This was probably the most manic Hour ever spent on a Mini!!

So!!! does the hour start as soon as the before pic hits the thread? then we get an Hour! then we get half hour to get the after pic up? so we have half hour to take a photo and get it into the thread? each thread has a time stamp in the top left corner! so as long as the time stamp doesnt show more than 1hr 30 mins from original entry time it will be ok? just me making sure lol

Agrax Earth shade is ok! it is a bit thicker than Devlan Mud i just do a 1-1 mix with water and hey presto back in the game! but for skin i prefer a base of bleached bone(ushabti bone) and ogryn flesh!(reikland flesh) works fine

looks like top is the winner for me!! cheers guys and yes they are all privateer press models first, 4th and last are Iron Kingdoms. all the rest are WM. Anastasia wont take much converting, cut away the throwing knives and could always make a staff to the book image and have it stuck in the ground or on her back with the sword or even replace the sword for the staff. wouldnt take an aweful lot of doing!! think I may order one or 2 of these models to convert and make up my mind !! cheers guys.

Getting all jittery waiting for Vanessa to be released so Ive been looking for a proxy! Here is what I have found so far??? Im opting for Pic 1 so far with a bit of converting this could work well!! But any of these could be converted!! Any Thoughts??

there is a whole thread regarding Shang there is good advice in that thread! in case ya cant find it! the tail comes over the back of Shang kind of like a scorpion tail and not underneath like some people have done! the picture in the thread shows how it works :-)

Hey! buy ya self some miliput and mix a good bit together and cut it into your required sized brick! thats what I did! and the results arnt that bad! take a quick peek in my album at the A Line in the sand markers! alternatively you can go to http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/pegasus-hobbies-28mm-small-bricks-red/ contemplated actually making a scale house out of them??

Ive done it many times before with lots of things! so im pretty confident with the task ahead! if the archers didnt have the veils i would just assemble as normal so the heads will get painted the body assembled prepared and undercoated then on with his head!! hatched this plan because i saw how small the gap is to paint the faces!! Im confident and will post pics when I get them done once bought of course! :-)

hey guys!! ive just been doing some surfing for green stuff! in the UK i use Wayland games and have just noticed they do their own green stuff! 9 inch bar for £3.96 thats more product for half the price of GW. GW in the USA charge $10 plus p+p now ive noticed Wayland ship to the USA here is the good thing! wayland will send green stuff airmail for £2. making the sum £5.96 in USD thats $9.63 roughly thats still 37cents cheaper than GW basic and without P+P it works out a hell of a lot cheaper to get it from the UK rather than mail order GW domestic!! just shows how GW over price things lots! im sure local stores will do an equivelant cheaper to but isnt it crazy how buying something from a UK store is cheaper than GW usa product!! no idea about Miliput lol

Liquid Green stuff is the way forward for small gaps, normal green stuff is awesome for larger gaps and sculpting detail. back in the day of the plastic soldier and model air craft, I used to bath the plastics in a weak warm water detergent mix to wash of any release compound! never had a problem with filler or glue. I put Lazarus together without bathing it and had no issues! Wyrd plastics seem fine to me!

in the picture the sub tail curls up and over but a lot of people are curling it under behind the back legs! if this is the case and it wont sit right because of the left hind leg then a simple fix is the heat the plastic with a hair dryer and bend the end of the sub tail away from the leg! but looking at the pic above the correct way is up and over!!

Im a huge Misaki TTB fan so was elated at Misaki being made Master, the minis look great and as I missed out on Gencon orders Im having to wait for stockist in the UK to get their shelves filled so I can order my TTB faction. until then I have had some good luck with advice from members of my game club who got Gencon orders so all the fiddley bits have been explained so i now have a cunning plan! TTB archers I am going to paint the heads on the sprue before assembling the models the veils go on before the hats. Misaki will be getting pinned and the totem will be pre assembled before glueing as the tails looks awkward if glued without checking first. Bring on TTB faction!!!

I wouldnt paint layers, I would undercoat with white! base coat bleached bone or a lighter colour even white scar(skull White), then a seraphim sepia(gryphone sepia) wash, then a light Agrax Earth shade( devlan mud) wash, and then add further agrax washes to detail and recesses of the stone building as many as it takes to reach your end goal. and then high light edges of stone with bleached bone but dont over dry brush or apply too much paint! then I would paint the foliage as normal layering and a wash with highlights. but thats just me !! we all do things different!

I paint for free if its a mate! never thought of charging! if i quit my job then maybe i would do it as a money earner! but as i think my own stuff is average quality i wouldnt charge! but would consider £10 a mini to be a nice round sum! 10 minis would earn £100 which sounds like a good deal to me! But as i say for mates i would be happy to just have a cuppa and a good laugh! which is always a good reward!

I find green stuff goes off too quick for sculpting detail, Miliput gives longer working time which I like! can put it down have lunch then go back to it after but once it is as I want it the down side is leaving it over night for complete hardening! For super fine detail its definitely green stuff, as miliput will crumble! smallest thing ive done with milliput is dynamite markers (in my Album) and fillied in bubbles on resin models! Miliput is very versatile in its use! and can be used for many things! I find a mix of products in my tool kit is the way forward for best results.

I use miliput for converting miniatures and basing! I buy cracked earth bases from Model display products but i was in a rush for a 40mm for my lazarus so i decided to copy the pattern using miliput fine white and as mentioned above i pressed it onto a brick and then carves in the cracks if ya look in my album and look at the bases its pretty similar if not spot on. so Miliput is awesome for basing !!

Isnt the whole idea of supporting the game to actually purchase the items they produce? its not like Wyrd are like GW with huge prices, the books are relatively in expensive and the mini's are reasonably priced! and with discounts from distributing stores who can argue? buy a book and support the system! if people want to proxy then all the stats are right there in the books! Also Ratty has blank stat cards, download the file and make a stat card for your proxy! buy a book transfer the stats to the blank stat cards! for a few minutes work you have Wyrd friendly products. That's the way forward till the actual product is on the shelves.

some of the new plastic box sets come with spare arms! may be mr tannen or graves? have a look at them? ya will get new crew and spares! double win!!
