  1. argh. It isn't Ruby, but still it is awfully close. I like the art and the model might look great, but the similarity is unfortunate and should have been avoided... http://studiomcvey.highwire.com/product/smm15-ruby
  2. I'm all for not having every model default to a sexy female. I'll agree I like them and the showgirls are what drew me to the game but that shouldn't be used as a crutch either. The main issue I'm having is the trend towards bad/awkward poses. The base and other elements of the Z avatar for instance looks amazing, but the pose on Zoraida herself is hard to describe. Is she pretending to dance with somebody? holding out a beer? I can't see enough of the Perdita model to really make a judgment yet, but I don't think that model looks right either. The female Desperate Merc is another pose. The poses that are using hard to justify props (like Marcus and his stack of phone books) are also bothersome. I'm not complaining about the game at all. Just saying that IMHO I have been feeling for a few months that maybe there are too many pots on the fire and some things are getting through the design process that wouldn't normally have done so.
  3. Funny, my first thought was "roller derby?".
  4. Looks awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing him painted. Feel better.
  5. I guess it would be. Most of my projects at work are initiated by the need to fill an existing role but I've seen others that were generated by something as random as an image of an ad for a brand. We have a report that get's used almost daily now that was on nobody's radar until one of the graphic designers used a generic spreadsheet in the background for a product ad. Apparently that generated a bunch of emails from salesmen saying they needed immediate access to that report and why hadn't they been told about it before... I remember listening to a podcast interview with Gav Thorpe awhile back. It was great to hear him touch on some of the flow of information and requirements back and forth between the rules design crew and the authors/artists. It's a great boxed set. I'll bet the artwork is pretty sweet too. Watching the debate around how the set will work as Ressurectionists has been very entertaining. I'm not getting squat done at work. Thanks,
  6. Thanks, that's good to know. With something like this, what comes first? The art or the rules? I know any number of us would wish we had more of an insider's view on the process. (The whole process from concept to shipping would make a killer episode of How It's Made )
  7. That would work fluff-wise. But the model, at least to me, is holding a revolver. Peacebringers are blockier with that wooden (or metal depending on the paint-job) face plate over the barrel of the gun and no visable cylinders. I'm not complaining. The pistol is actually the most well-made pistol I've seen in the range. I just wonder if that was used by designer's choice or driven by the model's design requirements.
  8. I really like the set overall. And I like the over kill done to Overkill. But I can't see that picture without my eye being drawn to that huge arrow in his arm. It is so out of proportion to the other arrows in his elbow and back leg that it looks more like a ballista shot. Any thoughts on why he is holding a pistol rather than a Peacebringer?
  9. I thought it looked like leather too. But it seemed to be painted the same metalic as the breastplate (at least on my phone screen) so I wasn't sure.
  10. I fall in the other camp in that I don't like the model myself, but otherwise I agree completely. Like the model or not, these are just our opinions. I'm all for the debate about what people like or dislike about elements of the game/hobby. Hopefully the powers to be and designers themselves read these posts and get a feel for the market. As long as it can remain objective and refrain from any accusations, these threads are a good thing imho. And not for nothing; that McVey rider is a sweet model. What is up with the alternate head though? I can't tell if it is armor or a turbon-ish wrap?
  11. Just did a search for "gears" on eBay earlier today. It returned a few lots of various size watch parts for around $12 iirc.
  12. Looks pretty good, I'll give it a go. Thanks for pointing it out.
  13. I often browse and post to the forum while mobile, by simply going to the website. Other than accounting for screen size I've not had any issues. What do you gain from the app? I'm an app junkie and not adverse to hearing about a new one if it is good.
  14. Looks great. I also liked the pastel dust idea. I have a ton of discarded art sets from the kids lying around the house and never thought to do that.
