  1. Thanks Nathan - I'll get on that post haste. (and Chucklemonkey, ain't that the truth - "And it's bits of cardboard in this envelope is it?...").
  2. Oh I'm sure they're very busy and I'm not in a massive rush to get the cards back - but knowing whether they've actually arrived or not would be handy with regards to postal claim processing.
  3. Yup, and a few really stand-out powerful models. The Cryx of Malifaux .
  4. Again, just using 'local meta' but round here Neverborn are considered the most powerful, and often the least fun to play against. We used to have more Neverborn than any other Faction, but most of them have moved to other Factions now to make the games more fun for everyone (theirs words, not ours ). The remaining Neverborn player uses Zoraida (just make sure scenario doesn't allow for too many lines of sight the length of the board) and is about to try the Dreamer. He already only plays Lelu and Lilitu in 'result counts only' games.
  5. Hello, I sent my cards off on the 14th Feb and as it's been a month now (and the closing date is just about upon us), I was wondering what sort of turn-around time other people had had (I'm in the UK)? Is there anyway to find out whether the cards were received okay and the date the replacements were sent? Thanks.
  6. Friekorp are in-faction for the Viks.
  7. There's also the Deva Tarot, that's got a whole extra suit to choose from.
  8. Oooh, a miss pack Miss Pack. I can't decide if that's ironic or fated... .
  9. It's a great board to play on, that's for sure - really makes for an atmospheric occasion. These pics are from our recent club Halloween tourney (Nicodem, Viktorias and Zoraida made it to the final (the sorrows are the 'living impaired' needed for the scenario)): (Moros also painted the trophy for it, and I can grab a photo of that anytime ) Below is a pic of Moros' older board, which also deserves a mention (Oh the bloodshed that has occurred on it ): The big tree in the middle is removable so can be replaced with another large terrain feature.
  10. Sorry, meant 'Stitched Together' change. I get so confused with all the borkeness of Neverborn melding into one in my brain.
  11. 1) Pandora. I'm not going to sit on the fence here - anyone who thinks otherwise has simply not played against her when she's being played by a good player. 2) Zoraida on a board without enough terrain. Still way more fun than playing against Pandora, though. 3) Lillith / Original Levi / Pre-Alp change LCB / Perdita on a board without enough terrain.
  12. I'm actually going to go with: Viks: Need Ronin. It's not a case of playing optimally, but they're the one defense mechanism that the Viks have. Since the Ronin have been released there's at least one, normally two in every Vik list (even after the 'fixing'), while there are models, such as Bishop, in the box set that serve no purpose and get immediately dropped and replaced (by Ronin).
  13. It never occurred to me before, but now I wish I'd thought to think about whether a Lure on one Vik, could have helped the other...
  14. Wow, long thread. Not sure that anyone is really listening to anyone else anymore, but just in case they are... I've been a professional games designer for over sixteen years now, and I can tell you that while it might feel like time is crawling along with no update out here, inside the dev house that time is flying past. It takes a very, very long time to get this sort of thing right: checking the issues; checking the interactions; big meetings to sort out the large issues; smaller meetings to sort out the small issues; big meetings to discuss the small meetings; changes being made; changes being checked, rechecked and checked again; meetings re-checking new interactions... (aah, you get the idea ). I should imagine Wyrd are desperate to get out V2 (it's how they make their living, after all, they don't want their players getting narked and leaving the game) but they also want to make sure that they get it as right as possible so as they don't get a ton of complaints and need to make another big change in the near future. Personally, I love the game. Sure it's got a number of odd problems and little flaws right now, but it's also incredibly good fun and that makes it much, much better than a dull game which is issue-free (if such a thing as issue-free exists in this environment ).
  15. And were there any changes? Inquiring minds want to know... .
  16. I don't disagree with any of this, however my point is that they're made of glass and if played in an overambitious manner they will die quickly. This can be disheartening if your opponents master is hard to kill and your 'big effort' ended in your death rather than that of your opponent. That said they're very effective in the right hands, or against any horde. Hang on now. You've referred to me as having "unending negativity" towards the Vik's and then made the exact same point as me. Unless you're also calling yourself out (and in which I'd rather not be complicit in your issues ) that makes no sense. I like the Viktorias a lot, I've played them a lot (and against a good number of Masters). I've lost with them and won with them. This doesn't mean that they're something they're not; and what they are, are glass cannons that thrive on taking out the lesser masses but can struggle when matched up against a tough opponent (which isn't always ideal for someone getting into the game fresh). Honest appraisal should never be confused with "unending negativity", in the same way that constant positivity should not be assumed to be due to slack-jawed idiocy.
  17. Only if that is also true of your opponent, and even then I'd be wary of saying so. They can do damage, but they die very easily to any semi-competent player if they don't know what you're doing.
  18. It's certainly going to be tricky to get them working well together. In a 25SS crew, I don't think you can afford Hans (I'm not his biggest fan, though) - I'd swap him out for a Ronin and the extra Soul Stones, personally. I'd also give a little thought to Viks, either Misaki or Taelor, 3 Ronin. Even after the cuddle, the Ronin are still pretty good and Vik needs them for her own survivability.
  19. Out next week (Maelstrom has 24th Nov listed). I'm picking them up as they'll be great with my Viks. If I was starting fresh... I might well got with the Gremlins (for the fun factor). Although they're really quite effective now to boot (gooooo Pigapult!).
  20. I definitely wouldn't go for the Vik's - they're very fragile and if they get lost too early it leaves an uphill struggle. What about the new Friekorps? They've got a bit of everything in their list, a tough to kill boss and it's easy to add the Vik's (and their Mercs) to them.
  21. I'm really not sure what to say. But it's a positive loss for words, know that...
  22. Time to use a little green stuff to extend the t-shirt? That said, from the top down you never get to see the underboob, anyway, so I barely notice it (mores the pity from my point of view ). This is a very common feeling with the Viks in quite a few circumstances. Logic tells you that because she's so easy to kill, that she can take anything down. But that's not really true - you have to be fairly cagey with and not throw her out there unless you can afford to lose her. Also, note that she's great against a group of low def guys, but can't cut it against anything that properly stand up against her - you need support for that. Taelor is great with the Viks - she's tricky to kill and can use Hammerstrike to get some extra movement out of them. Hamelin is another great choice, due to the tricks he can pull. Misaki is fun, too, but she's basically another Vik (some tricks, hits hard, dies easily) so be aware of that before you put her down. Book 2 brings the Friekorp and the Desperate Mercenary; basically everything she needed to give her the options she needed.
  23. We still play 35pt games, as we always did. We tried a couple of 25pt games to see if they were fun (while confirming tournament rules) but didn't enjoy them as we didn't feel that there was the space to include a 'luxury' figure or two. Of course, with the new book there's ton more toys to tryout, but people still want to use their old favourites that they just can't do without. But that's part of the fun .
