damage flips and cheating fate

Hi there, I'm just looking for some clarification on cheating damage flips... I'm finding the wording in the mini rulebook slightly confusing.

It reads that damage flips can cheat fate with restrictions as other flips, but do not gain modifiers that caused the flip.

As an example, does this mean that you couldn't cheat a "hard to wound" but you could cheat a damage flip where the duel difference caused a negative flip?

You can't cheat a flip that gains a negative flip. You can cheat a straight flip even though the model would have hard to wound. There are a few exceptions such as impossible to wound and a trigger called Flay which change the rules on the whole cheating thing.

Can never cheat a negative flip (unless an abilty or trigger let's you. See flay.) Also can't cheat when you flip the black joker (again unless you have an abilty to do so. See pact). Straight flips and + can be cheated.

If after totals have been determined, if you have one or more - fate, you cannot cheat. Unless you have an ability that allows otherwise.
