  1. Thursday was 25, Saturday was 35, invitational was 35. Those are the only events I'm sure of.
  2. The pulse trick will work once. If you link to a doggy and just make melee attacks; that will work just fine as well. move 18" and make 3 attacks; it is something that guild is not exactly known for. And that idea only needs 1 performer. Hell, you could even hit n run; dog + companion the master, move 18", hoffman machine puppets himself 3 times and activates the mannequin who moves back 8". you'll break the link, probably will still get the dog killed, but you are moving like a corphee duet and hitting like lady J. Really there are a lot of things you can do using link; grab the treasure turn 2; destroy / plan some evidence. Sure your warden can pull you 15"; but this can pull you 18" and then an other 8" after you activated.
  3. like any trick, people will learn. you counter this list by splitting up; except that if you split up the performers can split you up more than you want to using the sirens call. So it is actually not a very easy list to play against as it punishes clumping as well as punishes over extending.
  4. There is a lot of time limit rage it seems like. Personally I like time limits, and more aggressive is more fun for me. Time limits will never suit everyone, doesn't matter which way you go; they just won't. The best advice i can give is to use chess clocks for the more competitive events. Leave it up to the players to budget their own time. And if they are unable to complete in the alotted time they lose. Telling people they can't play doesn't work, penalizing people by matching them up against people who cannot manage their time does not work. for gencon i would suggest 1 chess clock qualifier, chess clock masters and add extra time to one of the other events as an intro tournament. let players chose what they like. Note: I realize not every crew needs the same amount of time to play, but just because you put xxxx on the table should not mean that I have to accept that the game will only go to turn 2. If you want to play lots of activstions you can with chess clocks, but you are managing your own time, not mine.
  5. but is you link a manequin to him you always have 3 armor; well almost always. the hound has companion master; that is it's selling point. turn 1 you link, so it really would not work. turn 2 is the earliest. Well; actions are talents. So I think this is all legal.
  6. not sure on the copying link; you might have to hitch a ride on a rider and liunk things to the rider. Going to have to reread those rules. if you can copy link the hound one wins; Active hound (close to an other hound), companion master, run 18" Activate hoffman, pulse 3 times and make the toolkit slow Activate the maniquin w/ your 0 (and do whatever else) Companion the manequins, use the 0 to use soulstones and polish off anything that survived the 15 damage from pulses. if you win initiative and your opponent does not know this is possible you might whipe some crews straight off the board turn 2. Honeslty I was just looking for ways to kill night terrors, but at 15-18 damage to everything w/in 3" a lot more things would die. I was also looking at performers in guild as the sirens call is probably the most valauble in guild; there is so little movement of enemy models in the faction that it really is tempting; altough the 5 point lure that can accept 2 differnet suits is sweet as well.
  7. So after Gencon I tried to figure out how guild could hunt down clusters of night terrors. It looks like C. Hoffman has the best mobility to get this done; and he can effectively fly. The following is a core; add models to taste Guild Crew - 23 - Core C. Hoffman -- 4 Pool Mobile Toolkit [4ss] Performer & Mannequin [8ss] Performer & Mannequin [8ss] Watcher [3ss] So this is the setup; Mannequin activates and links to the watcher (ignoring rules is fun); Mannequin 2 activates and links to the watcher. Hoffman copies link and links to the watcher. Now if the watcher moves Hoffman can tag along and end his movement surrounded by 4 constructs; as the Toolkit tags along as well. Those are 6 damage pulses with a +4 casting. it is pretty funny. If you don't need fly you can link to a guild hound so you can companion Hoffman; only 5 damage pulses with a +3 casting, but hey, you get to chain your activations. you don't need 2 performers, just 1 to be able to copy link and have the portable +3 armor to take with; but if you have 2 you can heal a lot as both performers can repair each other 2 times a round (ignoring slow). Hoffman w/ beautiful clothes is also an amusing option; but I'm unsure if you can copy object as it is not in the usual talent section.
  8. because his crew is countered exceptionally hard by things like papa loco, wichling stalkers, and other models with AOE attacks, burst attacks, and death bursts. Only the effigies and the stitched have a chance against those things. Hamlin the minion would also be pretty terrifying to have to face. Collodi would be the one I'm familiar with, but I imagine that many gremlin crews would feel the same way; Some masters have less flexibility than others; but henchmen are really limited in their options. I imagine that being immune to influence would be pretty good against the Resurrectionist henchman. So it doesn't impact many master options a lot. But if you do this you should realize that some of those options become really hard to play competitively. ---------- Post added at 07:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:00 AM ---------- only spiders can do that. otherwise you have to agree that all walls have the climbable trait. There is no climb action that you can perform in Malifaux so either the terrain lets you or you have something that grants it to the terrain.
  9. this is for 8 games played during gencon. Time limits on the event - we know everyone felt rushed and we will be looking at the time limits on events. -- I liked them where they were. Keep the end of round mechanics consistent over the entire weekend. Terrain - we know there were no trees, rivers, water features, etc. The boards are Terraclips because that's what travels, it looks good, and its a featured Wyrd product. This is unlikely to change. -- If terain stays the same then expect flight and spirit to stay dominant; and factions with ample access to place better. Single Elimination - we are aware that Single Elimination is not a common format. We will do better in explaining this for the future. -- not ideal with ties but I guess it worked. So, with that, here are some specifics we would like to hear your feedback on: Declaring your Master - the competitive events had players declare their master before hiring their crews. Opinions? -- some masters would be really hard to run (Collodi) and people with good model access can counter others. It really rewards model access & experience. Adjusted Destroy the Evidence - what did you think about the Destroy the Evidence changes? -- all markers were destroyed in our game, but it took 8 turns. Changes to Treasure Hunt - what did you think about the Treasure Hunt changes? -- that was the game where my opponent got 4 red jokers. I'm unsure what the changes were, I was a bit frustraded. Terrain Density - we tried to increase the terrain density from last year. Was it sufficient? -- density was good, placing more terrain felt valuable. Terrain Types - we tried to increase the amount of "4 sides open topped buildings" along with multi-floor structures. Opinions? -- more impasible terain and places that spirits / flying models could not reside. more area terain; these boxes really were amazing for spirits and flying models that did not want to get shot. It really made it imposible to cover aproach lanes to your models untill they were in melee. Scoring - TP/Diff/VP was the format used, opinions on this as the sole format used through the event. -- liked it.
  10. I played at gencon; had games go to turn 3 and end a few activations in, and had games go to turn 8 and complete. Granted, I play fast; I've played hardcore in privateer press a number of time including with 30+ model count armies. But the big trick is that you have to know your cards, or stick with what you know. If you have to read your card to see what you can do, you'll run out of time. If you read your cards to verify that you can do what you are planning to do you should be fine. The time limits were fine for me, altough it would have helped if I knew the game better. As long as it was strategies I was familiar with it was pretty easy; the ones I had not really played before; not so much and made many mistakes. but the again I went into Gencon having played ~20-30 games. But I ahd an idea of the masters I was considering for wich strategies. But yeah, if you don't have an idea of what you can do, and you don't have an idea of what you want to play, and you don't have your models easily accesible; well then time limits won't work for you.
  11. in the showcase match jacob was whiped off the board (slaughter); I think he got some schemes, but there were 3 twins left kicking at the end. so in not a single tournament that I played in did we use the Terra-mats as terrain, we just saw pretty pictures w/ a maze of walls. the lack of 3rd dimension just made me ignore it. The terrain for avatars was more dense than for the other events and there were no boxes in walls. It was better laid out and the only annoying thing was trying to find places out of LoS from Zorida as she started at Ht 3 in the deployment zone. Teraclips terain is easy, it is fast; but it measn that there is really no dificult terrain, just walls. So fly and spirit reighn supreme. There was also no impassable terrain other than the walls (which were a few mm thick) Rereading over all my rules screwups (oh god I made so many it is embaresing) it also looks like unless you are a spider you can't climb. so that is kinda special. So I only know his round 1 matchup as that was against me. It was a zorida grow list and shared line in the sand. So I missed the last line of line in the sand (the insignificant bit) and picked a crew to avoid fighting as I figured that would be a lost cause vs twins (there were just 3 large based nephelim in practice). So 2 miners, colette + avatar, cassandra & mechanical rider. But I screwed up so many rules that it really isn't worth going into the game. But yeah, if you go to gencon, make sure you can ignore walls. Please note that the terrain I'm used to leaves 10% of the table as impassible. But that is just what is around the local gaming group. We also use 18 pieces, some of wich are 4"x4", rarely smaller than a 50mm base.
  12. nice. next year gencon I might bring some rezers.
  13. are green stuffed models legal in tournaments?
  14. So one thing that was kinda sorta hited on is that there is a players rewards program that is starting up soon So chances are that some limited-ish stuff might show up there as well, possilby said model. So yeah, bid to your hearts content but remember that this is a very speculative deal. And I doubht that they made ~100 plastic models pacakged in cardboard boxes. Just setting up the machines would be extremely cost prohibitive. I would not be suprised if there is a run of 1,000 that will end up in circulation. Oh, and plastic molds don't really wear out as fast as the rubber ones.
  15. aColette is better w/o show girls, Arcane Effergy is better w/ aColette as your doves all die and you want a Soulstone reserve before you manifest. Is aColette great in a crew full of show girls; nope, but if you run non-show girls she can do much more than Colette. In short aColette loses every buff & interactions concerning show girls in favor of getting 6AP. aColette is a completely different crew than Colette.
  16. yeah, arcane effigy is really good for aColette to help soul stone factorying the first few turns.
  17. didn't bother asking that part, sorry. I think that one is pretty clear, the target needs to have use soul stone, similar to "target enemy model" the model must be enemy. but that is my opinion.
  18. I've had it happen twice, masters and the 35 point grinder @ gencon. so her sceme is actually really easy to succeed in, hell you can do completion turn 1 if you relaly want to. Just set 8 asside and go from there. aColette is really interesting, lots of AP, lots of triggers, I'm very impressed with it for sceme compeltion purposes. It is a soulstone hungry avatar from hell tough. Also what you can acomplish with an amazing hand is crazy, but a bad hand and it is very meh. the 1-1-2 damage means that immume to influence models relaly don't care about her.
  19. re-reading what I was doing I'm really happy I lost my masters game. I had a lot of rules screwed up. Altough aColette is speaking a lot more to me these days, lots of neat shenenigans that you can do with them
  20. Gencon tournament ruling was that you get the stone. This doesn't really mean a whole lot. Also the same wording w/ period is used in the new book for the 10 thunder master.
  21. If games go to time then you get 3 significant models. It is some serious bs. I'm sure that that will get cleared up.
  22. It was 35 points and the retain was build out of Tera clips without roofs ( mostly ) So one of the driving factors in the tournaments was what do you have with flight, spirit etc. Flight was extremely powerful all tournament as you don't have to pay vertical distance when you fly over walls. as for rezers, not a whole lot of players in general. Anyway getting into the avatar tournament was relatively easy if you did the grinder, it probably went down to the top ~16. In the 25 point event there was very little neverborn btw. the archanists were all running Colette, some had a secondary master as well, every neverborn master saw play in the avatar tournament. Even the new guy if you count the last game. But yeah, terrain is a huge driver of the results. You were effectively playing an open toped maze. So yeah, as there is no improved climb you were pretty sol in some scenarios, like open topped squares w/o doors. There are a lot of models i would not bring to gencon next year. But i got kicked first round of avatars. Soulstone miners did not work as i thought, on the bright side we found out before it did much harm.
  23. comptetitive Arcanists involves a lot of models, there is really no master in archanists that can do everything, but they are all good at some stuff. http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?34055-Competitive-Arcanists has a more detailed discussion.
