  1. Not to try to justify, just explaining. I dont have a good pic of it, the back of the model I mean. The line goes under the dock and into the mouth of a piglet. Without seeing that, it does kind of look out of place for no reason. I fully understand that unexplainable feeling of dislike when people add "real world" material to a model, without modding on it. There is a guy at my LGS who is a jeweler who replaces weapons and adds gems here and there to minis. I am not a fan of it, detracts from the model etc etc. I appreciate the craft, but it just sticks out like a sore thumb and detracts from the wok her puts on the models paint/sculpting.
  2. Pic of the base before dock, pig and water was added.
  3. Got 1st one done...I need to paint faster. BTW - sealing AFTER the Water Effect is down was corrected, the frosting I mean, by immediatly applying brush on gloss. Pics! Cell phone cam is all I got, fuzzy pics FTW! C&C welcome plz
  4. ty for the kind words @ Omen - I am using the Woodland Scenics Realistic Water. After waking up this morning I noticed lots of creep and shrinkage. Have to add another layer, this time without the army green ink. The next time I have to pick up a needle injector for kind of water insertion. Tip for anyone adding water - DO NOT HOLD THE BASE WHILE ADDING. Leave it on the flat table and do not pick it up at all till it has cured fully. @ Avatar - The dock is made from craft sticks cut down to size. The ropes on the sides are just copper wiring. The Bullreeds are copper wire as well with sand flock glue to ends. The swamp grass is tall woodland scenic grass. After I glued it to the base I took a lighter to it to give the bunch of grass shape and the realistic browning effect and curl to the ends of it. With the dock, I added small drops of gel super glue where the bolts to hold it together would be. This was unnoticeable after the glue dried until I primed it. It was a nice surprise as there was a few weeks time lapse between assemble and prime. I completely forgot about it. Turned out really nice and very subtle. No exagerated "bolt" bump...very natural smooth bolt look. I should have the whole thing done today, maybe I can get a good pic of it with better lighting. My work bench lamp floods too much light. Good for working, bad for photos.
  5. I have some WIP shots of my up and coming Bayou Gremlins I have had for almost a year now and am finally getting around to painting. I am kinda worried about the water effects though... First time using them, if it does not settle right, it could ruin all my work so far. Good thing it is only one base as of now. Yes, bad lighting...not bad for a cheap cell phone shot. Base front: Base rear:
  6. I use Water Effects from Woodland Scenics with snow flock mixed in it. Make sure you get the water effect with the pointy squeeze end, the other stuff is too runny. The Water Effects stuff will let you mold it to a degree. This a a much more natural and wet/crystal look to the snow.
  7. I just imagine Sigil and dont care if I am wrong, haha. Well, Sigil with a bog.
  8. You are the first out of at least 15 forums I frequent, which equates to well over 100 people, have said they do not like it. You are effectively 1% of the population.
  9. Ahh....I remember now after seeing the Eagle ripping the head off.
  10. Sealer...use sealer. Lots of chips, obvious lots of play, which is good!
  11. You know, a completely outlandish guitar would have worked perfect. Maybe the guitar from Spinespur's Sex Star Six or maybe an old Noise Marine. Either way, I really like the level of dirt and grit you added to it. Nice.
  12. What is this Hell Dorado and does its awesome match up to that model?

  14. The denim and tatched hat texture on the Ortega's is astounding.
  15. I shaved off their legs, cause they look NOTHING at all like mosquito legs. I replaced legs with thin foam cutting wire blade, with putty along the back side of it to give it rigid support. This has given the legs that feel on the back of their legs like they grab on to something now.
  16. Hippty Hop. I am sure they have large ones.
  17. Yeah, they can just be tugged out if I care. I think though, I will leave them on the pigs and just paint them dullcoate black.
  18. I have put all my piglets on springs...working on pinning wings to them as well. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psZ-HzoalOU]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psZ-HzoalOU[/ame]
  19. I got the same about Warmachine...for the opposite reason. I went almost 2 years without even coming close to being beat. It had nothing to do with better rolls then the other...just something about Menoth really clicked in my head. Hell, the last league I was in, I had 180 something points, and the 2nd place had like 60 something. I got grand champion, tactician and best team...and I was on my own team as a joke. I did not play the most games, I think 4th place guy did. I was the 3rd for most games played I believe. The complete lack of challenge anymore really killed my spirit. What happened? I stopped playing and am currently in the process of selling all my Menoth. I still like mini games so I have gone to smaller scaled games so as to not drain my bank account. Hence why I am here and Spinespur.

    Big Pig

Yeah, I really liked that. I used to do extreme audio installs and I would have to lay that thick tacky Dynamat all over the doors. One day we got a call from a very angry customer. Me and my buddy in the shop, while the car was there being worked on and the door panels were off. We would leave eachother notes for the entire time the vehicle was there. We had a Suburban in there for like 2 months getting an entire fiberglass overhaul inside. We COVERED every inch of the inside door panels. It was always jokes or sick comments and we would try to one up eachother over and over. Man, that was fun.
  21. I got my wing bits in today from Hasslefree...wow. Awesome quality bits!!! 0, none, nadda flash on them at all. Very nice top quality part. I will be dealing with them in the future, despite the horrible wait time.
  22. I plan on hot laminating my cards. This has actually been a gripe with me. The card design. There is a lot of needless information and a lot of space that is being taken up for...what, no idea. The cards are supposed to be a tool for ease of gameplay, not a show piece. I would have much rather preffered a single standard card size.
  23. So'mer is drastically under balanced. Not to say you cant have fun with them. Just that you cannot be all that effective unless you have 4 buggers, a whisperer and at least a blister of piglets.
  24. Good stuff. I really like your base work, excellent. Might want to hit them with a spritz of dullcoate...a bit shiney.
