  1. Sorry if this is dumb but I saw things that felt like contradictions. The rulebook makes it seem like soul stone damage prevention is still just reduction so an ability that says cannot be reduced would prevent SS use. But, Levy has a trigger on an ability that says "this damage cannot be reduced" that also prevents soul stone use. So this implies to me that SS use is not reduction. Unless the trigger is just meant to prevent SS use for the additional negative to damage flip mod. Thoughts? P.S. LONG LIVE 3rd EDITION!
  2. Man, it's been a while. But, I'm bored at work. Ironsides!! I want to like her but idk man. There's such a feast/famine thing with her. Has anyone had any luck with certain combos? I feel like, she excels against melee masters but if you run into anything else she's gunna have a hard time. Something I wanna try is taking Union Miners and probably Aionus. Drop a bunch of scheme markers and push them into place with Aionus. Then take Willie put up his 0 Aura Set Charges. Have Ironsides lure them into the schemes. Also throw burning bottles at things and give the Gunsmiths positives. THOUGHTS?
  3. Hey everybody, sorry in advanced I don't have the cards in front of me so I can post exact wordings or even the names of the abilities but you all are super smart and will figure it out. As you know, the Hanged have a nasty trick where they halves your wounds and give you a condition that prevents you from healing. Now, shenlong has an ability on his upgrades that heals 2 damage and removes a condition. My questions that follows should be obvious: in what order does this happen? Do I not heal 2, then remove the condition? Do I get to pick the order since its sort of simultaneous, so remove the condition then heal 2? Not really sure here. Its not a comma separated and statement. It is written heal - > remove but its not worded with a then or anything that implies order.
  4. This is why I should have been there. To stop Wilktor. He shouldn't be allowed to win with that piglist. COngrats!
  5. Slinging suds isn't as easy as it appears. Brew and crew have a slew of sweet tools for inebriating our enemies to death but at the same time it seems that while his mechanic is totally radical it doesn't actually deploy very well against ye old tried and true masters one faces most of the time. As a Gremlin leader I think drinking contest is much more viable. There's plenty of activation burners, poisoners, and most importantly Trixiebelle who helps ensure you win those very important initiatives without which you'll just be hoping you get to activate and toss up the aura or spread your poison before your enemies tear you up. But, as a T10 I'm a lot less sure. A few things need to happen to get this drinking shut down going, I reckon. 1) Need to get stuffed into your enemies stuff right away. 2) Jam them with poison 3) Put the aura 4) win the initiative A bit of work! Plus, if you enemy spreads out at all or has any kind of pushes you're not locking them down anymore. Locking down 1 model with Brewmaster does not a game winner make. I can't imagine that it's even a worthy tactic to plan around. Sure, if the stars align and you jump when the jumping is good you might catch an unwary foe with his pants around his ankles and a lamp shade on his head. Much like Misakis shadow bury thing, its not a mechanic you can rely lie. No, I think Brewmasters true T10 power is in his Swill and Obey. But, what do we run with him? If we're not slinging poison than quiet frankly we don't need Moonshinobies or Fingers or even his totem, WHO BY THE WAY I FOUND OUT IS NOT DUEL FACTION! That's a 5 stone totem when you pay the upgrade tax and just for a resummon which only matters if you plan on jamming with Brewhooey. In a Ten list I would drop him. But, our original question remains, how do I Brewmaster then? At this point, we have to find way to maximize his Obey and Swill. What I've been thinking is this: use obey to abuse recall training. We take: Brewmaster (no upgrades - honestly he doesn't need them). 7 Stones cache Two Tengu for schemes Loan Salesman I mean Lone Swordsman with Recall Training Graves with Recall Sammy Rye (Samurai) Izamu with Recall I'm pretty sure about my math but thats around the idea. The battle plan would be to burn recalls and after the models activate you use brewmaster to force them to attack against, to get more work from the upgrade. Because, hey Recall is a super stupid amazing upgrade. Then when they are all gone, you use his Swill to shut down key models and prep them for death. Last you can always obey the sammy rye to shoot his big ole gun a bunch. Any ideas beyond this? Has anyone had any success with Punky Brewster at a 10T?
  6. We have half a card without upgrades and nothing on the other masters and we're already talking about Power Creep?! Aside: (Although I've seen all the new models rules and I can say, yup super power creep. It's going to be a game of who bought the new masters. The game is basically going to dissolve into a badder bad bad version of Warmachine...or I'm lying...who knows anymore) ;D Justin Edit: I have the list of testers, so I know. Also, please don't impersonate playtesters, NDA breaches are serious things which will come with ramifications, I prefer not having to check everyone's name against it. Not sure what you're freaking out about from the original post. Not only is it satire there is nothing legit about it. Further more, impersonation of a playtest is not illegal and if I didn't sign an NDA as I am not a play tester then I would not be subject to any actions of the contract.
  7. I don't feel it's optimistic at all. But, I'll admit I have above average luck with Dreamer summoning. I would go so far as to say I count on it in all my Dreamer games. That being said, Dreamer has access to the most terror bombing abilities of any master. His totems lower WP, weaver widow lowers WP, madness penalty WP cheats, he has 3 models that generate horror duels, one of which that generate a horror pulse, his free henchman generates an extra one, and with changlings you can copy the weaver widow and do it again. Even IF this mechanic cannot be brought to function, I think terror is the true intended mechanic of the Dreamer and its only by the either intentional or accidental over-ease of summoning that changed him. Because, at the end of the day, summoning 3 stitched in turn is probably more powerful than three daydreams and waiting to start the horrorbombin. Also, IDK who this friend of yours is Confysay, but I'm sure he's a total bag of contents that might be rotten!
  8. I'' be there! And I'll be un-retiring Neverborn! The time to practice and get gud for Gencon is now!
  9. I'm sorry if this is a dumb post but I'm totally lost. Where can I go or what can I do to replace model stat cards that I've lost? Please Thank You and Happy New Year!
  10. This! This is why most of my posts seem negative or complaining about balance. It's because I love this game and it is one of the most balanced and well thought out games for competitive play. That's why I get hung up on Levi. Because he is too good.
  11. I'd say losing your master and henchman turn 2 is pretty much a lost game.
  12. It's ONE of many aspects that I think together make Levi too good. In and of itself, it's not over power. Yet when you add in all the hiring potential, and damage output and resilience, then its nutty. I'm not saying is summoning IS overpowered, but it is the most efficient of all the summoners. He creates fully wounded models the same moment he removes one of yours so it's a double whammy to the activation count. True, Dreamer can summon 3 models at once for next to nothing but the models have 1 wound.
  13. If you have anything 8+ you've won. Spend a stone to sac a master? Sure!
  14. Funny story and maybe an interesting conversation piece. Other day me and a buddy were playing a game. He had Ramos. I had Marcus. Turn 1 the fellow moves Ramos up and makes some spiders. I say to myself, hey there's nothing too scary over there yet. I position Marcus to be within 8" of Ramos. Just hoping for the init flip. I get it and I drop a couple 13's and Alpha Ramos. What happened? Well I used Ramos's controlled detonation to blow up Joss, a Swarm, and finally Ramos himself. Anyone else think maybe Alpha shouldn't effect masters?
  15. Again, it cannot happen this edition. Because, a total rebalancing would be needed. True, you could achieve a similar effect by changing the how of current summoners. Yet, I feel in the end models that score for you need to be planned. I think balancing any crew that can rely on late game just tossing out models to score isn't fair. This is game of AP budgeting. How can I get X down with Y number of AP. Summoners have a extreme advantage currently with this. I think a big mistake was the loosing of resources as needed to summon. Ressers who need Corpse and other's who need Scrap have to plan a little bit more than those who don't. I think Wyrd sensed this imbalanced recently because a lot of new ways of generating FREE counter is starting to emerge. The whole, take some number of wounds on this model or that, as a way of mitigating the power of summoners haven't really panned out I think. There's plenty of ways of reducing the costs so that the models you make aren't penalized. You could also maybe fix summoning by saying these models cannot heal. Thus you need a counter or you come in with less wounds. This would also require many models to be rewritten. That's why it's not something worth worrying about till next edition drops in hopefully the next 2 years. Back to Levi. If the waifs costed maybe 2 points each, that might also tip the scales back a bit. Though, in the end, it's not any one thing he does that makes him too much. It's the culmination of everything.
  16. Easy, summoned models should always gain insignificant and peon characteristics. That way, you have to still hire a viable crew. Issues I have with Levi and Dreamer, especially but not excluding the other summoners, is that they get to not only out model you, have more models to score with, they also get to hire more tanks. They both can easily hire 3 10+ stone models then just summon the models that'll score. It's not honestly a fair and balanced mode of play when you're digging into this heavy hitting hard to deal with models AND then they just pop out a Insidious Madness late game without any strategics. It not a game ending issue but I think it would really boost non-summoners who I think are the weakest in most cases this edition.
  17. Do you know how he performed? ----- Also what do you think the issue with summoning as it is now is? Well Levi won Adepticon. Took 2nd at Nova. Don't recall gencon.
  18. Can't find this rule anywhere. What happens if we declare, say a crate, climbable and the base doesn't fit completely on top of it but my opponent decides he wants to leave his model there? Is there any rule that says for a model to be ontop of something its base my complete fit? Or can we just say my model is kind of just there?
