  1. ...hard to follow? crappy? terrible idea? More feedback required lol, if it's a flaming sack of poo don't be afraid to say so. I'm not going to get mad or anything ya know?
  2. So this is it! Full Prologue, other then grammar, and minor tweaks and pokes this is pretty much the finished product of the prologue. Like I said, I'm no Dean Koontz but writing is a passion and write I shall! Critiques, Suggestions, Curses, Death Threats, Slander, and Praise are ALL WELCOME! Cowboy Doll House [[Prologue]] The world appeared in a flash. She saw everything that the world of Malifaux had to offer. It was a blur, a deep hue of blue and smeared across the mental canvas of what can only be described as second sight. This creature had no eyes to see, but she could feel everything, each pebble paved carefully in the cement that she laid upon, her frilled red Victorian dress smeared in dirt and torn, scorched and abandoned. Like a lost doll forgotten by her child play mate. The world began to come into focus as the buildings separated themselves. Parting from the blur of reality forming solid structures of no color but the deep blue she saw everything in. She saw the people walking by and the world became new and estranged to her, everything foreign. She had never had eyes to see such images before; she had never been so far from her master. The very thought crossed her mind and sent thousands of shocks through her plastic figure she immediately shot up from her laid position on the floor and threw her vision looking for her performer; her master. She looked down the narrow way to find she was left alone, in an alley. Abandoned, she felt it! She felt emotion, what empty plastic vassal could do such things, amazed and perplexed her. Nay the very thought of her sentience amazed her, the world was all new and nothing seemed right. She needed answers to her thought, her questions. Questions swarmed her head as she turned to look down the alley that she was abandoned in, the hustle and bustle of the city just beyond the slit of light shining through the narrow corridor enticed her; she must have answers. She looked down to her feet and paused, not sure how she got from laying down to standing up, she looked towards the light and for the first time, with sentience, commenced to will her feet, and she began to achieve her gait. She drew closer and closer to the light as she willed her hand to reach out and softly touch the pavement walls as she strolled, the feeling, the smooth and rough. Everything was new to her, her hands, her vision, her sensations; she could feel everything and her very life seemed to be birthed into existence by chance. She followed her hand to the very edge of the wall curling her plastic mannequin hands around the corner and as her foot encroached upon the light of the street, suddenly; everything went black! She awoke in a damp wet place, restrained to what she believed was a chair. Her sightless vision scanned the room looking for shapes, and images that might give her hints to where she is. She couldn’t tell what anything was; she didn’t know what was happening. Panic began to set in; she could hear the dripping of water from pipes not too far above her. In the distance she could hear Voices talking amongst each other. Referring to “it” and demanding the presence of “her”. She began to shake violently her ability to will her limbs to act seemed to have drifted away and all was subconscious action, thrashing in her chair attempting to escape the binds that held her. What felt like an engine in the center of her chest began to thrash about in her body, fueling her action, and her panic. She continued to thrash about causing her, and her chair to topple over. She paused, feeling the cement floor against her head. She took the moment to relax and try and focus her vision. Her vision began to clear as she saw a large room with a nothing but pipes through the ceiling. From what she saw there was one door and a dim light shone through it where shadows of figures stood just beyond her sight. A figure passed the door and paused before looking in her direction. He shouted for the others, “It’s awake! It’s trying to get away” Not much after that several people darted through the door reaching out for her. Her mind and body acted subconsciously throwing her head back, thrashing about trying to escape. “Somebody Get someone!” the people beckoned toward the door. Soon a Tall Figure stood in the door and all motion seemed to come to a halt. The figures surrounding the Mannequin quickly put the chair upright and assembled themselves in the back of the room silently watching the figure. The Mannequin looked to the tall figure and her vision cleared as he came closer. His face hidden by a mask that covered his nose and eyes, his long coat draped to the floor as his hook like fingers interlaced themselves. He looked towards the group of people behind her and spoke in an almost haunting melody. “What is this? Where’s the Performer? Why did you not take slandered protocol when you found it?” “There was no performer…” a voice from the group spoke out, “it was completely alone when we found it.” “And the idea that it was an ambush or maybe that this Mannequin is bugged or rigged with a bomb never once occurred to you?” A silence hushed over the group as they looked among each other for support in the face of the Guild’s Lawyer. The Lawyers commonly came to represent people who were occupied or too busy to come themselves. Fully versed in the intentions and demands of the guild, facing them verbally was a nightmare, which luckily, only few had to suffer through. The Lawyer continued his argument. “The arcanists are clever; obviously this Mannequin is a bomb, or a spy with some form of listening device on it. Take standard protocol for disposing of wrongly acquired prisoners…” he paused, “…take it out back and shoot it” They nodded and began closing in on the Mannequin before she spoke, “Wait!” Everything paused, the lawyer looked wide eyed at the Mannequin, almost stunned as the Mannequin; who had no lips, or lungs, seemed to had not only learned the human language but somehow had formed human words! The guard behind her immediately looked to the Lawyer for an explanation and support. The lawyer stood his eyes narrowed, his surprise and shock slowly fading to be replaced by the weight of expectations placed by the guard. They were looking to him to know what to do, he acted rashly grabbing the mannequin by the throat and gripping tightly, “What are you!? How do you speak with no tongue!? Who made you this way!? Was it Colette!? Ramos!?” The guard looked in silence. The mannequin spoke, her voice shaking but seemed to be unaffected by the Lawyer’s grip on her throat. “I… I don’t know… I… I don’t remember… ” She paused, “I just woke up like this… I don’t remember anything” “What do you mean you don’t know!? You don’t remember!? What is your name than!? What are you!?” “My… name?” she paused and forced words from her mind as she stammered out a single word. “…Nasha… my name is Nasha” The lawyer released his grip smiling insidiously, knowing that now she was defending herself verbally she was right where he wanted her. He stepped back pacing, that demonic smile smeared across his face. “Well… Nasha, who gave you this name?” he paused briefly to allow her a single thought before pressing the offensive, “your creator? Ramos? Colette? If you were in fact, as you stated created by accident, why do you have a name?” he paused again before throwing himself at the chair she sat, causing a slight startle in the troops behind her, watching the interrogation. The lawyer feeling himself growing to an almost verbal crescendo as he spoke, “Therefore! You have no name! In fact you have a name only because you were created by someone with a name and have been given one by your creator! There’s No other Explanation!” Just as the lawyer, filled with coy self appreciation ended his statement, a man appeared in the door way, looking very exhausted. “Sir! I have a message for you specifically! It’s from Lucius…” the lawyer smiled wide with almost demonic glee as he happily strode to him, “this is it!” he thought to himself, the big promotion he always wanted. He looked at the envelope which bore the irrefutable seal of the Governor’s Secretary. Breaking the seal and opening the letter it read, “This is a direct order from the Governor’s Secretary; Lucius. You are to release the Mannequin held in captivity that goes by the name “Nasha” you are to tend to any wounds caused during the interrogation and send her to my office immediately. I expect her in front of my door within the hour of receiving this message. Sincerely, Lucius” The lawyer’s eyes grew wide as his eyes skimmed the paper; he looked over to the guardsman standing in the doorway with an almost lost desperation in his eyes, though hidden behind his mask his sorrow, loss, and desperation could be seen shinning through. The guardsman behind the Mannequin saw it all, and he felt his grasp on the situation become lost to him. He wasted no time and grabbed the guardsman and threw him against a wall, “Who sent you with this letter!? What do you know about this prisoner?” The Guardsman began to sweat as he shook his head violently, “I have no idea sir! I was sent here by the Governor’s Secretary! I don’t know anything about anyone!” The lawyer released him, pushing him through the door way. He looked to the guardsman standing behind the Mannequin. “Release her! Send her to Lucius!” he tried his best to put a façade of empowerment. He looked over to the Mannequin, “the governor’s secretary wants to see you, Nasha” the way he said her name send worry through her heart. He smiled trying to enforce the façade, “You know… I hear that no one has ever actually seen the Secretary face to face…. And those that do, well… we don’t know where they are anymore” he snapped up to give the order, “Take her away!” TO BE CONTINUED... also for making it to the end you get a Santa Sized Bag of Cool Points! Also get a cookie because you earned it!
  3. We have has about an average of 8 players a week, 11 players in total. Thursday being Malifaux night at the Game Matrix in Tacoma. So I want to know how big your Malifaux Group is? I've only been to one other gaming store outside of Washington so I don't have a frame of reference. I would like to believe that 8 on average is good. you can vote for the number you have in total or the average number of people who show up, whichever you feel best describes your group.
  4. Is it just me or are the Outcasts the ONLY masters who can die, and come back at a later date. So far the only masters who I've seen who have any ability close to this are... Viktoria Sisters: Another one? Leveticus: Eternally Shackled Hamelin: Indiscriminate Void now I know the Viktoria sisters aren't "Technically" able to die and come back as often as Levi and Hamelin, unless that's your strategy which personally sounds like a Bad Ass strategy! [[make note for that later]] but out of curiosity is it possible for later masters in the game who belong to the Arcanists, or Guild, or Neverborn or something like that to come back after death? I know Karia can do that but she can only do it once so I don't really count that since Ham, Vik, and Levi can do it at will, and with Levi you kind of want to die lol
  5. Guild! Definitely Guild! I can't wait until November! I want to see the Hoffman box on that release list so badly!!
  6. Lucius and Lawyers are super cheap. It's one package I buy twice, I use the briefcase dude twice as a Lawyer and the guy in the Coat as Lucius. Drill Sergeant can be any of these I might get These for Watchers. But I would need some form of wings or something...
  7. I heard he was Eight Feet Tall and ate live orphans! But then again I got this answer from that really old hobo down th road and he also told me that if you eat too many tomatoes you'll turn cannibalistic... CAKE!? I'm In!
  8. Target his Five Willpower with Rigor Mortis. Or when he charges just use Cross Examination and give him the ol' Lawyer Lockdown.
  9. no update, just posing a question... what is your opinion on the Tatica? what can I change? what should I change? what should I add? take away? Any sections you want to see? General Tatics will be filled in come next week guarenteed. It'll be filled with neat tricks and kick ass meanuevers. Anything I learned through my Learning Experiances. Also! I see other Tatica's have this, so do think I should add something about how Lucius works againsts other factions and masters? Also the part about Lucius as a Henchman should I take that out?
  10. UPDATE! I have posted the Tatica for using Lucius as a Henchman! I also have made bold all titles and the like hopefully this makes the Tatica easier to read and allows for more readers and more help. I have also updated the Weakness section for the "As a Master" section.
  11. I use it as a deterrence for soulstones. Levi does not need soulstones as much as Sonnia Criid or others, so if you annouce that it'll make the opponent hesitate using soul stones. Also if your opponent does use soulstones you can then use soulstones as long as afterwards you have atleast one more then he does.
  12. well the board is only 36"x36" and the ability to travel 60" is ridiculous, with destroy the evidence you'd be able to destroy ALL THREE in one turn. The dolls are not insignificant when around Collodi so they'll be able to do it. Line in the Sand is even worse though...
  13. So he's talking about the three hit combo with Collodi, :\ what you do is you surround him with Marionettes. Activate Collodi (2) puppet show: puppets receive fast now activate ALL of your Marionettes. 1st Marionette: (1) Pull strings, walk 5 inches and then push Collodi into base to base contact with yourself. (1) pull strings, second verse same as the first. (1) pull strings, since all dolls are now fast, push collodi with you. 15" of movement so far... 2nd Marionette, out of 4 (0) action retract: push this model into base to base contact with Collodi (1) I'll give you one guess what we're doing from here... (1) yup, you guessed it... (1) PULL STRINGS 30" of movement so far 3rd Marionette, out of 4 (0) action push into base contact with Collodi (1) second verse (1) same as the first (1) pull strings 45" of movement I don't think I have to keep this up, I tried refuting this combo myself with the book but after you do Puppet Show your activation ends and ALL Marionettes now gain Simultaneous Activation because they're all within 6" of you. Also for even more fun, if you do this the first turn than Collodi's Dolls will activate every time you activate your Marionette causing them to be pushed to a minimum of 8" away from Collodi making the pull strings even better for mobility. Honestly, I don't know how to counter this. :\ except maybe when he comes to destroy your evidence dog pile on him and break his face with the biggest scariest heaviest hitters you can bring... I'm beginning to think book two was pushed out the gates a little bit too soon. not to piss off the play testers I know you guys worked your asses off and I appreciate it but this isn't the first terrible combo we've seen/
  14. UPDATE: Lawyers, Austringers, and Guild Guard Captain. Also added a Beginner 25 Soulstone List that people might want to give a try should they feel savy and want to proxy the good man himself.
  15. since it's the cool new thing to abuse the Companion Rule lol :] I'll give it a shot. Mortimer, zero action Companion Punk Zombies, and then, Pile them on. What was that Sandwich? Punk Zombies not cool enough? 3 simultaneous Charges with Paired Katana's at Combat 7? Yes Please!
  16. why no hanged? I was actually planning on getting Jack Daw and a few hanged for the Levi Army
  17. I feel like this forum is the unofficial Tactica: Leveticus lol, but I have a question for all the Levi Veterans. We have a Vast Number of Models we can take, but in your guys opinions, which are worth the stones and which models do you think you'll just never take? I know things like, Crooked Men. I know I can sleep easy knowing I don't have one, or two of them in my box for the, If-I-so-happened-to-need-them situation. but what about the Riders? We can take all three which... actually upon reflection started to sound like a bad idea but Levi is a One Man Apocalypse, as a wise man one stated so having him and 3 Riders just sounds appropriate now lol [[.also! totally irrelevant side note! The Tyrant Rider. He'll be the guild construct rider, and his power thing will be based on how many Troops you have on the field lol, then you can take the Four Horseman of the Leveticus Apocalypse! Let's see Hamelin Top That! ^.^]]
  18. that also brings up the good point that you'll be fighting over High Crows for Molly, and High Tomes for Levi :\ that might be a strain seeing as you Don't draw cards unless you stand next to Alyce... or die, but that does seem a bit easier lol
  19. in refrence to suit requirements: so she will never use Entropic Transformation, that's fine, and everything requires a tome to cast from that point on so the whole stealing spells is fine if you have High Tomes, but then you have the Criid Syndrome and that's never any fun.
  20. Viable? Fun? Terrible Idea? Brilliant Idea? I finally swallowed my pride and have begun to branch out to factions other then the guild, and in this case, The Outcasts. My next purchases will be the Levi Box Set, and the Viktoria's Box Set. I researched all the latest rulings over Levi, he can't kill himself with spells so just have Alyce or someone kill him at the end of the turn. So now I ask, Molly, is she viable? She's SF, which give you access to bigger and better undead baddies. Not to mention with her Necrotic Machine all the fun you can have with that :] I think it'll open alot of doors for Levi.
  21. Looking over the forum here I've noticed that it's become a breeding ground for QQ [[.quit complaining.]] and that's all fine and well. It's always nice to complain. What I'm noticing is that the Creators are changing the rules on us. That's not bad either, some rules need a little clarification sometimes, it's not to upset the balance of the game but to shine a little more light on the true intention of what the creator wanted from the game. the Problem, is that having a balanced game is really hard. True this is suppose to be a competitive "fun" game, and True Balance will never honestly be found in a competitive game, it's just too hard. But with all the "Rules Lawyers" and "Power Gamers" who try and squeeze out every last bit of power they can from even the most squared away and polished rules. I believe that the codex creep is caused by them. So the creators have to reword rules, rebalanced mechanics, and try and restore the natural balance of things. And what do those same Lawyers do? The Exact Same Thing Again! maybe with a different model, maybe with a different faction. It's fine that balance will always be a little flimsy. That's not my argument, it's the Lawyers and the Power Gamers that force the creators the alter and re-balance their game. When you look at a rule and you say to yourself, "It doesn't say I CAN'T do that with this ability so I can." when you try and pull crap that you KNOW the creators of the game did not intend to be able to pull off simply because you can. Because you exploit a flaw in the game, therefor causing the codex creep. Human Greed is only so powerful, I believe you to be the reason Games Workshop is the soulless power hungry machine it is today! Because they're fed up with the wining and they decided to use their immense fan base to just ignore your QQ's and make as much money as they can. You can take this as the Hysterical Ravings of a very disgruntled but very loyal player or you can slap your friend in the face every time he tries to exploit a stupid rule, or vague sentence. [[.End Idealistic Hysterical Raving.]]
  22. good news on the second rule in question "at no additional cost" overrides all other rules it's in both Zorida's and Marcus' rules. but the thing is, people like C. Hoffman, say they can just hire them, meaning they'll still have to pay the +1SS but the gremlins have a special rule against that Zorida and the gremlin thing, i'm not sure though.
  23. YES! I'd be so appreciative! also! >.> i didn't spend too much time on the Mannequin background, but honestly do you think the concept of a sentient mannequin is cool? I thought they were sort of mindless and drone and with slow they'd be even more useless without a showgirl so I figured this would be a really cool turn of events.
  24. [[.working title.]] anyway! I've been an nuisance on this forum for quiet some time now so I figure I might as well give something. I may not be Dean Koontz but I believe that what I have here is the beginning of something, well... at least quasi-interesting at the least. So here it is... Feed back of All Kind is highly encouraged and loved by all <3 Cowboy Doll House The world appeared, in a flash. She saw everything that the world of Malifaux had to offer. 25. this is a repeat thread but the over all theme is... Stalkers: offense - combat 6, critical strike Marshals: defense - hard to wound 1
