Lucidicide
Hello everyone! The tournament was a success! We had a total of 12 people come out and play for 4 rounds. It seemed like everyone had a good time, so thanks to everyone who came out. A special thanks to those of you who came from outside of Virginia, and nice meeting those I'd never met before. I hope you all had fun. Onto the results! Lucidicide
Your wish is my command. For now, here are the strategies. Twice for two means that two people got half points for it, but since that added to a full that wasn't obvious. Since I counted the "shared" as flipped twice (once for each player), I made note of that. Its a shame that the Master of Malifaux didn't get to meet Nix at a table this time out. Don't worry about it, I'm making up the numbers anyway. Nix was at the top table in the last round, and it was Collodi v Zoraida + Collodi. It was close to a mirror match, and very interesting to see (at least the parts I did see). One of the reasons I wanted to do so many stats was to see how much things really panned out. With that said, a question to those of you who played: Did you think that knowing your opponent's Master before hiring your crew helped balance the game? Of those, only 3 saw the table more than once (the first three). Two Masters achieved 8 VP every time they hit the table: Ophelia and Pandora. Both hit the table twice. After that, it was a tie for an average of 7 VP with Collodi (overall winner), Seamus, and Lady J. The only other Masters to average 5 or more VP per game were Leveticus and Perdita, at 6 (both only saw the table once). What do all these numbers mean? Nothing, really. But they might be overall helpful if I can line them up with future tournament data. And as I said, it was mostly just to flaunt my own data. Isn't my data sexy? It gets allllll the ladies. ---------- Post added at 08:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:53 PM ---------- I think he works with numbers at his job. True, but not in a good way. wrabbit37
Aaron, to answer your question about whether knowing the masters early helped to balance things, I honestly didn't really use that information in creating my lists, so I can't really say. I do know it was a step I kept almost forgetting until my opponent asked me who I was playing.
nix
On the question of declaring master before hiring the rest of the crew, I will agree with Mike. I did not find it useful. I already had an idea what my crew would be going into the games and hired my whole crew based on strategy. Ok, thats not entirely true. I hired my crew round 1 based on a new player next to the table picking Zoraida over Pandora because she looked cooler. I picked Pandora round 2 and 3 due to strategy and match-up in faction (Neverborn and Reser). Round 4 I took Dan's advice but was too lazy to unpack a different crew so I took Zoraida against the best Zoraida player I know. My mistake cost me dearly! *grin*
Lucidicide
Thanks for the feedback! If I compile all the datas, I shall create the perfect tournament! Of course, then the players will mess it up by not playing perfectly. /grumble
Argivian
the players will mess it up by not playing perfectly You're welcome. I aim to please. Announcing masters may have helped in my game against Collodi (I would have taken more blast producing pigs), however we both forgot to announce and setup like normal. Guy in Suit
It didn't really help me - as I have to pick my master before knowing as well - and the decision whether to take an all WP4 crew or not is made once I've picked Ophelia. I mean, I probably would have liked knowing I was totally boned and playing Hamelin before crew selection - but I would have already gone down the path of no return lol. marshimartian
Honestly, the choose master beforehand only really influenced my crew once. But then it might have had more of an impact had I not played the same faction 3 rounds in a row ;-) Subjectively, I'd say it doesn't really matter, but I feel like it definitely has the potential to matter based on strategies.
