  1. Okay, I need a fix! If anyone is available on Thursday to play a game through skype messenger, let me know!
  2. The killing blow from Hooded Rider to Lady J. I believe sssk's plan was to make Bette Noire to go under the bed and put some hurt on Seamus. Luckily Hooded Rider was there to save the day Some Comparisons: I'm assuming since I won these as a prize, and pictures have already been posted here and there, that it is okay to post these. Yes, I painted two of the new plastics already. Kinda hard since they were already super-glued. So it was more of a practice run. The demo team had pre- washed them in their respective suit colors. It was a lot of fun, and would love to play anyone interested!
  3. aaaand done! My camera died, but on round 2 of Turn 4, hooded rider came out of the left green workbench, moved, round 3, took a rip, and whacked off Lady J's lovely head. Malifaux cherub was indeed unused. The hound also. When my camera is up I will take a picture and also take some shots of metal vs plastic puppets.
  4. but but but I just got hooded rider. Also, That thing on the back of his card paired with that one innate ability that one guy iwth the top hat has is scary enough. End of Turn 1 Lady J's moleman suffered a death to Seamus, via bath time so he could go twice End of Turn 2 Dead puppets: Executioner, Roin (mine), Gunslinger, Judge, Moleman Flipped black joker on Judge with Roulette End of Turn 3 No deaths! Just some pecking, sometimes literally (looking at you austringer)
  5. That cherub took out Pokey Vic via Rusty Alice not 5 days ago, I think I'll keep him around for now. I do like the acolyte idea though... Just starting, we will make a post at the end of round 5
  6. Okay, sounds like I'm playing sssk on map 1 of the pattern book. Lets do a shoebox game. 8 puppets + 1 master. This might be really a lot of work, but it should still be fun. So to tell movement, we're going to state the puppet, master's side, then the letter of the board (A-K), then the number from the master's side to the opposite side. S for Seamus L for Lady J etc... ex. Ronin spawns from Seamus workbench, moves to SC3, ends turn. ex. Ronin rips for exhaustion, moves to SB3, MINE!, moves to SC5, ends turn. We will take it to pms after posting our teams. So more people should play eachother on here! My Team: Seamus Hooded Rider Bette Noire Nurse Punk Zombie Rotten Belle Malifaux Cherub Convict Gunslinger Ronin edit: also I will post pics of our game for curious eyes
  7. Hey, so I'm pretty interested in playing by forum or skype if anyone has time for a game, 8/23. I am US central time zone. No classes all day! I won the demo board from gen con draft tourney and some of the new plastic puppets if that entices you to play with me more
  8. Ditto! Which night did you play? I played Saturday night. The thing about Gen Con on Sunday is that most people head out early. A 4 hour tourney is just not in the cards. I would have done it if it was earlier.
  9. Wow! After reading the other thread on a Puppet Wars League, I was thinking it would be cool to start a play-by-forum, and then found this thread! So ya, anyone want to play-by-forum? I could also do whole sessions, but with my schedule it would be easier to PBF. All it requires is two honest people. I'm one of them! I have the entire metal set commercially available, plus two teddies. And now twenty plastic ones from a draft at Gen Con. So I have Pokey Vic and Hooded Rider in addition to more pawns.
  10. You learn something new every day Thats a game changing finger....for pandas that is I laughed my *** off at Evil baby orphanage, can't wait for the KS expansions. Great game, can play with LOTS of players, and too damn funny.
  11. * cough cough*, 1 of each master, *cough cough*, can't count them all on one hand, *cough cough*, unless you know sign language, *cough cough*, do the math, *cough cough* Achhem excuse me, bad cough from all those germ spreaders at gen con. Anyways, like I said, there may or may not be new models and expansions waiting in the wings after the release. I may or may not have heard that. Also the table was a little like the mommy wine brigade after so-and-so remodeled their kitchen, so take this with a grain of salt. Also the 3 player game was a blast! I never tried it before, as I felt cramped on the old board. The new board had so much room for activities!
  12. honestly, I don't know if I will play with metals, I mean, yeah, I painted all of them- but the new sculpts are just that awesome.
  13. I won a casual draft tourney last night and got one of the demo copies. We played with the new plastic. 3 masters, 6 total puppets each. They didn't tell me not to say anything, so I will say that from the 20 demo plastic miniatures that I got, that NOBODY will be sad. I can' t WAIT to see the rest! THEY LOOK AMAZING! and holy crap the NEW BOARD! So GREAT! Perfect size (bigger!), miniatures are so much easier to paint with new positions, more defined details, additions to the sculpt. I may or may not have been told some very exciting news about things that may or may not be released. And I'm excited. So yeah, new set may or may not have new puppets. And I'm excited. Pretty much, if anyone was slightly interested in PW before, they will be DAMN well interested in buying it now. They quality of the art and minis is fantastic compared to 1st ed, which was really good itself. I'm going to write up some reviews on BGG about both the preview of PW and evil baby orphanage ( WHICH I LOVED:) ) Also, if wyrd needs a new playtester for PW or EBO.....
  14. Lol, you're playing the wrong board games then. There are TONS of fantastic, interesting, meaty games out there.
  15. yuuup. I've been looking in the announcement thread everyday for "Wyrd Plastic and PUPPET WARS" but, sadly, no such post has been made yet. So I now I watch the funding for Evil Baby Orphanage climb by thousands each day.
  16. I don't think they updated the homepage...pretty sure the September release thing meant September 2011. Puts the nurse on a whole new level of awesomeness when you realize that huh? I like to keep her in my pocket for when I need that, or when I see that cute big brown teddy bear with blood-stained teeth picking them free of his brother's stuffing with Joss's throwing axe. Ya. She's pretty useful.
  17. It would be really nice if they had a limited special (say...during GenCon) that would fill out the rest of the set if you bought one of each metal set to begin with. I have no clue what I will do with the extra uniques. Also heres to hoping that the puppets not included in the boosters are available in the plastic version. Which after seeing the recent posting, I am sure puppet wars will look just as good! Top quality plastic is my fav. And since this is being marketed as a child between boardgames and miniature games, the boardgame community will appreciate the plastic too. We like our plastic.
  18. Right now at Artscow.com there is free shipping on playing cards. Which I THINK includes the multi-purpose cards. You can customize the front and back of each card with that. Free-shipping is a big deal, since they are made in Asia. I've used them before and really like the product. So if anyone wanted to use this method with these files, it is really simple but a bit time consuming. You can share the completed card files with other people so they can make the deck too. I started doing it, but then decided that although the stat cards are too big, I'm not going to use them for anything else so might as well live with it. If you do it I would suggest croping each of his images, save a file for each one, upload those, and drag them and size them there. If you use his image raw, you have to blow it up quite a bit as it autosizes to the image. Cropping and uploading you have to shrink it a bit, which is WAY better because the text will keep clear. The code is : PLAYINGCRD expires: 8/15/12
  19. beautiful steampunk goodness
  20. The difference is clear. Now and then. Still working away at a lot of techniques, having lots of fun! I think I will be able to learn more quickly on the larger figures of Space Hulk 3rd Ed. I'll be painting next. Easier to see whats working and what needs work. Thanks for looking! C&C welcome! I got a private comment to change my spray sealer to a paint on one to avoid the dusty look that some of the minis got. Would love to hear more! The bases are intentionally dirty, chipped, uneven, messy, etc... I wanted a workshop floor look.
  21. Thanks! Here are some more pictures that I guess didn't download the first time You can see my attempts at source lighting some eyes and learning to wet blend, two-brush blend, and using inks (super happy with the rust on the hound). I didn't think that I would like the Ice Golem work that I did, but its really growing on me. I like the chunky, wet, old, snow look to it.
  22. And there they are. All commercially available puppets and my two bonus teddies for making entering the contest with my pimped out self-made puppet wars box. Painting was a TOTAL learning experience. I got better the more that I did. Comparing early ones to ones that I just did is pretty amazing. I was going to re-do some of them, but since Gen Con is coming with MORE, I think I will wait and do those. Probably not the best to learn on as they are so small, but it was a lot of fun! The zombie chihuahua is one of my favorites. He turned out really well in my opinion. So 50 puppets later, I am ready to move on to Space Hulk 3rd Ed. C&C Welcome!!!
