ARCANISTS WEEK!

The Guild have had their week and it's time to move on! That's right everyone, it's time for Arcanist Week over at http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/.

This means that for this entire week, we are pushing people to focus on completing the entries for any existing Arcanist model up through book 3. This includes Masters, Henchmen, Minions, Totems, and Avatars.

So please, take a few minutes to head on over and give your favorite Arcanist model a once over. Think you know the Arcanists really well? Well this is your chance to prove it by writing up some tactica for your beloved models. Make some improvements, add further detail, correct spelling and grammar mistakes, etc. We can't do this without you, so please help us make the Wiki a better resource for all your Malifaux needs!

Here is the updated schedule as promised:

Current Schedule:

  • Guild: 9/3 - 9/9
  • Arcanist: 9/10 - 9/16
  • Ressers:: 9/17 - 9/23
  • Neverborn: 9/24 - 9/30
  • Outcast: 10/1 - 10/7

So spread the word! We need your help on this. This wiki is a Community project, it's built by you and up-kept by you. Without you, there would be no wiki. Take a few minutes a day to read over the entry of your favorite model. Make sure all the little tricks you know about are there and that the grammar, spelling, and content is of the highest level. If you notice something wrong, then don't just sit there... fix it!

The Wiki lives and breaths for your benefit and through your efforts. We are not where we are through the efforts of just a few people. We are there through the efforts of 100's of people! So please, take 15 - 30 minutes out of your day and give us a hand again.

Formatting went all wonky on me there!

Any way, please feel free to use this thread to discuss any changes, co-ordinate any of the work to be done, or simply to discuss the many virtues of pie!

I'm considering writing a chunk of tactics for Ramos on how to work around his mobility issues.

It's a bit long given the way the wiki is structured, and comments or edits are welcome:

RAMOS MOBILITY

Positioning is key in Malifaux. Many armies accomplish this using speed and mobility. While Ramos has many minions (and a couple henchmen) who are maneuverable, he is not and never will be.

However, there are some tricks that can help him be where he needs to be when he needs to be there. It is critical to identify early where you want him, because none of these methods are very forgiving if you put him in the wrong place.

Solution 1: Stay Put

If you can swing it, this is the best solution. It is free, and Ramos can use all the extra actions and soulstones to have a horrific force available when crunch time hits.

When to use: when a significant number of VPs depend on controlling areas of the board in or near your deployment zone.

Note: This is Ramos' ideal situation. If you get a strategy pair like this you should already be reaching for Ramos before you many any other decisions.

Solution 2: Hoof It

Sometimes the right choice is just to walk slowly up field. By the end of turn two, you'll be at the center line of the board, ready to project all many of electricity. This is usually a bad idea, because master AP are too valuable to spend walking 3" each.

When to use: if you have no other masters and don't like #3, #4, or #5.

Note: while you can theoretically get to the enemy deployment zone like this, it will almost never work, because it's too easy for your opponent to get in the way, and you need those AP for winning the game.

Solution 3: Get a Ride

Some models are capable of pushing friendlies around. Hire one of those and shove Ramos where he needs to be.

When to use: when you're willing to tie up several soulstones near Ramos creating a strong center to your army.

Choices:

  • Snow storm(11): a very strong if thematically weak choice. Snowstorm can easily move Ramos 18" in the first two turns.
  • Mechanical Rider(8): a good model, but depends on key cards and will damage Ramos (quite a lot if you get unlucky). Also, much of the rider's strength is her speed and she'll give it all up to stay near Ramos.
  • Hunter(6+1): a much weaker model than the rider, it loses less by being stuck near Ramos and is less card dependant on the pulls.

Note: With either construct, Ramos is taking 1 Wd for each 4" push.

Solution 4: Explosive LSPA Gambit

  • Buy a Large Steampunk Arachnid
  • move it ~5" in front of Ramos
  • have the Mobile Toolkit use Controlled Detonation on it
  • have Ramos advance 6" to collect the scrap.

This gambit gives Ramos three scrap that he will use over the first three turns to summon spiders. It's only slightly better than just hoofing it, but it is still better.

When to use: when you were planning on taking a couple spiders anyway. Take the LSPA instead and save a stone or four.

Note: like solution #2, this gives up one of Ramos' big advantages, which is the model superiority that comes from being a summoner.

Solution 5: Avatar

The Avatar of Invention is much faster than Ramos. Get it.

I was curious about one thing while looking over the wiki recently, and that is: What is the policy on pictures? I notice a lot of the model entries are not accompanied by a picture of the model.

Pictures we generally like to go with the Store photo for the model. Just copy it and upload it to the wiki and sesize it similiar to what we have. We don't really have a tight policy on this aspect though.

It's 4 days in and it's looking very bleak for the Arcanists! We have only 4 edits (3 of them to the Arcanists main page) to the Arcanists.

Come on Arcanists players, rally to your faction and show us what you know. Do you want to go down as this years least supported faction for the Wiki? We know there are some absolutely amazing Arcanists players out there who have a wealth of knowledge. Many of you have guided plenty of people before when it comes to learning their crew, we are asking you to help many more by sharing that knowledge and skill with the wiki.

Don't bee fooled! Yes all the models have a page, but most of them are woefully unfinished or are not up to the Wiki's standard for completion.

Take a look at the poor Slate Ridge Mauler: http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Slate+Ridge+Mauler. There is so much more that can be said about this cuddly model. Or the Silent One: http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Silent+One, or the Razorspine Rattler: http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Razorspine+Rattler. I hope your starting to see now that there is still a lot of work to be done on our beloved Arcanists. We need your help. We need your time, knowledge, and skill to help finish this project and pass on what we've all learned to new players to the Faction or even to new players to a single model.

So please, spare an hour of your time the coming next few days and spend some time finishing up an Arcanists entry. We can't do this without you.

Alright your week is up! We've had a good number of edits but no where near what we need! We appreciate all the help that has been given and we hope you will continue to work on the articles as the weeks progress. Its never "you can only change things during this time", so please don't think the time has passed to help out! If you got a model you want to work on, why put it off?
