  1. My crew is not yet fully finished either which I forgot to mention I believe when I started my post.. and I have a few models you will see among the list for Brawls as I already have scrap allocations filled.. I also have models that are undercoated but not yet started, Male and female gunsmith,a second Ice golem, a 3rd Decembers Acolyte, Ice gamin (all 3) Snow Storm and Kaeris (although she has been started). The models that are yet unfinished are my silent ones, my decembers acolytes, redoing raspy and touching up my cats and wendigo, will keep it updated as I progress and may even do a bit of a how to for beginners using wash techniques as I didn't know how to do them until starting this crew. *smug*
  2. They look impressive, very simple techniques but as is said less is more.. I am liking the sculpts for these models and am looking at probably getting them because the Misaki sculpt looks awesome!! anyway I also am loving how they look keep it up!
  3. and that was very much how it was all achieved and I thank my wife for her idea and I hope that this helps anyone wanting to make pillars in this fashion *grin* also I have Kaeris now so will be making pillars for her in somefashion within the near future.. Thanks for reading and looking.
  4. And the red one looked like this... but I was'nt entirely happy with it soI looked for a way to replicate flames in some manner without sculpting into it and possibly ruining the pillars effect and I found an older Ghost rider toy that had a flame onthe back wheel to look like the movie effect so I destroyed the toyandtook the fire, I molded it from elasticlay and made a resin mix and mixed in some red yellow and orange paint and ended up with the other 2 photos (My children got a hold of the pillar and Ihave put it somewhere and momentarily lost it so cannot show it with the red LED but also it looks much better with the yellow anyway)
  5. However after showing Pixielante he asked me for a possible flame pillar for Kaeris so I got myself a red and yellow LED stick (however I gave the yellow one to my nephew and have misplaced the other one I got afterwards momentarily) so I cant show an image of the yellow one...
  6. Then once in place I turned it on and the lights off late at night and it turned out like this *evil*
  7. as you can see I slotted it inside the pillar rather well but it did take a while to get them perfect in between work and looking after my children it took roughly 3 days to achieve of course it would be less if I didn't have to do either..
  8. also one problem with epoxy is it makes a mess so you have to be careful while using it, so making it with toddlers running around I needed a flat surface and no real way to point the ends without possibly exposing them to "childrens reach" so came the next part of itI needed to fit them into the pillar so I used my power drill with (luckily) my biggest drill bit that was exactly the same circumference as my LED sticks, and it took a bit of doing first I needed to drill into the pillar for it to be deep enough to sit in, so I started by doing a small hole at the base but sort of grinded it a bit wider so I could actually pullthem out of it without them getting stuck and continued to do so while drilling deeper into the pillar but also being careful not to drill through the top
  9. a tiny mix up here with the pics this is before I placed the pillar onto a resin 50mm base which I molded from elasticlay and filled with resin for ease of access and in these pictures you can see the LED light from the necklaces that I seperated from the fabric necktie and then filed the nobbed end that was attached to flatten it so t would sit inside my pillars
  10. my plan after seeing Lobo's ice pillars gave me the idea to begin with to create my pillars in this fashion so I could place an LED in them to bring out the blue glow... I was all set to make a miniature circuit board andplace within the base of the pillar but after pricing it I was looking at around $10 a pillar (Circuit board, Switch, Solder and LED's) So I was looking for some sort of cheap alternative... andat this time there was a party we were going to and went looking for miniature glowsticks at our local Reject shop.... I discovered these little miniature light necklaces ---------- Post added at 12:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 AM ---------- however pixi as you have seen them first hand (in person) game wise they are Height 5 and breakable so once he is perched there I can target my pillar destroying it which in turn can cause a blast that is Ht 5 and then the fall on top of that not likely you'll try it lol
  11. I sort of did in a previous post but Ican do so again ---------- Post added at 11:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:48 PM ---------- First off I made up my epoxy Resin mixture and mixed the absolute crap outta it so it wouldnt be cloudy lol While trying to figure out how to make a pillar of ice that could replicate the look of an icy column being erected from the earth, My wife suggested something along the lines of a toilet roll.... Me being stubborn and not listening tried many ways to do so (all ending in failure as I pointed out that filling a toilet roll won't work because its liquid) Well because I failed to let my wife (ever) finish what she was saying because im stubborn when I know what I want I never knew she meant to put a sandwich bag inside the toilet roll.... so in the sed I was rummaging through odds and ends looking for anything cylindrical I left my resin mix out, when I got inside she had it poured into a sandwich bag which she threaded into a toilet roll... her idea was taking shape without my approval but it was done so Ijust let it set finally giving in to her idea... a day later and it was ready and once removed was exactly what I wanted (god forbid she was right... so I owe her for that idea) and it started from there..
  12. no but in the manual its under spirits and is the only place magical weapons are listed
  13. Thanks Relatively simple to achieve using Epoxy Resin, I used a toilet rolland placed a sandwich bag into it to hold it until it set... Took a day but end result im happy with *wink*
