  1. To be honest, I've only been playing Malifaux for about a month and a half, so I'm trying to steer clear at the moment, while I wrap my head (and wallet - I got bitten by the Malifaux bug big time) around this game. Having said that, a mate is ordering Puppet Wars and all the extras at Gen Con, so when they get here, I'll probably get hooked then. I do like some of the puppets, but it seems at the moment you can only buy the packs - I'm holding off for now. Time will tell how long that lasts.
  2. Not one of mine, but a GW store manager I know used to be particular about telling people how to use undercoat - make sure its a well ventilated room etc etc... Well, undercoating a Blood Bowl team, he nearly passed out from the fumes of said undercoat...
  3. Likewise, can I include Hoffman in a list with Rasputina, as long as I have say... Joss?
  4. Got myself the Vallejo GAME range, comes with three wonderful paintbrushes. Malifaux is the game that actually got me painting, so I have the paints set near the computer for painting + inspiration. The glue of choice at the moment is Rapid Fix - capable of gluing almost anything to almost anything. Including it's own lid. That means that when I use it, I have to take the lid off the pot of glue, and I have an old paintbrush I brush the glue on with. One day, I was so excited about my progress, I knocked the glue over. It spilled out pretty badly, and I hastened to move what I could, to save what I could. My main brush was destroyed, I nearly glued a Sabretooth to the desk, but instead it stuck itself to a GW wash lid, an old GW paint stuck to my pallet and in that small time (maybe thirty seconds at the most) a file stuck to the desk. I now have a chunk of desk missing from where I took the file out, and an island of dried glue (complete with part of a paper napkin I tried to clean it up with) that measures about three inches by 5 inches, and is about three millimetres high - that has a bit missing about the size of a 50mm base from where the Sabretooth was.
  5. I'm always at TGA - both North and Central. Fully booked for tomorrow though. I went to NWS Wednesday just gone, but gaming of a weeknight is a rarity for me (barring Fridays) due to work and what nots. Weeknights are the nights I sit around doing nothing... <EDIT> I walked out of the shop around 2pm, and less than 6 hours later I have finished painting and basing Snow Storm. Oh, included in that was a break to cook a roast beef for dinner... Paint job's not wonderful, but I like it. Hoping to get a pic of it tomorrow. Oh wait... I wonder what my iPhone's like...
  6. I'm starting to really hate Wyrd... Finally got my hands on Snow Storm, and what have I done? Well an hour and a half ago the model was in pieces, now it's been base coated, after chopping the base so I could glue Snow into place after painting her seperately. At this rate, it'll be ready for basing by dinner time, base after dinner, and debut tomorrow at my local club.
  7. Perhaps instead of an interact being (0), make it cost one less? for example, and interact (1) becomes interact (0), whilst an interact (2) becomes an interact (1).
  8. Interesting - I think the best way to work out how it works is with a few games. But you have inspired me - I might have to start working on something myself...
  9. Well said about the making it back there Odin. One of the first things I realised about this game when I started playing is that you could potentially lose all of your models, to your opponent losing none and still end up 8-0 winner. In this game, models don't have to 'make their SS back' they have to combine their efforts to achieve the victory conditions. If a model like Bishop can contribute, that's just awesome.
  10. I think he's good the way he is, in fact I plan on picking one up on the weekend - along with a couple of other Mercs... the way I'm ending up I might as well pick up the Vicki start box as well, just so I can use all these Mercs...
  11. I've had one game with a Snow Storm (proxied cos mine's still on it's way). The Snow Storm works well, but I think it's one of those things for a bigger game. I'm toying with getting a couple more crews, but with Rasputina, in a large scrap, he's worth it. Played a couple of 55 SS games, one with him, one without, and yeah - he's worth his points. Just not in a small game of 30 SS or less.
  12. That's exactly the case, if you can get some spells off nicely, you're in no 'real' danger. In the game I mentioned above, by the end of turn one, he lost three models out of five, by the end of turn two he lost Lilith, and by the end of turn three... well, we didn't get there... I was using my standard Rasputina list for 30SS (I've not been playing too long, so the model count is still low): Rasputina Essence of Power Silent One Ice Golem 3 x Ice Gamin
  13. I had that recently, although I was lucky enough that he clumped three models together and I had the red joker in hand. A single negative flip for damage is never scary with the essence of power handy. Destroyed two of the models, then the third, and casting expert took out half of Lilith.
  14. Check educational suppliers and hardware stores. Even at the hardware store I can get a 2L PVA.
  15. Years ago, GW released a template for some buildings - really easy to make one up - I've got a sheet of foamboard (cost - $10) that will do at least ten buildings of village hut size. Combine with some PVA (which most hobbyists would have - or buy some for $5) Add some trimmed card (hell even cereal boxes) for details, and paint accordingly. I'm actually planning on doing some this weekend... As for bulk PVA - pending on how much you need... I work for an educational supplier, we sell it ranging from the usual 250ml, right up to 20L tubs.
  16. I had something like that recently, but where my opponent didn't have everything done - I kind of felt ripped off... from that moment I decided that for league/campaign or tournament games of any system, if it's not painted - it's not played.
  17. Damn straight: Years 0-14 Model Count: 0 Year 15 Model Count: 40 And almost half of that in the last month. Did I mention I've started work on a 12 man Blood Bowl team, and Lady J? Oh, and I'm still waiting for Snow Storm and a second Sabretooth? By the end of the two month period I'll be looking at close to completing 40 models...
  18. Cheers! For some reason I felt like I had to clarify my painting for this year - I painted one model for a one night start to finish paint comp (a BattleMech), I painted two models because I thought I should at least try to learn how to paint (Hordes), then I painted a converted Blood Bowl team for a tournament I was in at the start of March, which accounts for the remainder of the list. The only reason I painted those is that the guy who was going to, pulled out late into it, so I had to get them done. The thing with the Malifaux stuff is I wanted to have painted models, so I bought a ticket to Dead Man's Head, where they must be painted...
  19. Well, if I count my 4 Ice Pillars (which I do, as they are game related), Taelor would bring the count up to 40 completly painted and based models this year. I've been playing tabletop gaming in some form now for gee... 15+ years, and to be honest, I think this year outweighs the other 14 odd years by ooh... 40 completed models... Have many half painted ones, but actual completed (that I did) is few and far between. Oh, sorry, the other part of your question: Malifaux models - 15. All done in the past 25 days.
  20. Got home last night to find a parcel waiting for me. It was the second book (hey, only been playing for like four weeks) and Taelor. When I left for work this morning, she was painted and based to match my Rasputina Crew...
  21. Apparently I need to drop her somewhere first, so not sure what time I'll get there, but I will still get there!
  22. Actually... what the hell. The better half's out on Wednesday night, should be able to go out myself! I'll be there too.
  23. I've painted my female desperate merc in the same blues as the rest of the Cult of December, but with fiery red hair, and pale skin. I also did the same snowy base, and I think she fits in well - looking forward to adding Snow Storm to the list (ordered), as well as some other Mercs...
  24. Fair call there Tiny. I guess you can only work with the resources you have, and from the look of the pics, the resources are quite good. I'm hoping that the pics from Dead Man's Head here in August live up to the standard that you've set here...
  25. Tonight I'm going to be having a crack at Lady J. Have intentions of using her crew, but not until September, so I'm in no rush. I'll also be doing four more bases of Ice Pillars, as well as some severe terrain markers should they be destroyed. Hopefully on Wednesday I'll have a parcel arrive, at which point I'll be painting *insert mystery figure here*, and when I get my Wryd order, I'll be getting stuck straight into Snow Storm and my replacement Sabretooth... Oh, and I need to get a Blood Bowl team stripped and painted before the end of the month as well... :help: Why oh why did I start painting, I was so content not doing it...
