Question about magic damage

greg1394

Question

Hello !

Another silly question.

Picture this... I cast a spell that dose damage 1/2/3 with a cast of 20 the defender fails with a def of 17 therefore i am winning by three points .

Now..the rules manual says "the difference ...counts as the combat total for any effects including damage flips ", so dose this mean that the attacker uses the "combat total modifier chart" and therefore recive 1 negative flip OR that you use the "damage chart" an automatically do weak damage ?.

Or is it a 3rd option I am to much of a noob to find ?

Cheers !
