Float vs Flame Wall

We came up with an interesting question at a tournament yesterday. Snowstorm wanted to charge a witchling stalker and in so would have had to go through a flame wall. Since he had float does he float over the flame wall and take no damage or does he go through it and take damage.

The Flame Wall is a marker and not Terrain so we ruled it could go over but would like to know if would have taken the damage or not.

If it's obscuring then he can't see through it.

And yes, Flight or Float can go over it.

What happened is Snowstorm could see past the side of the flame wall but to charge had to go through it.

Float states it ignores terrain effects and since a Flame Wall isn't terrain it's a marker would that mean he can go over it or take the damage to go through it

Snowstorm is a Spirit, too, and, if the Flamewall counted as terrain (which, it doesn't), he could move through it regardless. Although the Flamewall is not terrain, it is only Ht 5, so flight and float should be able to go over it, as though it were terrain.

[The rules for markers could use some further clarification, imo, since some of them do function as terrain, even if it is only temporarily.]
