  1. D'oh! CHEATED. Cheated ... Fates Radio. Ahem. So I can't rightfully blame Rancor for calling me "Hatchethand". Hey, saying "Good work!" is the easy part. Thank YOU for the time, effort and talent, and for promoting my favorite game.
  2. Hmm. Good question. I suppose maybe, though if I intended anything by the term is was entirely subconscious. Just another synonym amongst synonyms.
  3. Between the Aethervox, Gamer's Lounge and now Twisted Fates Radio, the Malifaux podcast scene is really top shelf. Congrats on an excellent episode, gents.
  4. Could be. In almost every game system I find myself involved in, I gravitate toward the undead. I've played more zombie-centric armies than I can remember. Almost without fail, game developers tend to put too large an onus on the ability to create and/or recycle troops. They balance against it, often in a heavy-handed fashion that ultimately undermines competitiveness. I can't say I blame them. On paper, the thought of Player A pooping out new units while Player B struggles with thinning numbers is a dire consideration ... but it rarely plays out that way. With so many variables to consider, I don't envy them the task, striking the right balance between thematic undead-ish-ness and the basic, fundamental utility that wins games.
  5. I ordered on Sunday, received a Paypal confirmation but nothing directly from the manufacturer. They're a pretty small operation, so I'm not surprised. I'll update the thread when I receive my counters.
  6. *the cellar door swings open* Hey guys, just so y'know, I invited some friends over to play poker and - *surveys the carnage* THIS IS WHY I CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS! *disappears into the darkness*
  7. I admit, the statement was made in a vacuum. It rings like a RAW versus RAI debate just waiting to happen. That said, Rafkin definitely helps with Nico's standing in the dread tier system. I'm not a fan of HAVING to include models in order to fix a perceived imbalance (see: Snowstorm), but I takes what I can gets. So many shenanigans and aNico dropping in April. Good times, good times. All we need now is more dog and zombie sculpts.
  8. This is the only part of the plan that stinks of cheese, to me. It's absolutely legal, but I wouldn't be surprised to see errata indicating that a corpse counter needs to be "removed from the game" or something similar in order to trigger Preserve Bodies. But until then ...
  9. Total agreement with Q. I assume Preserve Bodies kicks in when Nico summons, for instance. If it doesn't ... well ... I pretty much give up, to be honest.
  10. Hard to argue, but I also really like Night Terrors. I don't like the sculpts so much though I dig the artwork in Rising Powers. Super fast, easy to hide, hard to kill, great in pairs with (0) movement shenanigans, give me a mask an I hobble you. THREE STONES. My only beef: the Dreamer has access to them.
  11. I wish I could disagree about Hanged. I really WANT to like them. Despite many attempts, I've yet to realize their potential and 8ss is a large, jagged, bitter pill to swallow. I've enjoyed mixed results with Crooked Men. I like to think there's something there I haven't fully realized.
  12. I would put the onus less on "Dreamer Grief" and more on "Book 2 Grief". Kirai, Hamelin, Dreamer, Collette, they all have the reputation of being more than a little bent. The only faction that didn't benefit from the Book 2 power shift is Guild (though Hoffman is fun and cool, he doesn't rank). The majority of Book 2 masters overshadow most of their Book 1 counterparts in terms of overall utility, speed, lethality and value per soulstone (minion-wise). Disclaimer: This is my opinion and only my opinion. But meh. I don't want to turn this into "Another One of Those Threads". You either decide to play Chompy in all his glory or you don't. Some opponents will give you grief, some will enjoy the challenge.
  13. Meh. Money is overrated. Welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
  14. Point taken! I always struggle to qualify the oddness of the Arcanist faction. As a Henchman, I'm often asked to explain the factions; how they play, their theme, etc. I tend to waffle when it comes to the Arcanists. Speaking purely from a meta game perspective (as opposed to fluff), they don't have a shtick, a cohesive theme that ties the crews together or informs how they are meant to play - nothing that's immediately obvious, at least. That alone can make them a bit daunting, I suppose. Even the Outcasts have "versatility" as a lynchpin, which is the only logical way to explain their nonsense. *smug*
  15. Ooooh. New Malicast! I love it. Always happy to see the community growing.
  16. With the obvious exception of Kirai players, most Rezzer and Guild players would tend to disagree with that statement.
  17. Thanks ... I do fancy the brown ... Battlefoam does custom stuff, yeah? I wonder if they'd embroider a Resurrectionist logo on there?
  18. So the old geezer didn't do too badly for you. I assume the "low filth" environment helped matters, somewhat?
  19. Great review. I've been considering this bag forever, but I've yet to pull the trigger. Question: Is there a pocket or pouch large enough to store laminated stat cards?
  20. Yeah. A buddy of mine has a set of Terraclips streets. The counters/tokens/markers are quite nice. I just placed an Advanced Deployment order for a the Victorian set, 10 body part counters and three blast markers. After sleeping on it, I opted for the wood. It suits Malifaux, looks stylish and ultimately has better contrast than the acrylic stuff. Easier to read and identify.
  21. That's what I'm currently using, taped to 30mm bases. Ratty counters are boss, but I'm hoping for something a little more swish for use while demoing. ... I find it strange that Advanced Deployment has a Paralyzed marker, but nothing for Slow ...
