  1. That would be great. I can't hazard a guess on attendees, but if everyone who has talked about coming makes it, it could be over 20. We'll see what happens on Sat. I will talk to Castle about their page tomorrow, but they're notorious for not keeping up to date. ---------- Post added at 09:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 AM ---------- Just as an update, I am officially changing the name of this event to New England Soul Harvest, since the RPG is Through the Breach. I hope to make it an annual event.
  2. I consider that debatable with the errata (summoned Shikome do not get Prey), but I think I'm in the minority.
  3. Actually, there appear to be fewer details on your website right now. I'd be interested in more info on those folding boards, and some smallish terrain bits, like the still. EDIT: Okay, now there's info. Time to start saving up for a 4x3 standard board.
  4. Yep, this is still all set. Prize support so far includes: Certificates for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, painting, and sportsmanship Store credit out of entry money Miss Demeanor (not sure who this will go to, possibly a raffle) Wooden spoon for last place So, best painted will be at least the certificate. I haven't set any of the prizes in stone yet.
  5. Kirai makes all non-spirits rare 1, so you can only hire one desperate merc. You can add a dog in the second's place if you want the extra Gaki still. The only thing Kirai tends to really struggle with is Contain Power. I would consider starting with Night Terrors instead of the two initial Gaki for any speedy missions.
  6. That sounds (and looks) awesome. I should probably mention that the store opens at 10 AM, and I will be there around then to start setting up terrain.
  7. Glad to see so many responses. There are no painting requirements, but models must be assembled. Proxies are strongly frowned upon. Any and all help with terrain would be welcome. The store has a large collection of terrain pieces, but many of them are too large to be of much use in Malifaux. The more small terrain pieces we have for Plant Evidence, the better.
  8. Keep in mind: Reckless doesn't give you an AP, it gives you Fast.
  9. Kirai can get by without night terrors due to her other ridiculous movement tricks, but they are incredible with both Seamus and McMourning. They are also the best at what they do (grab objectives) even for Kirai. If you intend to branch out into the rest of the faction, get the night terrors. I also recommend a Desperate Merc. Turn 1, summon with Kirai, move the merc up, charge it with Datsue, trigger her spell, get a gaki/onryo and a seishin, and give Kirai a healing flip.
  10. Of course it's worth getting. Think of it as both a way to let Kirai play Contain Power, and an emergency switch if she has lost her support.
  11. I saw Burt, Gracie and Wong mentioned as being from Big Trouble in Little China, but I didn't see Yan-Lo included. He's clearly based on the villain, Lo-Pan, who is also cursed to exist between life and death.
  12. Not to derail this too much, but what version of the Bible is this from? I have heard this statement before, but I've never been able to find it in an actual Bible. On topic, Lucas McCabe seems to be based on Indiana Jones: a treasure hunter with a bullwhip.
  13. I will vouch for Guild Hounds, at least one blister, maybe two. Personally, I love Lucius, but YMMV. I would probably go with one blister of Guild Hounds, one blister of Guild Guard, and then the Lucius box.
  14. It's pretty unlikely that the director knows anything about Malifaux. Steampunk in general is starting to trend up, so it's showing up in more pop culture (re: Justin Bieber). I'd say it's a toss up whether there was a geek involved in the creation of that video, or just a marketing director slightly ahead of the curve.
  15. Minor edit to clarify that strategies are shared and schemes will be unique.
  16. Howdy, I will be running a Tournament on Sat. Nov 10th, at The Game Castle in Londonderry, NH. This tournament is designed to cater to newer players, and I will even have some crews to loan out. Event information as follows: Through the Breach 25ss Fixed Master Gaining Grounds Domination 3 rounds, 90 minutes each All Strategies are shared, Schemes will be unique Round 1: Slaughter Round 2: Plant Evidence Round 3: Claim Jump Entry is $5 Registration to begin at 11, play to start at noon. Please PM me with any questions or to RSVP. Matt
  17. Well, with halfway decent flips, the Drowned will soften his crew up enough for Ikiryo or Shikome to wreck the rest. I haven't actually played against Wardens yet, but between Shikome being immune to paralysis, and the generally disposable nature of Kirai's spirits (through recycling), they shouldn't be too troublesome. Catching the watchers may be difficult if I'm focusing on getting Assassinate, but denying Hold Out and Stake a Claim should be fairly simple.
  18. Ressurectionists Crew - 30 - Scrap Kirai Ankoku -- 4 Pool Lost Love [2ss] Canine Remains [2ss] Datsue-Ba [7ss] Desperate Mercenary [2ss] Seishin [2ss] Seishin [2ss] Seishin [2ss] Seishin [2ss] The Drowned [4ss] The Drowned [4ss] I'd definitely take Assassinate, and probably Bodyguard. Throw the Drowned up front, keep Datsue-ba and the living models back, and keep Kirai in the middle where everything will feed her Seishin. Summon Gaki and Onryo to keep enemy models trying to interact engaged, and have Drowned and Ikiryo try to get assassinate. This list will suffer against Sonnia and her Witchlings, but sometimes that's just the way it goes.
  19. Yes and no. They are so much better than they look. Dan of Gamer's Lounge tried them a while ago and then couldn't stop talking about them for two episodes. That convinced me to try them, and they really are great for 4 points. Target things with low df that can't use soulstones. With Kirai, use Chill of Spirits to prevent cheating the resist. Once you get Riptide off, everything within 2 inches of the target has to make the df duel, and the spell causes wounds, not damage. And they explode in a pulse 4. Proxy a couple, against anything but maybe Showgirls, and let them convince you. They really do a ton of damage.
  20. I would drop a madness and reduce your cache and give 2 drowned a shot. You really can't judge them until you try them. Just remember: they will die. They move up, maybe cast Riptide, then move into the middle of the enemy crew, die, Riptide on Slow to Die, and then explode. I have had a drowned hand out 10 damage in a turn, not bad for a 4 ss model. I don't know that I would run more than 2 except in large games, but they really are so much better than they look.
  21. I will throw in with the 3-5 crowd. Kirai will chew through your hand, but she isn't very stone dependent (at least the way I play her). Against crews that won't give you more Seishin, you may want an extra stone or two, and not use the Seishin to protect her (or use Seishin Beacon to keep them around).
  22. There have been a ton of Kirai threads recently, so browsing the first couple pages of this forum should turn up some good info on crew creation and such. Also, Drowned. Buy Drowned, play Drowned, love Drowned. Night Terrors are the other model she can't summon that are staples.
  23. Sebastian could easily be skipped if you want, which makes the box completely unnecessary. Of course, that works best if you already have the Nico and Seamus boxes... Anyway, Nurses aren't great, and Sebastian isn't top tier. Belles, on the other hand, are very, very good. Bottom line: Ressers just have a higher entry cost than some of the other factions out there.
  24. Seamus and McMourning both compliment her style well. Just don't pick Nico if that's what you want. They are (sort of) similar styles, but use none of the same models. As far as Contain Power goes, her avatar means she is no longer limited to 2 VP. I still think McMouning is better at it, but Kirai CAN get 4 VP now.
