  1. - Nathan - will be sure to take plenty of pictures. There are still tickets left if people are wanting to come along.
  2. We have found 30-35 SS gives a nice balance between flexibility in crew choice and still allows a smooth flowing game. 20-25 SS is fine for demo games but once players move beyond the starter boxes there is a desire to use more and expand.
  3. I will be running some game demos at the Blind Pig Games Club, Brisbane this weekend. Address is RSL Hall - 58 Arnold St Holland Park QLD 4121 Entry is $5 and there will be many other games being played as well if you are into other systems. Will have some spare crews if you wish to play and have not got a crew yet. Date Saturday 6th of March Time 10am til 4pm.
  4. I wasn't aware we were in disagreement and I am sorry I have used the wrong word (typing in haste). I think you are deliberately trying to pick holes in the game instead of seeing the intention of the Three-Headed rule. As Goblyn13 says this placement of the (+2) is consistent with Fast et al.
  5. I think some will work better for beginers than others but that is also due to the learning curve associated. I would echo the thoughts on the McMourning Box as two Nurses at such a low points bracket is not optimal. The Boxes that are probably best (IMO) to use straight out would be, Viktorias (no Ronin but the basic box is still not too shaby), Ortegas, and Seamus. Whereas Marcus, Som'er and McMourning have some minor falldowns. Marcus' crew suffers from low model count with each model being high in cost so you lose one and you are at a big disadvantage. Som'er can do better with more Pigs and I have already mentioned McMourning. These are minor issues though as they are more than good enough to learn with and it's not much to grab an extra blister or two.
  6. This is probably true but I guess it differs due to the fact that the Cerberus loses the ability once it drops beneath half health. Whereas an ability would be permanent.
  7. Actually the way I believe it is used and the way I use it is that it gives you 2 additional melee strikes so you could charge (2) and then make two subsequent strikes. It is written a (+2) Three Headed. So it gives you 2 extra specific AP while you are above half health. It's kind of like being (+2) Melee Master for when you have 4+ wounds. (I don't have my rulebook with me at work so I may be incorrect on some points - Plus I'm no Rules Marshal)
  8. If one of the Rules Marshals say it's optional then I would consider that pretty definitive. I would have thought it was clarified.
  9. Yep next time will be held at the Pig. We'll have a bit more space there. It is getting too cramped to be held at ours, if the Blind Pig twice a month is sating peoples appetites we may need to look into hall hire. PS - Zoraida is an absolute B#%&H!!!!111!!!
  10. I'd hate to think you are implying that Drop Bears are mythical... One of them killed my uncle.
  11. V22TTC - I'm guessing you were talking about my restrictions when referring to your Infinity models. By your description they would more than pass. You say that you only have two colours (excluding black and white) plus shading and blending. This would get through as I would define 3+ colours as including shades and black and white. As to the bases it sounds like they have been based, just not in the traditional sense. By what you describe it would easily pass the requirements I have set. I think people may have misunderstood the intent of making a ruling such as I have. To me stipulating 3 colours should not be arduous even to the least capable painter.
  12. Use the terrain and LOS to your advantage. Try to break up her Gamin and draw the big guy out. Rasputina, while dangerous from a distance, is very fragile and a concerted effort will bring her down.
  13. Pretty straightforward, they are simply the main body and a curled up tail section. They will not sit flat on a base due to the direction of the curl so unles you want to go crazy with converting, make sure the base is built up like mine is. They also have a separate piece for the teeth but that is neither here nor there. The biggest challenge is removing the mould lines as they can be in some pretty bad places. Thanks for the comments too, Artificer and Kagelong.
  14. My ears were burning... Hi Kingcaboose, there is quite a growing little community of players in Brisbane and we play on a very regular basis (at least 1 per fortnight). I will be running the first event in Brisbane in mid April and we will be regular features at the Blind Pig Club until then. Can organise to run through some demo games with you if you like or I can set you up with some other players. Always up for some games. Cheers
  15. For the event I am running I have specified that a model has to be painted with at least 3 colours and be based. Any model that does not meet this standard counts as insignificant (and cannot be made significant by any means) and will be counted as a casualty at the end of the game. I don't think this is an unfair penalty as a crew doesn't have more than a dozen or so miniatures. You can still use these miniatures but you will be at a disadvantage to do so. This is because I want to use the event to showcase Malifaux to a larger audience and having nice looking models on great terrain looks more appealing than undercoated or bare metal. In friendlies I don't mind so much but I prefer to have all of mine painted. It helps that I enjoy painting.
  16. Now according to my research* a Jackalope is a mythical creature from North American folklore that is a Jackrabbit with antlers. I figure until an official sculpt is available for this miniature I should create one of my own. Does anyone know of any good manufacturers who make a suitable rabbit or jackrabbit miniature? I know Reaper have one in their familiars range and I can recall one or two others but I would be open to suggestion. *Looked it up on Wikipedia
  17. Ok subject line is now fixed. Curry is always an option and yes, dependant on numbers and participants desire we can change location.
  18. I will be running some game demos at Love, Dice and Paintbrushes, Brisbane this weekend. Will have some spare crews if you wish to play and have not got a crew yet. Places are limited due to space so send me a PM to confirm your spot. Date Saturday 27th of February Time 7pm til late. We can orgainse Pizza so if you want some bring some change.
  19. Lox Jarg - 30mm scale Astharon - 30mm scale Due for release on the 4th of March from Enigma Miniatures
  20. What about Master Holt from the Privateers?
  21. Why not use a converted Santiago Ortega? He has the two pistols already, a little bit of converting to make him unique and Robert is your Father's Brother. I actually like the model but I must confess that I wasn't too sure til I saw the model in the flesh (so to speak)
  22. Update 19/02 Myranda from the Order of the Chimera - Not too happy with her but after stripping her once already I just wanted to get her done. I'll revisit her fresh one day. Should be getting some more goodies soon...
  23. Already planning what I am going to do - thinking a Guild crew.
  24. I think she doesn't get to keep her Ca primarily to prevent her from Shape changing from animal to animal. You pretty much have to drop back into human form before going to another form. Not that it isn't doable to go from animal form to another animal form - just need some high cards. As for Wp, some of the forms actually have better, the Cerberus, for example gets the bonus to Wp duels when the defender.
  25. Everything but Myranda's spells are replaced by the shapeshift and any wounds carry across. - Abilities, actions, triggers they all will be usable by Myranda in her shapeshift form. It's given as an example in the rulebook so when you get the chance I highly recomend picking up a copy.
