About 3/4 of the way through the book they are dead. By the end they've all come back to life by various means.
I had mixed feelings on this. When Seamus got shot I was in shock. I was actually quite sad, since he is a master that I play, but the scene was well done, and I was frankly impressed with the ballsy move to kill off a master. Sonnia's sacrifice was pretty epic - turns out that in the end she really was one of the good guys.
When they all came back, in one respect I felt relieved, but I felt kind of cheated too. Having got an an emotional response from me (which is kind of the whole point of art, I suppose), it felt like the writer pulled the rug out from under my feet, blew a raspberry, and said "NAH, NOT REALLY!"
The resurrections just seemed to cheapen the (decent) writing that had gone before. Especially pulling the same trick 3 times in a row.
