  1. Hi guys,I've finally got around to painting my Malifaux minis despite playing for about 3 years (painting a 3000+ pt Tyranid army slows things down somewhat) Well, I've kicked it off with the Peacekeeper which was one of the firat minis I picked up. This was also a bit of an experiment into doing tarnished brass. I have noticed in these pictures that some of the varnish hasn't finished curing in the recesses so, please forgive that. Anyway, here you go:-
  2. Seconded, I always use firestorm for my malifaux orders (and everything else for that matter)
  3. I always use http://www.firestormgames.co.uk/ for any Malifaux stuff I get. I've used them a bunch of times and they're always good at communicating with you if somethings isn't coming straight out.
  4. LOL Okay, here are the dimensions for the first building I did, as all the others are minor modifications. I used 5mm foamcore for all the buildings. All dimensions are Width x Height The base for the building is 130mm x 190mm (this gives you the floorplan of the building + a 40mm sidewalk bit for the front) The front is 130mm x 110mm The side walls are 140mm x 60mm The back all is 130mm x 60mm The canopy is 130mm x 40mm and should sit 55mm above the sidewalk. The roof is 130mm x 150mm. (I reccommend attaching a second piece of foamcore measuring 120mm x 145mm underneath to add strength and unsure that the roof stays in place if you leave it to be removable.) The walls which run around the outside of the roof are 20mm high. As a general rule I've left a gap of 20mm between any doors, windows or building edges, this is for gaming reasons mainly as it provides models with a decent amount of cover, aestheically it also prevents buildings looking too cluttered.
  5. Here's the latest update I've still got all the measurements for things, though each building is different. The doors are 45mm tall, 30mm wide (this looks about right for Malifaux scale. The windows are 30mm tall, the top of the window is 45mm high, the bottom 15mm, the width varies between 30mm and 50mm. Each storey is 60mm high, Hope this helps, give me a shout if you want any other measurements.
  6. Here's a WIP pic of one side of the street And a couple of detail shots of the first building
  7. One of the best (and easiest) ways of doing stained glass is to print a design on to acetate, cut it out and stick it in.
  8. Foamcore is light and easy to cut precisely, like the first building the sidewalk bit outside will get a covering of basswood for texture. For larger models I would normally use an MDF base but with these being relatively small I wanted to keep them light and easy to store.
  9. I've actually decided against interior detail. I've found with experience that for the time it's on show and it's lack of effect on the game that it's not worth doing. Don't get me wrong, it looks great but, does tend to get overlooked when the buildings are in use.
  10. The classic high noon gunfight scenario was one of my inspirations, (I'm a sucker for a western). @joelmmorgan, Other things to theme a board would be a cemetary (preferably on a hill, that way you can model some open graves ). Possibly a mine entrance. Here's the latest, not much progress but then I've not got a lot of time. I've also made all the buildings with removable roofs for gaming.
  11. Thank you for the kind words guys Mini update: All the foamcore work is finished now, and I've started the loooong process of adding the basswood panels. As you can see I've decided to improve on the first building by making a slightly more intricate design. I'm trying to simulate support posts and proper joins.
  12. Mini-update: I've not started painting the general store. But I have made and assembled the foamcore part of the next terrain piece (a row of buildings). Sadly no photos of that yet as I'm stranded at my in-laws due to the weather. I'll try and get some pictures up at the weekend. Edit: I'm home so here's a photo
  13. Thanks for the info on the blacksmiths. General store it is.
  14. Thanks. It's foamcore with basswood panels glued on to provide the texture. I prefer basswood to balsa wood, it's not quite as soft makng it much easier to do precise work with.
  15. I've gotten started on some Malifaux-specific terrain. I love the wild west era so it was a no-brainer that I'd be doing a mining town theme. Here's the current progress of the test building (probably end up a blacksmiths. I'm currently drawing up plans for a saloon, a livery stable and a row of shops.
  16. Are these guys okay with people turning up and doing their own thing then? E.g. Malifaux
  17. There's a few of us in the Durham/ Sunderland area just started started playing Malifaux. We typically play at the University of Sunderland Games club as alumni
  18. I've got myself an iphone. It's got quite a few apps which I find useful, and it's nice and easy to use. Before the iphone I had a string of Nokias which I chose for the same reason (ease of use)
  19. If the model looks like the concept art, I'll definately be picking it up.
  20. Well after becoming a little tired of the unbalanced army books in WHFB and having lost interest in 40k through 4th-5th edition, I was looking for a new game to play. I've ordered the Malifaux rulebook in the hope that it 'ticks all the boxes'. The models, army size and background already appeal to me a lot, just waiting to have a crack at the rules with a mate who feels the same way.
