  1. At least the base isn't a broccoli base on it. That's an accomplishment in itself for a DHL fig. I like the idea behind the Bone Caller, but the sculpt doesn't do much for me. The Dwarves are ok, but I've never been a big dwarf fan.
  2. Reaper's posted some pics of their new greens http://reapermini.com/Greens. In this batch is a female necromancer calling skeletons from below, and a couple of dwarven leaders for Warlord.
  3. Eden Studios is getting ready to release their expansion to All Flesh Must Be Eaten, titled All Tomorrow's Zombies. Three words: Zombies in space In preparation for the August release they've slapped together a teaser pdf. Here's the Gaming Report Article http://www.gamingreport.com/article.php?sid=21663 and a link to the preview pdf http://www.edenstudios.net/ATZpreview.pdf
  4. Wow, he really got the crap kicked outta him. The bruises look quite real.
  5. Armor is another good power-armor book. Can't remember the author's name at the moment though.
  6. Starship Troopers is one of the few books that I go back and read again. Think I've read it four or five times now, which is a lot for me. Usually I read a book and it goes on the shelf to collect dust until it ends up yard sale fodder or donated to the Community Center at whichever installation I'm leaving at the time. If you're looking for an action novel with power suits, this is one of the standards (if not THE standard). If you want an interesting take on political theory, it's a good read, but you can ignore it and focus on the story. FTR, I do not like the movie. The characters and places have the same name, but that's about it in my assessment. My biggest complaint was the complete and utter lack of power armor. How can't you make a movie called Starship Troopers and not have power armor? That approaches blasphemy. Though I can't complain about the shower scene. To keep this remotely on topic about the minatures, the initial miniatures suck IMO. They're getting better though. If they had started with the power armor they released a few months ago they might have had me hooked. I understand some people play it at the FLGS, but I've never seen anyone actually playing, so I know nothing about the rules themselves. Probably can't get table space from the 40k and WHFB players (it's a tiny store).
  7. I really like this one. It fit the theme of the contest better than some of the others that where better technique-wise but didn't scream testosterone. I just want to know what gym he goes to get that many ab muscles.
  8. Here's my entry. Let me start off by saying that I think the problem is my monitor. I was trying to match colors with reference pictures of polished bronze armor and weapons from the 'net. That may account for the "light red" look to the armor. This was the first thing I painted after attending a few painting classes in May, apparently I should've taken a class on basing as well. At any rate, for my first contest entry ever, I'm just glad that two other people voted for it!
  9. They also sell stowage and cargo accessory kits for each scale. Helps give them a little flare. Haven't bought any of their stuff yet, but really want to.
  10. I like the drones, Hellcats, and Interventor, but nothing in the starter pack really excites me.
  11. I typically prefer sci-fi minis. No more 40k though, if I paint another skull covered figure that isn't a necromancer it'll be too soon. I'll paint fantasy types to work on my technique, for a specific game, or maybe a contest. Though lately pirate themed minis have been garnering some interest. Since I don't paint fantasy that much, high fantasy isn't boring yet, but my only criteria is whether or not the mini talks to me. It makes it so much easier when the mini tells you how it wants to be painted.
  12. Sorry to see you get DQ'd, that was one I was going to vote on. Kudos to you for sportsmanship. Some folks would get bent out of shape about it. It is an excellently painted mini, the only thing I didn't like about it was a minor color choice issue and that's personal preference, not technique.
  13. I usually don't care much for Rackham's sculpts, but I like the armored dude. It's like he's pointing out his next victim like a baseball player would point over the fence predicting a homerun.
  14. Nice work! Only thing I'd suggest would've been to cut up and scatter the skeleton a little bit. It looks like it was posed for the picture. The minotaur is quite nice.
  15. Oops, need to pay more attention to what I type, I didn't mean your bases per se, but the broader more generalized sense. What I meant, was that most mini's I've seen lately on several boards have had a grey rock of some sort on it. Sorry for the confusion. [administers 30 lashes with a wet noodle to self]
  16. That's a curious lookin' feller. I like the toxic green coloring.
  17. He looks great. I really like the base as I get tired of seeing your standard gray stones.
  18. Have to agree with Wren on that. I'm curious to see how many people ante up for this beast. I've a feeling that other than the hard core collectors with the means, not many will pay that much.
  19. Hi all. I'm new to these parts, though I do recognize a few names from some other boards I visit. Anyway, thought I'd post some pics here to get yall's feedback on my most recent project, a CAV Wolverine tank. Here's the pics: With the exception of the black tank treads, everything was painted with Reaper Master Series Paints. Questions, comments, and critiques most welcome.
  20. That's a pretty slick lookin' video. Too bad I've pretty much sworn off video games to focus on my painting and make more time to actually play the games I have mini's for.
