I think people always considered Marcus crap because of what they wanted him to do, not what he actually can do. He is advertised as the beast master but doesn't do much to beasts besides wp buffs really however it does afford you an excellent range of models, and personally I love the idea of Alpha and people can get hung up on it as it sounds cool but is difficult/impossible to use with any regularity and personally I'm really crap and needed something to blame haha

Marcus can fulfil in turn 2 if the enemy comes to you or you can drag him with something like a snowstorm for a lil extra distance. Using (0) Feral in turn 1 and 2 and then either charge normally or use the wild heart (0) charge.

I like the look of the effigy for helping get to daddy Marcus faster. Also after hew has manifested helps him do another obey thingy which coincidentally is what i like the bear for. I think the combination of that and daddy Marcus making it hit things will hurt alot.

Got my book through from my Gencon order along with daddy marcus and his alt to be honest I am unsure on the avatar. My biggest problem is I dont know why there is the need to discard a card for every attack using Chimeric Assault. The big version is fine with the use of a soulstone and then gives you nice damage but I really dont understand why it isnt discard a card to use the baby version and it lasts for the turn. His obey is very nice as combined with his mark a beast will be at +3cb but they then take a df hit which does turn his beasts into glass hammers, and in a way i think this obey might be aMarcus primary form of attack and not actually put himself in. Also if you go for it, it should be very easy to accomplish at least one of the manifestation requirements on turn 2 so daddy marcus should be easy to pull out on turn 3. Leaving him with his fast movement and 2 (0) actions.

I have used one and a necromancy before which is similar in a way never tried the two as I havent had too much success with them. The extra attacks from the additional heads is awesome but it doesnt take too much to get one down to half wounds and then it becomes terribly average.
