  1. It goes like this in simple terms: 1) You deal Dg to defender - you are now in the "damage dealing" step 2) Defender is killed! *Slow to Die interrupts the sequence. Completely resolve the model's Slow to Die action* 3) Defender is removed from the table - you are now finished "damage dealing" 4) You are now "after damaging" so One Fluid Motion lets you move
  2. You control the model for that action, and the action is not over until it is fully resolved, including after effects. Them's just the rules, if they don't believe you I can explain it in person in a couple of weeks ---------- Post added at 05:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:54 PM ---------- You can take the Student with Lucius, since he is allowed to hire totems (unless he's changed since the book). No go on companion though.
  3. Did you play Mantis too? Honestly after just a couple of months (or is it even that long?) of playing Rezzers exclusively I'm already bored to death with them. I wanted to set myself a challenge, but all I've done is homogenised their models into the only few that are actually capable of winning, and come to the conclusion that most of the others are incapable of winning. And try as I might I can't bring myself to take terrible masters to a tournament, and I don't fancy playing nonstop McMourning/Von Schill for the rest of the year. Might be time to switch to Guild. At least they have a whole plethora of viably mediocre, slow moving models, instead of just a few. Yeh Strumpet, I think you just talked me out of the Rezzers 2012 project and into the Guild 2012 project. At least I can still use Von Schill
  4. *Generally very slow *Generally very easy to kill, despite HtW, because of low Df *Worst masters in the game of all factions- two of the worst (Seamus and Nico) and one middling (McM). Only master that is truly top quality uses totally different models, theme and style of play and doesnt feel like you're playing the faction at all (Kirai) *I didnt even mention Molly above because she's so bad *Worst master and faction schemes - one of them is very niche usable (McM's) and the rest are never worth taking *Poor minion selection - forced to look to Mercenaries for good minions, and the minions in faction that are good get repetitive fast *Very aggravating to get a new book with literally 2 usable models (McM and Seamus avatar)
  5. You cant actually block the treasure with melee. Annoyingly. It's clearly a rules oversight, but people can just walk up and take it.
  6. Von Schill could cost 12 and I'd still run him in every Rezzer list pretty much. He's amazingly good. He's better than most masters in the game. The only thing that keeps him down as a leader is his 4 cache, which is why running him with McMourning is so epic.
  7. Not for all games. You need the non-Night Terror version too for combative strats and schemes. The combative version of this list is better if you are only going to have one list to start - a combative list can do objective grabbing strats, but an objective grabbing list will come up short in a combative strat. Bete pops out whenever you can get her to pop out usefully. Personally I like to shoot things with Von Schill early and pop Bete out in the middle of their lines a lot, but it really depends on situation. Bete and Rider at the same time? They really don't have any particular synergy, they're just the best models Rezzers have to offer from their limited pool of good models pretty much. Also remember; that list is very unique to me, and though I consider it the "best" McMourning list, you may find it doesn't work so well for you. Copying a proven list is a good way to take listbuilding out of the equation whilst you learn but don't be afraid to experiment with other stuff if you see a use for it. Edit: Oh, and just to reinforce, you absolutely must have a Rogue Necromancy and a Flesh Construct to summon. You will summon one or both every game. Also when you can, get a second flesh construct, as you'll very quickly start summoning a second one once you get used to managing body parts or when you get mired in very bloody games.
  8. You should under no circumstances be running Drowned. They add nothing to the list, particularly not for 4 points! Drop both Belles and add a Soulstone (McM needs Soulstones like a boss, and you can always drop one later but start with 8 and then work backwards); now you have 7 ss to work with. If you're running Dogs, either run 1 or 3+; McMourning will always cut one up for counters, and a single dog loses most of its good abilities. And in reality, I like a dog pack of 3 to add resiliency to their significance and Df debuff, so consider bumping dogs to 4 or leaving them at 1. Ordinarily I'd not suggest dogs with a McMourning list at all as he doesnt really gain anything from their death, light on summoning as he is. Basically if you remove your Rotten Belles and a Dog, add Bete Noir, you have what I consider to be the absolute best McMourning all comers list there is. Bete or Rider will switch out for a flock of 3 Night Terrors (yes, one of those lists is 34ss.... it's still better than any alternative) depending on objective. Occasionally a Desperate Mercenary will make an appearance. But until you get very advanced, you have a pretty killer basic list (and one that hasn't lost a game for me yet in about 15-20 games).
  9. It only leaves one card in the deck that can cast imbue, but we all know imbue is impossible to successfully cast anyway.
  10. Hi Guys The new site/forum look absolutely awesome, but the graphics are incredibly heavy. The site slows to a crawl on mobile devices when loading and even displaying the graphical elements (particularly on slower processor smartphones), and is generally slow to load due on slower connections whether they be 3g or cable based. I love browsing the forums on the go, but I can't anymore (which admittedly many people may consider a good thing...) and I'm sure plenty of other people have similar problems. Are there any plans to optimise the weight and/or load times of the site? Thanks
  11. Ive actually figured out how to make Molly an effective leader. Buy 4 fate decks Combine the crows from all decks into one 52 card deck of crows, and add jokers ... Profit
  12. Yep. Whilst it will affect all corpse counters regardless of who carries them, including enemies, pulses never affect the originator. Drop a RN and a Construct instead (+6bp to Rafkin, +6 cards) and next turn Rafkin can dump out 6 zombies.
  13. Nope, they're specifically different in game. They're still cool cats, though.
  14. Actually I'm pretty sure the original insult directed at me was what made it toxic, but to each his own.
  15. Most balance changes help the game at all levels. But talking about balance regularly apparently makes the atmosphere of the forums toxic.
  16. Except instead of "get over here" he'd say "Im coming over there"?
  17. An "attack" is anything which targets an enemy model (paraphrased; read the rulebook definition). So in essence these are both the same wording and yes, it would work fine with melee spells using the first wording. However - I'm pretty sure that devour sacrifices a target, and doesn't kill it, so you couldnt trigger Eat your Fill with it.
  18. Bit of a funny one that, really. I'd say it doesnt work because the effect is on the terrain. I think it's easiest to consider it as if the terrain had an aura of range "touch"; you could dispel the effect on the model, but it would immediately reapply as the aura originator is still there, just like if you dispel any aura effect on a model in the aura.
  19. Yep, plenty of spaces. 20. "googolplex" Unless you're adding the weight of Google headquarters to this post...
  21. I dont think that any opponent would be bothered by this at all. Malifaux is a game about theme. The tournament rules even allow it (and Wyrd model is allowable as a proxy, as long as you have the correct stat card and your opponent knows what's going on). The only time I dislike proxies is when someone wants to use another copy of a model that's already on the board representing something else, as a proxy (eg: trying to use a Belle as a Zombie when he also has Belles on the board represented by Belle models). Seems Teddy theme crews are having a sudden surge of popularity
  22. Most people agree with this that I've spoken too, it was actually floated quite a while ago by myself and a few others I believe. The major benefit is that it means you arent rock/paper/scissors'ing so much; building to match your opponent's faction might work in theory, but in practice crews vary so wildly by master that you're really just guessing what they could bring. You can build your crew effectively knowing the master. My tournaments are going to be using this rule, honestly I think it's all the rulebook rules need and you have the best system for building your crew to match the game.
  23. Master and minion choice very much depends on your opponent's faction, your schemes, and also the terrain too, so you're missing pieces of the puzzle here. But we can still generalise based on strat. Some of what I say is based on Shared Contain Power; you can ignore that if the scheme is not shared of course, but remember that if you're doing CP you're often exposing your master if going for 4 VP and that is always a consideration. McMourning has the movement and the damage output to catch an enemy master reliably. Add into this that you can run his Master specific scheme (normally two attacks + a dissection for the kill) along with contain power and you get a very good focus on VP (your opponent will know it's coming, but it isnt easy to avoid McMourning). I'd say McMourning is your best option for Contain Power (as he is with most strats, tbh) Seamus is very poor offensively and in general (see other threads on Seamus). With his Avatar though, he is a viable option; you know your opponent has to come to you for VP, so you can afford to sit around and avatar in safety. He also becomes tough to kill in melee once he avatars. As ever though, his low ss cache is a problem; in contain power, you need 8 SS no question for both defense and killing the enemy master, so you're basically 6ss down every game, 8 with the avatar. Seamus is an option for sure, but not one I'd take often or even at all personally. Nicodem will struggle against opposing melee masters as he has no good offense to speak of that isnt ranged and is easy to pin in melee thanks to his low Wk. Also his offense is weak vs masters, being a spell, as your opponent has the advantage of being able to stone after you (especially if you didnt stone), or you have to stone before him and leave him the option of not stoning, giving him control over the flow of stone usage. I dont like this. It's hard to score 4vp with Nico. At the same time he is very easy to catch and very easy to kill, so it makes your opponent killing him easy. I'd avoid Nico for Contain Power wherever possible. Molly... well, let's just not even waste our time talking about Molly Kirai is, as usual, in a class of her own. I've completed CP with her more than once for 4VP but it is not easy; it normally involves Shikome'ing something to low Wd and then Into the Spirit World with Kirai and some stoned melee attacks (maybe or maybe not after a Chill of Death). Generally I'd be happy with taking 2 good schemes and doing CP for 2 points with her and trying for a 6-x win; that's often easier than going for full 4 from CP with other Rezzer masters, as Kirai is in such a league of her own. I'd say she's an option if you're considering the full faction but by no means the best at it (contrary to most schemes where she *is* the best at it) because denying yourself 2VP from the get-go can sometimes be bad and other choices could be better, despite the generally reduced power level. I'm not gonna go through all of the minions, because that is far too dependant on everything else going on to be relevant really.
