  1. Thanks for the info on the hardcover books Aaron! ;-) KSW
  2. Did anyone else who was supposed to get hard cover books (game room level+), not receive them? Are they still arriving from the shipper or printing company or did those items get missed out of my bundle? Stuff looks great BTW, arrived today 1 day before my birthday! Excellent timing WYRD staff! KSW
  3. Dossier File Trade Name: Doktor Grym Common Name: Lutz Eizak Born: August 6. 1827 Age: (Based on 1901) 74 Apparent Age: Early 40’s An early study in mechanical engineering and assorted new sciences, Lutz finished his college studies just before his 18th year. It was during his last few years of study he became very attached to the Bohemian lifestyle. The carefree attitude suited him and his thoughts marveled at its potential applications on humanity. Within months of graduation he looked at assorted medical colleges and in short order earned himself a doktors license. Now so equipped, he took his knowledge and ran like a child through a penny candy store. After just a few years he had come up with chemicals and drugs that would allow someone to really feel free of mind and spirit. While at the London World Expo in 1851 he had his first chance to examine a soul stone, though nearly exhausted of its essence he saw much pullulating below its surface. He knew at that time he must find a way to get his hands on some of them. Being a Doktor afforded him many luxuries and when by chance he was taking care of a well off patient he saw his chance for gain. The patient was suffering from the cancer. Doktor Eizak pointly told the patient that the stones were the cause and that continued exposure would only quicken her death. In days of having the soul stones he noted many wondrous effects and experimented on a number of them. He set to work at crafting devices from and distilling the soul stones. He crafted lenses for a pair of unique spectacles that allowed him quickly judge the power still undecayed within them. He also found with fascination that he could see motes around those who might be able to wield them. From the distilled essence he crafted all kinds of alcohols, chemicals, drugs and medicines. He found all kinds of takers amongst his Bohemian friends, though at times the effects were encouraging at other times they were quite sinister. After one sullen imbiber nearly beat the life out of him due to all his hair falling out, the Doktor woke in a hospital from coma a number of months later. His face and body were a wreck, his mind afire with tenebrous thoughts. He would never let his guard down again. At once he went to work crafting with recondite purpose; many a season went by with out a word from him to his old friends. Then the day came when Doktor Grym was born. He strode out with top hat and cane, dressed in a fine suit. The body had been remade; a nose once smashed now lay straight and refined, as did a jaw and teeth that had been shattered. Black hair clipped short, a nicely pointed Royale and well manicured hands. His face carried an indifferent smile, though behind querulous musings rolled. His spectral specs astride his nose, abaft, his green eyes spied all those who would need redemption through the world of alchemy. The man he sought out did not live very long, but his soul did provide sustenance, for the good Doktor needed fuel. This fuel could only be provided by consuming souls that ferment inside his specially altered soul stones. His Bohemian lifestyle had crossed the line and his return to the scene of his carefree former friends was met with preternatural awe and wonder, for the Doktor now had a magik touch. From then on the Doktor enjoyed the good life, at least in his eyes. He took to the dog races and high society, ever manipulating those who would give him what he wanted and needed to expose those to the carefree Bohemian lifestyle. He found solace in the dogs that ran the track for the spectators and whose owners’ whim let them live or die based on how they coursed. He selected two bitches set for death, renamed them Helen and Wanda, gave them the wonders of his magik and science. Weeks later he brought them back to the track. To the naked eye they did not show any different than any other greyhound at the track save a little more definition. However below micro-stitched skin pulsed muscle that had been marinated in Doktor Grym’s marvelous tonics. The Doktor bet the whole house and walked away owning the track. A day later the Great Boundary reopened and the good Doktor felt it’s calling. Doktor Grym stands 5’9” with a slim build, dark brown almost black hair, imperial or royale beard, green eyes, his skin is of nominal Caucasian tone, he bears no scars or blemishes. He carries an indifferent smile leading no one to suspect his dire joyful motives. His hands are clean and well manicured. He typically wears dark suits with top hats, always has his prismatic specs handy. His cane is a grandeur of alchemy, containing about 10 receptacles that contain assorted powders and extracts in concentrated forms. Two larger receptacles contain under pressure an oxidizer and liquefier that can be used to either create a jet, spray or cloud. They can also be used to inject a subject through either the handle or the end via hidden needles or spikes. He carries a number of extra receptacles and other kinds of dispensers on his person. His two girls are with him at all times and have been trained to respond to both vocal and hand signs as well as chemicals that the Doktor can release. He can also mark targets with these chemicals through assorted means that the girls can later track and follow or attack or guard. He also carries a silver letter opener and a simple selection of medical instruments in a roll-up tool holder. A gold pocket watch, note book and fountain pen. He is always kindly to portly old women who remind him of his mom, whose picture is on the inside of his watch. Wanda has a blue coat and a white belly and nasal Helen has a Brindle coat. KSW Comments welcome
  4. I second that but with this... http://www.planetavp.com/amr/html/sounds/alien2/rock.wav KSW
  5. Josh, Thanks for running a great intro event series @ Gamer's Gauntlet! I had a lot of fun learning a really good game system. KSW
  6. Geistwald, Thanks you did provide some insight. I was told after the battle to use biting chill till he ran out of cards. but the ice gamin thing will also work as well as spamming him. KSW
  7. I now posses a good number of the models you've suggested and they have been great additions to my crew of Arcanists. I've really liked how Snow Storm and the Silent One interact with the rest of my crew. I just got a few of the others and I am looking forward to some additional shenanigans. I've found the Wendigo useful for eating up those corpse counters and devour has come in handy a few times against a gremlin player. However I am looking forward to using the Essence of Power. I also got Rasputina's Avatar and how do you feel about using it. I feel very confident in being able to get the alternate form out. Are there any gotchas I should be wary about? I had recently after only 2.5 games of Malifaux, played in a tourney of about 14 players and had been in first place going into the final match. I played against a very experienced player who was using Leveticus along with the model I've really learned to dislike wholeheartedly - Jack Daw. As a new player this model was quite overwhelming for me to deal with and it really frustrated me. Is this model consider under pointed or am I missing something on how to deal with him? My list stayed the same for the whole event. Rasputina, Snow Storm, Wendigo, 2 Ice Gamiin. 25 soul stone games. I do like having the those 8 soul stones available because of her low Df. I got 8 vp, 6 vp and then 1 vp for the final game. This was an event aimed at new players though there were a number of veterans as well as 3 Henchmen. I was very pleased with the ability to select schemes that allow you as a player to still climb the victory ladder even at the cost of any models in your crew. This is a very welcome mechanic from every other mini game I've played over the past 30 years. KSW
  8. WildRacoon, What days to you normally have Malifaux @ TC War Room? I'll be heading back up north in a few weeks to close out our property for the winter and would be down to get a couple of games in. I saw TC War Room or I think I did, a stand alone building outside T.C. correct? KSW
  9. Rhellion, Thanks for running the event had a really good time! Looking forward to the next one! KSW
  10. DarcXon, Well I've played, lets see, oh yea 2 whole games and a demo so far...., but I've got a few ideas? KSW
  11. I'll bring some ICE from Antarctica for you DarcXON... or perhaps just a Cold Wintery 8itch? KSW
  12. Josh, I played a game with John Hunter he scored 2 VP and I scored 4 VP + we both had a painted mini for this week for 2 more points. So I think I am at 3 pt + 2 pts for last week and 4 pts + 2 pt so far this week. Hope to get another game in.. Could you perhaps leave some score sheets at G.G. that we can fill out and leave there? Thanks Kevin.
  13. Is there a place to order bits for the minis? I am missing a head for a Saber-tooth Cerberus. KSW
  14. I will be in attendance, I'm very nub at this game but will be happy to take my lumps. KSW
  15. Thanks all, checking out the Pull-My-Finger wiki. ;-) The Essence of Power is a crew leader attachment per say (I'm coming from Wm/H) KSW
  16. Thanks everyone for your ideas and samples. I've been working on my Rasputina crew and hope to have it ready for next weeks game session. I have gone with a cool white scheme that I found on the the Dr. Faust painting clinics tubes for Rasputina. DGraz I'm really liking your Cerebus Saber-tooth look do you have a how-to you might send me with the technique for the spots? I'm thinking a slightly different color scheme when I get one of them there kittys. Your Hoarcats are nice as well. I hope to get some pics up perhaps on Sunday or Monday. KSW
  17. Gordie one of the other people I game with said someone at G.G. said there was going to be a tourney someplace? KSW
  18. Hello All, New to Malifaux as well as Rasputina. I've played quite a few mini games over the years and welcome the change of game style that Malifaux brings to the table. So what I am asking is as follows; I have a Rasputina box along with Snow Storm 1. Is there a Arcanist play bible such as the War Colleges for WarmaHordes? 2. If not what should I be looking out for as far as opponent tricks based on Faction? 3. What tricks can I use on enemies be they outside or within my faction? 4. What model should be my next purchase to expand the items above? Please provide why this should be the next purchase and how to use the model to best practice tactically. 5. if you don't have a next purchase model, perhaps you have a model to avoid adding to my crew. Again please provide a why this model should be avoided. Thanks KSW
  19. All, New to Malifaux and I am starting a Rasputina Crew, so I am looking for samples of what everyone has done for her and her box crew as well as some expansion items. Currently I only have Snow Storm and the base box crew. What I would like to have besides pictures if you have them is the paint colors and order you applied them, plus any suggested improvements on said paint scheme. I have painted for quite a number of years so I am not afraid of complicated schemes. I would like to see samples even if you do not have good painting skill but have a good color pallet. Also if you have suggestions of color schemes to avoid for the figs that would be welcome as well as I know some figs just don't sit well with some colors. KSW
  20. Looking for Josh, I'm thinking that is jmp_mydog, your the local Henchman? Looking for a demo. I have never played Malifaux but have done other mini games in the past. I have a book and a set of minis but I would be happy to use what you have to get a demo with. Thanks KSW
