  1. those two descriptions should probably be switched, if only for your word choice :combatpuppet
  2. yeah i cheated someone by doing that the other day :sadpuppet2 (new puppet smileys?! sweet) the crew builder is not the rules but i'm sure ratty is glad someone pointed it out so it can be updated. you are correct she cannot hire pigs, but you can hire gremlins and kill them and turn them into pigs. not too bad of a trade actually.
  3. also its in the ressurectionists section. you've been warned :aseamus
  4. that ruling is consistent with other similar rulings. the rules in malifaux generally only look to immediate causes rather than proximate causes. that is to say only the most recent cause of an effect is the actual cause of the effect for game purposes. it is a similar situation to the fact that Stitched Together can never actually be killed, because the effect on his card says he is sacrificed. So you can never get credit for him because he sacrifices himself, even though one your models caused him to sacrifice himself. it might be silly to be unwilling to go a single step back to determine an additional cause but that is how its been ruled in the past, and similar situations to this one work the same way. Actually, looking at it closer, it seems they might want to rethink their rulings on this and similar issues. This ruling means that killing something with poison never grants you credit for the kill. Proximate cause is usually a question for the jury, unfortunately the jury in Malifaux has been tampered with. I blame the Judge. Maybe the Governor's Proxy... but certainly not the Lawyer
  5. that is really the rub. the time in the document is plenty for two experienced players in a tournament setting. people just are not used to having to play fast, or there are newer players in tournaments that are not experienced enough with their own models to play at that tempo Sozoa when did you become killjoy? that's like the least puppet puppet ever.
  6. i love it when my favorite show kills off the main characters
  7. Lady Justice has a two inch melee range so your only real concern is Face of Death. If he pops up that bubble, just kill everything else and wait until you win initiative. Also you are a master, cheat and use stones the highest test is Wp -> 14. Just stay away from jack daw, he moves 10 inches a turn and doesn't have any movement tricks so you should be able to predict where he can go and avoid it. Unfortunately, I think Hoffman is now way better at dealing with undead than Lady J, so I'm not quite sure what she excels at anymore, but she is still a solid overall master that can slice the crap out of pretty much anything. When you get her Cb up to 13 see how you feel about her. Perdita might seem OP because she is easy to play right out of the box. She just shoots stuff, and can't be shot at back. Any time you are going against a target number (Wp -> 13 for example) immune to influence does not come in to play, so terrifying, a lot of the tests the hanged make you do, sybelle's rough trade trigger etc. So you can get to her Wp but like you said it's really high anyways. She is susceptible to pulse damage. Df 8 is high, but not unbeatable. They have to flip bad cards eventually. Attack her at the end of a turn, perhaps after you've seen the player use a couple of obeys and know that he doesn't have any masks left. Perdita's crew is kind of slow and lacking in AP, apart from obey, so they don't really complete objectives very well.
  8. I would say it can you are correct, they are essentially the same thing. I don't see how that is clear that no one would argue that. I in fact would argue that it could remove falling back status after having lost a morale duel due to a terrifying effect. Like Q said, it's a bit of a grey area. However, if it is not an effect, then what is it? His interpretation makes perfect sense and is what I'm going with until someone proves otherwise.
  9. wikiwik wikiwikiwild bad ass cowboy from the west si-ide
  10. that is my understanding, and how everyone else who responded to the thread described it. if it's incorrect a marshal will come let us know.
  11. jack daw is amazing. most crews have a lot of trouble dealing with him, and he is snowball-y in nature. as in if you start to get ahead in model count he gets stronger because you still draw 7 cards and they have less ways of attacking him to make you discard as they lose models. kirai and collette are particularly screwed by him. hoffman could care less though and jd turns into an expensive paper weight against his all immune to influence crew.
  12. Teddy would also be a cool master but I don't think C-Bass/Zee have what it takes to lead a crew.... no offense
  13. Jack Daw master is the next Hamelin? I'll just say it now... OP :aetsch:
  14. it is more than forced movement, you have a to all flips and can't move for a turn. obviously after you are forced to move you can't "unmove," the rest though would be fair game. if kirai says you have take to flips involving spirits you would most definitely be able to take that effect off. Q's answer is pretty solid and I'd be surprised if a marshal said anything to the contrary.
  15. i don't really see what it could be other than an effect, so i don't see why you wouldn't be able to shrug it off or dispel magic that being said i don't know the real answer, so i'm as curious to see what they say as you are.
  16. what does the rat bring to the table? edit: oh nevermind, heal all vermin 2 wd. meh, not bad i guess.
  17. well why didn't you just play like a 20 pt game instead? i don't even see how your opponent would enjoy playing with twice as many points as you...
  18. yeah whisper from beyond is invaluable against so many crews that i would definitely include a hanged if i had to play the same list all day (BORING )
  19. mcmourning is kind of a one man army. i wouldn't say any model is 100% necessary with him. take whatever models are good for the strategy. its not always good to have many weak insignificant models sometimes. dogs don't really like black blood, pulse damage, most guild with weak damage 3, etc. sure they are cheap body parts, but mcmourning always has more bodyparts than he can use by turn 3 or 4 anyways
  20. but slop haulers definitely have some synergy with pigs as well. more sooeys, healing flips, and that sweet sweet reactivate. and pigs need to be swinging against df 4 almost more than gremlins do.
  21. "I've seen games where Gremlins almost beat hamelin..." almost.... sigh.... almost :wallbash: "and one game on saturday I had one austringer kill 5 gremlins" AAAAHHHH HAWKS!!!! CAWCAWCAW :flaminghe 5 might be a conservative count
  22. if you are playing som'er you are most likely doing so for pigs. the two i mentioned earlier i enjoy a lot, and when the pigapult comes out you can take the stuffed pig assembly line list and just shoot them through the air
  23. seriously, throw Marcus in your next game of rock, paper, scissors and you win. hands down. game over man.
