  1. Wanted to say thanks karn for sending me the documents I found them extremly informative on the crews you covered. I also liked how you kept your overviews on what specifically to take very neutral due to my believe that dreamer/dora can be very effectively run a multitude of ways. Thanks much mate /sound off
  2. My post was getting long so I decided to split up into two posts but perdita and her crew really shine against any neverborne barring lilith if you opponent know's how to use the (2) ap ability that lets young neph's and mature's charge without line of site. And possibly dreamer only because I have yet to get some games against his crew yet so i'm unsure how we matchup (though I have heard sonnia is better against them). I've heard are matchups against a well played leveticus is 50/50 basically coming down to who gets better hands more or less (Though I have yet to play against one of the vets in my group that knows leveticus really well). And Collette I've heard can be a challenge if they get a strategy/schemes that are objective grabbing ones. But other than that against just about any other crew upon looking at crews strength's and weaknesses (I have only maybe played against about 1/4 of the games masters) I believe that perdita generally will have a matchup in her favor minus mismanagement of her and your best guys (imho they would be santiago, nino, executiioner, abuela, and samuel) or a game where the fate cards just poo on your hands you should have a good advantage in your favor do to dmg potential and ability. Also one note I played a 35 ss game today that was against leveticus and I used these models I had really good succsess with them so you might want to try it out after you pick up one more austringer and a goveners proxy totem: Sonnia 4 cache, Samuel -8 Santiago -7 austringerX2 -10 witchling stalkerX2 -8 governor's proxy -2
  3. To reply to you about Perdita, Montejello in my humble opinion if you have 2-3 obey user's in your list the executioner in my experiance outshines fransisco as a melee maniac. And on the point of santiago once you learn how to properly use him he is outfreaking standing. I cannot even begin to go in to detail about him if you know how to use him. With his I'm at half wounds and know I'm ready to kick ass and chew bubble gum and I'm all out of bubble gum rule. And proper utilization of him once he gets to that point he is better than every other guild minion bar nino. And that is only because he doesn't have a 16" range. Paired combat 7ram with a inbuilt + damage flip is godly, if the enemy try's to kill him he has hard to kill so it only drops him to 1 wound and with a 8 ram or higher next turn you can free walk him spend one ap on his heal flip getting him above one wound so hard to kill comes back on (giving you 2-4 wounds depending on flip) then shoot or move again he is just an absolute wrecking ball. Not even forgetting to mention he has a trigger happy combat trigger. On to why I believe perdita is a great starter crew I've only been playing 7 weeks played about 20 or so games and I've won or drawn all games I've played barring one game. My gaming group doesn't have a lilith crew so I haven't played against in my opinion perdita's worst matchup yet. But I get games against leveticus, pandora, vics, rasputina, and seamus. Haven't run up against dreamer yet but I think after 3 games against him I'll have an understanding on how to beat him. I have yet to play hamelin however around my local area he is kinda faux pas around here because he seems to be in need of the new errata to bring him down to just a decent level against other crews but if I were to play him unless it was just a friendly setting I'd bring a hard list that would have 3-4 models that have a additional attack triggers to drop rat catchers quick. I believe perdita is a good starter crew due to having a straight forward style of play (death by 100 shots). And only needing tops maybe two models to bring enough melee cred to a list at 35ss. Also because she specifically is fast it makes her very easy to do interact strategies/schemes with. Also the guild with models that are out currently no matter which master you pick is fairly simple to pick up and we probably have in my opinion the best dmg over all the factions and at worst the second best control card depletion of all the crews.
  4. If I were to due a 30 ss list even thought with the stuff you have easily you could do 35 matches with cridd: cridd 4 cache +3 samuel -8 2 stalkers -8 convict -6 austringer -5 If dita : perdita 2 cache + 3 enslaved totem -2 nino -7 santiago -7 executioner -7 stalker -4
  5. I'm not saying he can't outshoot them on a strictly dmg basis but santiago would both give him about 50/50 matchup would only need one trigger happy trigger. And nino would smoke him due to only getting tops one shot at nino if nino didn't drop him before he even got into range
  6. I would agree with what has been said above in that she is more a combination of lady j and perdita. That being said however I think she (sonnia crew) plays closer to the ortega's. just comparing the box set while you do not have as much range as dita the only models you really want to get close too the enemy are the witchling stalkers. Samuel is good at either but prefers to be at range, sonnia wants to be at range (outside of soulstone useage she plays very similiar to perdita). The executionar while really good at melee without movement spells (obey) might just be a bit too slow to get alot out of him. Low defense and all and slow moving base is why you might not get a lot out of him. Convict gunslingers are good and if you like the model and want to use him sure but I really don't get why guild would use him in that we are easily the best ranged crew in the game and he brings what we already do better than anyone. Also in your post you mentioned taking nino with whatever you take at 30ss and up if you ever play against any gunslinger that alone with good deployment will really limit the effect a gunslinger has on you.
  7. Honestly, in my humble opinion terrain isn't an issue with nino. I'm a former marine corps grunt and I have a really good tactical sense in games I play. On tables I play the game on there is at least 2-3 pieces of terrain in every 12" X 12". Terrain doesn't really factor at all in the games that I have been involved in. Tactics and deployment however do. The thing I have noticed though I apologise if I am speaking too focused and loosing anyone who isn't as well versed with tactics is this : If you look closely and pay attention to the terrain itself. You can see obviously areas that are avenues of approach. After schemes and strategies are placed, announced etc. All you have to do is deploy accordingly and place your crew via crew strength's and weakness accordingly. Yeah the terrain will block LOS in some situations. But if you deploy or move to a natural fire point. You force your opponent to either force a good portion of his/her forces to be out of commision. Moving elsewhere around other avenues taking at least 3-4 turns just jockeying position just to get at you. Now granted, I have only been playing this game 6 weeks or so. I am nowhere as well versed as vets but in games I play against people that have even been playing awhile using top crews its not that hard to use the board to your advantage and know where to set your forces up. Not that I am saying nino is overpowered I just get the feeling due to his 16" range and great abilities. I just find him a little too good for his point cost. If he costed maybe 9/10 points there might be a chance you actually see a guild player not playing the Ortegas but including him, he might not actually get used all the time. Granted I only have the ortegas and sonnia creed crews plus the executioner (he is just too cool both rules and looking wise to not have in my opinion). And I will most likely pick up a lucius box when he comes out and Ryle (hoffman's bro) as well but coming from playing warhammer generally anything that is always taken in maximised numbers there is generally a reason why people do.
  8. Wouldn't Perdita's See the Unseen rule make her able to ignore that rule? Or am I mixed up with it or something?
  9. Yeah with nino i feel almost regretful about using him in some games. 2 players in my group are new to the game as well as me but with them just having starter boxes they are a bit limited in effective models. The main thing with him in my humble opinion is he probably would be better balanced if he cost around 9 or 10 points but even then I don't think that would discourage guild lists from taking him (just about every guild list i've seen takes him even most lists with just him as a sole ortega member in their lists.
  10. Thanks for the reply timelapse and advice as well. So is my understanding why perdita is good pretty accurate in that because of everyone in my crew having shooting and companion and multiple obeys thats why they are so good? I picked them up mainly cause they are kinda 180 degree's different from my 40k army I play ( I run tyranids). In that they are more quality than quantity and currently I'm a little bored with crew's/armies that are just run forward and smash face. Not that melee armies aren't fun its just a playstyle in my opinion that can get a tad bit boring to play often in that there is little to no variation in what you do game to game. One question I had is are they really good because to me outside of the gremlin crew no other armies are really focused to me at least on ranged as a whole?
  11. Thank you nilus for the reply. I was wondering a little bit more about lilith if you don't mind? I would assume that matchup could be most difficult just from reading her teams stats and stuff . Never having played against her yet I would guess that the matchup is somewhere around 35-65 to 40-60 lilith's favour. Yeah I'm not complaining at all about companion but when I played the seamus crew i saw the negatives of companion. The player activated a belle and seamus and they were stranded by themselfs plus they moved away from my executioner to my triangle team of death (santiago, nino and perdita). I for the first time in my first 3 games remembered to use companion (mainly the seamus player was using it alot he had 3 belles sybelle and seamus I had the three mentioned above plus exe and nephilem. And the proc trigger gods served me well with the 7 actions I had 6 shots and one obey. I triggered trigger happy 4 times and didn't even get to get my last activation in but the belle and seamus were wiped off the table. Not that I have alot of experiance but it would seem if the best use of companion is in batches of two or three figures to take down key targets before the opponent can react to who you are focusing down.
  12. Hey all just joined the forum and recently started playing malifaux. I currently own a executioner, the perdita box, 3 stalkers, and samuel, and the perdita totem. I plan on picking up abuela when my game store gets the november shipment. I am mainly interested in finding out what are our more difficult matchups. I have played about 4 games so far a threeway against pandora and laeviticus, a game against seamus, one against the victoria's, and a game against pandora. Since I haven't fought alot of the crew's yet I was just hoping for some pointers and insight from some players with more experiance than I have. And to any who reply i would like to thank you for the time and insight.
  13. Hey dark knight just thought i'd give you some insight I play at pandy on thursday night with 4 other players 3 of us just picked up the game but 2 of our players have multiple crews been playing for awhile. I can do up too 40 point games 2 of the players can only do 25's at the moment and the two vets could do brawls if you wanted. We usually meet up there between 6:30 pm - 7:00pm to play and some of us can stay till they close but a couple have to leave earlier 10:30 pm because of work. If you or anyone you know whats to come up to pandy on thursdays to play you would be more than welcome to stop buy and play/hang out and see if you'd like to join our group.
