  1. How about Ortega's box and Rasputina's box? Both seem usable with no additional models needed for a 25SS scrap. Rasputina's SS cache would be a bit high, but I'd think she would want a lot what with all the casting she'd be doing. Plus it's different factions, and both boxes seem to highlight different areas of the game.
  2. I realize that this is a bit of thread necromancy, and I certainly do apologize for that. However my question is almost exactly the same as the original poster, and thought I'd just add it to the discussion. I'm also looking to start hosting demo's for my local group, and was looking for suggestions on game size and what would be some good starter boxes to demo. I'd like to utilize two starter boxes that play somewhat differently, so that players could experience multiple aspects and how different masters and play styles work. Are there two starter boxes that would work for this? Ones that require no additional purchases other than rules and cards? I don't mind getting a few extra models, but being able to sell people on the 'buy one box of models and you can start' is a big plus in my mind. Looking forward to any additional advice you all have!
  3. I'm willing to step up and take the bullet for you on that one I've been helping run the Gladiator in previous years on Friday, but I'm looking to do something new next year. I can easily see myself being persuaded to help out with some sort of Malifaux event on Friday.
  4. Reading through a thread on Malifaux tournaments located here: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10372 It made me realize that there could be a demand for some type of Malifaux event at Adepticon next year. Might this truly be the case? I've only recently gotten into the game, but I'm completely hooked so far. I'm already planning on building game boards for both Malifaux and Privateer Press games. Not only that, but I've had the bug to run an event at Adepticon the past two years, and I'm thinking this might be the time. I guess my question is, would there be enough interest to fill such an event? Possibly some style of tournament, or a linked scenario style event with an over laying storyline for the whole event. I believe I read in another thread that there is a decent sized Chicago-area Malifaux presence. Might this group make the trip for such an event? I've been a volunteer at Adepticon for the past 4 years, and understand whats involved with an event, and who to talk to about getting one set up. Obviously, I would be more than happy to take any advice/help offered by other members of the community, but also understand that the vast majority of the work would rest on my shoulders. Right now, this is more putting out feelers to the community and seeing if there is enough interest to do a 15-20 person event of some type. Feel free to throw out any thoughts and suggestions. Or just toss a few dead hookers my way, as we all know that's the solution to any problem.
  5. I'll add my vote for lamination. I took my cards from my Lilith starter set, and had them laminated at Office Max for less than $3. For all future purchases, this will certainly be the course I follow. They came out perfectly and I can cross off wounds and such with a nice dry-erase marker.
  6. We're just starting to get into this game out in Grand Rapids. Right now myself and one other are picking it up, with the possibility of a few more over the next few months. Once we have stuff painted and understand the rules better, it's possible that a weekend road trip could be planned to head out to Pandy for a Malifaux tournament. I've been out there a few times over the years for various 40k events and really like the store.
