  1. Thanks for all the suggestions and links! A few last questions. What are some quick lists to run for the Guild / Neverborn of the figures I own? What would be the first 2-3 purchases you'd make for each list? Thanks again, I appreciate the insight.
  2. In order to run Arcanists, would I have to round out both Colette and Ramos?
  3. Speaking of, what models would be key for Arcanists and Ressurectionists? Thanks.
  4. Yes, that's part of it. I realized that's how they worked, and I apologize if I was unclear. My question was, given that, what faction would cover my important bases (i.e., what set of models would give me the tools to handle each strategy that I may generate reasonable well). Does that make more sense?
  5. So, I am attending GenCon in 24 hours, and due to a strange set of circumstances, am looking to try to play Malifaux there (I know most of the events are filled, but I'm hoping to sub in). At worst, this will give me a good excuse to paint some models. I'm a fairly experienced minis player, but have limited Malifaux experience. I don't mind trying trial by fire learning for more complicated Masters if I get pointers of where to go in the right direction. Another catch - if I can manage two lists, I'm bringing a list for a friend. With the following models, what two lists would you suggest me running with? Do tournaments tend to allow model selection AFTER the mission has been determined? The Guild: Lady Justice The Judge Death Marshals x3 Perdita Nino Papa Loco Santiago Francisco The Executioner Outcasts: Leveticus Hollow Waif Rusty Alyce Steampunk Abominations x4 Killjoy Ressurectionists: Kirai Ikiryo Datsue-Ba Seishin Onryo x2 Miss Pack x2 Seamus's entire box Arcanists: Colette Cassandra Performers and Mannequins x4 Ramos Steamborg: Executioner Class Steampunk Arachnid Swarms x2 Joss Brass Arachnid Electrical Creation x2 Sabertooth Cerebrus December Acolyte Marcus Beastmaster Neverborn: Waid Geist Silurid x3 Pandora's Entire box
  6. It's listed on the news page, here: http://www.wyrd-games.net/newsevents?q=node/95 Has through October.
  7. It's only the book 2 stuff, not the book 1 stuff. Still a good deal.
  8. I think you are all missing something huge - Night Terrors aren't insignificant. We'll get back to that in a moment. They fly 6" for a walk and can pull others for a 0 action - this translates into an 18" range, guaranteed. I've seen the Cerebus noted as "ridiculous" for being able to move 19" in a round. But here, these little guys don't have to cast to do, can fly for the whole movement and are significantly cheaper to boot. Their "Attracted to Noise" is just gravy. They're not exactly fragile, either, especially for the cost. At ht 1, fast and mobile, they're easy to hide. But their DF and WD are both solid, and their other abilities round out these characteristics to make them not so easy to bring down, played well. So why do you care, Master Marcus? Let's take a look at the new Schemes, shall we? You mean the Arcanists have two schemes that require models to get to remote portions of the board, for lots of victory points? Ah, but they can't be completed by Insignificant models. If only we had cheap, non-Insignificant models...
  9. You might want to consider doing it at a convention, something where people are going to travel to anyways. Traveling for a cosplay might be a bit much, but if you're already around for a convention, it's a lot easier to get involved.
  10. Thanks, I appreciate the responses. I just wanted to make sure I didn't pick two boxes where the match up is very rough.
  11. Both of my FLGS do not run Malifaux games (yet), so it's up to me to create interest. With that in mind, I need to run demos. However, I'm a rather new player to the game, so I'm turning to the community for suggestions. What makes for a good demo Crew? I don't mind buying a few extra models either, to round out a box. I'm looking to pick up 3-4 Crews to show off the game. My current starter is Ramos, however, that's not very well suited to new players. I see the Ortegas mentioned as popular with new players, so they seem an easy choice. My only concern is that they also seem to be a very rough match up for many Crews, so I need to ensure the other Crews I choose stand a reasonable chance. Lilith and LJ are noted in other threads as being a good match, but I'd like to be able to run two games at once, or mix and match Crews. I've gathered the impression that the McMourning and Marcus starting Crews are notably poor, and I'd rather try to stick with Crews that need a minimal amount of extra models involved. Also, what SS tends to work best for demo'ing the game? Thanks for your time.
