgrade on Huggy and prevent damage with soulstones. This will prevent damage to Huggy, then heal him 2 wds on top of that. Just beware of the rezzers "Decaying Aura" upgrade which does not allow either prevention or healing. I don't cheat defense flips for huggy, since he has very low defence, you wont stop much anyway, I'd rather keep the high cards for attacks or defense flips for Jakob. Huggy will eventually succumb to the attacks (hopefully after tieing up 3-4 models for a turn or two) and when he does, this is really where the upgrades on Jakob come into their own. Hopefully you've been keeping Jakob somewhat close to a brillianced enemy (possibly the aforementioned permanently brillianced peon) and try to activate Jakob last to get the most out of the "Woke Up With A Hand" upgrade. If the enemy is not brillianced, stone to get the mask on the pistol (don't cheat the mask or pitch for the suit, you want as many cards in your hand as possible). Then hit em with the "Final Debt" spell, since it's very easy to get off, longer range than the pistol, and usually does more damage than the pistol. If brillianced target is not dead, rinse and repeat as needed. If all else fails, use the "52 Pickup" ability at the end of your activation if you have aces in your hand. Dont forget to pick them out of the discard pile if your other models flipped them during their activations. This should be enough to put down a brillianced model within 6" and viola! Huggy is back in your opponent's face and as good as new. Place Huggy in B2B on the opposite side of Jakob to get him as close as possible to the enemy and try to NEVER forget about the "Fears Given Form" upgrade. Well this is a central mechanic to how I use Huggy and Lynch. Just priceless to see opponents' faces when you bring back a huge niusance model that can do alot of damage to their models, and completely tie up a few of their models for a few turns, only to tie them back up again and do more damage when they activate (or terrify them if they're living). Best of all, remind your opponent of Huggy's soulstone cost *grin**grin**grin* Let me know what you guys think of this tactic. Any way to do it better? Any holes in this strategy? (aside from maybe Tara killing huggy while buried? not sure if that would kill huggy for good)
  7. Teddy. Enough said. Ok, so i'll say anyways. I picked up the teddy model without knowing much about the game just because I liked it. Unpacked, set card aside and proceeded to paint it up. Then looked at the card just on a whim when I was done and realized this was a game I could really sink my teeth into. Then fell in love with Jakob and the whole dark debts box sculpts (except maybe the demonic tadpole / dune thresher Huggy). Not a whole lot of synergy between Jakob and teddy, but I tried anyway. While looking for something I could put teddy out with I found my absolute favorite master, The Dreamer. Kinda sad though because i've never had teddy survive more than maybe 2 turns on the table, let alone a full game. Hopefully he proves more survivable in M2E with a dreamer crew. we'll see. P.S. - I got into Malifaux too late to pick them up when they came out, but had to go onto ebay and pay outrageously through the nose for Nightmare Teddy and Nightmare Chompy, but I just HAD to get them. You guys understand right? also, if one of you understands and is particularly eloquent, would you mind explaining that to my wife? *grin*
  8. agreed, that's how we enterperate the wp duel thing in our gaming group. A failed wp duel only occurs when a model fails to best their opponent's total when said model is using the wp stat or fails to meet the wp TN in a simple duel. my question however is that since teddy's smell fear ability does not specify that he must strike the model that failed the wp duel, does that mean that teddy could be engaged with an enemy model, a different enemy model 6" away fails a wp duel, and teddy gets to hit the model he's already next to? Since he can't charge with smell fear anymore, I would assume that if he had to hit the loser of the wp duel, the ability's range would not be larger than his melee range. Does this sound right?
  9. Thank you, and also, if a model attempts to move away, and fails the disengaging duel against Señor Abrazo, does that count as ending a move action within range, vis-à-vis horror duel?
  10. If you put the "Fears Given Form" upgrade on lets say Huggy, and move him next to an enemy that model that activates next, which does the enemy take first? The horror or the fears given form test? If the horror is first and the model is immediately paralyzed, does it still take the FGF test as well? Also, am I reading the book/card correctly that all models must take the fears given form test, including friendlies? Thanks in advance!
  11. Not related to the Polti, but in regards to base sizes... anyone else have a little trouble basing the cherub on a 30? had to pinch the wings in a bit to glue them to the very edges of the outer rim of the base.
  12. Are totems still removed when the master is killed in M2E, if so, does this still apply to Huggy?
  13. I've been playing 40 stone games and a crew of Lynch, Huggy, 2 Illuminated, and 2 beckoners. Lynch upgrades - Rising Sun, Wanna See a Trick?, Endless Hunger (sometimes swap out endless hunger with Woke Up with a Hand [situational]) Huggy Upgrade - Nexus of Power That leaves a 7ss pool. It's been working really well for me. I'm undefeated so far with this list.
  14. Ok, so i know it's a really rare situation, but my fourth game playing with Lynch, I was shooting Sword Vik and got a straight flip for damage and cheated in the ace of masks (which with Lynch's "ace in the hole" ability counts as RJ). For the additional stacking damage flip I flipped the actual RJ. We just played it as another severe damage, but would I actually get another damage flip after that?
