  1. My personal philosophy is never, ever, ever sell. Pack it away. I am amazed by the number of times I've seen people in my local scene sell stuff at a fraction of retail and then turn right around and buy it again months later. And even sometimes they do this multiple times, with the same models! I decided I am never going to sell my Malifaux stuff. My great grandkids can show my stuff off on Antiques Roadshow! "Believe it or not, before there was full virtual reality, people would gather together in person and play games, using these hand crafted metal 'miniatures' as game pieces. They would meticulously assemble and paint each and every one of these by hand, without the aid of 3D printers or robot assistants of any kind. They would spend hours doing this. It was quite amazing. *wow* This particular set you have was created by a very successful company in the early 2000's called Wyrd Games, and these were for a game called Malifaux. Yes, the progenitor of what we all play today virtually. This was THE original. You can see a great deal of care was put into the assembly, painting, and basing of these particular miniatures. Its not the best representation of the art of the time, but it is very passable. I would say based upon the condition of these pieces and the popularity among collector's for everything from the early days of Malifaux, these pieces would go in today's dollars anywhere from $50,000-$100,000 a piece. They won't make you rich, but you might get a nice weekend holiday if you were to sell them. Thanks for bringing them in. They really are nice!"
  2. I would LOVE one of these! Nix had one at Gencon. Anyone know of any online guides showing how to build these? I know there is a nice one at Maelstrom by Laser Fuchs. But it'd be nice to get them cheaper for the group.
  3. Yep, we'll post it when we have it planned. Look for something in October.
  4. We meet at two locations in Fort Wayne weekly: Tuesdays at Book Comics and Things and Fridays at The Keep. We have a great group and we welcome players of all levels. Let me know if you'd like to meet on one of those nights and I'd be happy to introduce you. As to the tourney, we try to have one event a month. Just keep checking the forum or better yet, search Facebook for Fort Wayne Area Malifaux. We've been doing 35ss fixed faction, which seems to be the sweet spot in tourneys. I'd be happy to answer any questions.
  5. I am not going to get into specific model costs or weighing the benefits of any one model. I do think there are models that make you just kinda scratch your head when you look at them. But on the other hand, isn't it somewhat nice to have a group of 'underdog' models in the game that provide some fodder for experimentation and as an interesting handicap for better players? Perhaps these models ultimately have little value, but I can see some players getting great enjoyment out of trying to solve their puzzle and getting them to work far better than anyone guessed they could have.

  11. I've thought about this quite a bit and think it would be worth a try. The only problem I see is that 'control' of the game goes back and forth so much it would become tiresome. How many times has the game technically been on your turn but you're waiting on your opponent to make a decision on cheating or using a trigger? Would you have to hit your clock every time you are done with a flip? It would become rather onerous, but like I said, I am willing to give it a try I think.
  12. I can report that I was one such spectator. I think I enjoyed the conversation and laughter more than the game itself. Both of the guys are really interesting and fun to talk to. I think I recall something about the British being prone to flipping over tables? *grin* Unfortunately, I had to head to bed before the finish, as I could barely keep my eyes open.
  13. I think the big positives to take out of Gencon are the SoS models. From what I've seen so far, we're going to see a master that is in league with the other SoS masters and the minions will equally keep pace. The downside may be the release dates. We'll just have to wait and hope our turn comes up relatively soon.
  14. Enter the world of Malifaux and discover the secrets behind a horrible murder. Participants earn clues to a gruesome murder by successfully completing 3 Malifaux League seasons. A clue will be given after each league season. At the end of the 3 league seasons, a participant who deciphers the three clues and correctly identifies the killer becomes the Master of Murder! Click for Flyer Leagues Rules This is a 3 season league. Each league season will be approximately 8 weeks long. Each league season will have its own winner and prizes. To successfully complete a season of league play and earn a clue toward Master of Murder, a participant must play at least 6 games and participate in one Fort Wayne Area Malifaux sponsored or approved Event. Participants may play as many games as they like, but only the 6 games of their choice will be counted toward league play. Of these 6 games, no more than 2 may be against the same opponent. The winners of each league season will be determined by a modified Gaining Ground Domination Format of Total Points/Number of Opponents Played/Differential/Victory Points. Each game must be at least 20ss in size. There is no faction, strategy, scheme, or painting requirement. 16. I judged one event and played in four and had a great time! I think you did a great job organizing. Everything really seemed to go off without a hitch.
  17. I was able to pin mine through the paw. Wasn't easy, but it is possible.
  18. Add in the Drill Sergeant's to each range strike and things REALLY get scary! Oh! And don't forget Lucius's +2 to Cb.
  19. That is indeed the way it happened last year. My sense is that is the way it will be this year, but there has been no announcement yet. Last year when they announced the full list of releases they also released when they would be available later in the year. They won't be shipped at the same time, most likely. Wyrd is a small shop and a good portion of the employees will be at Gencon and hence can't ship things out until they get back. Last year I believe they worked really hard and got all Gencon shipments out in weeks. I don't recall how long it took, exactly, but it was weeks before the last order was shipped.
  20. Still no hints out there regarding what the translucent bases are.
