Anyone use special terrain?

Does anyone use the special terrain? Curious how big of an effect they have on games. Our group hasn't been, but then I was looking at Ratty's site and printed the cards for the special terrain and thought they would be a fun addition to our games. So this week's league night we are going to give them a go.

I stopped flipping for terrain effects after several games of them having no impact. If its something board wide like all terrain is obscuring/severe then it changes the game greatly, but a campsite or soul stone mine never really does much.

I think it depends on your group. Creepy structure always seems to enhance a game in our group. For some reason, we all seem to enjoy using it.

I ran a fairly effective tournament where each table had a special feature attributed to it. I've alos had scenarios where I assigned a special feature. Yes, there are times where it just doesn't do much, but I think that is partly due to the fact that no one really uses them, so they are often forgotten in game.

I think they are really fun, and look forward to using them in story based games - they can at time be tough to remember tho!

I use special terrain occasionally. I usually go with a mutually agreed upon selection rather than a random flip, that way there is more of a chance of the piece being used.

Recently, I've been using teleport squares because we have two nice terrain pieces for it and that has added some real fun to our games.

Our Henchmen likes stuff like the random special terrain so it is used more often then not, often the only time it is not is if people forget about it. That said sometimes for events or specials he has a preset special for all the games.
