chevelle4 Posted June 18, 2011 Report Share Posted June 18, 2011 Hello, I'm brand new to Malifaux and have purchased the Von Schill box and am trying to look toward the future and am curious about which crew to pick next, someone who works well with my freikorps models. I've read that the Viktorias are good but we already have friend in our gaming group who plays them. Are there any other good synergy masters I could use for brawls? Thanks in advance for any tips! Ratty Posted June 18, 2011 Report Share Posted June 18, 2011 The problem is it's expensive to run Von Schill in any non Outcast crew. 1ss extra per model adds up quickly. You could run him with Som'er in a brawl as Som'er's hiring restrictions are only for scraps, it might work OK. But the Viks really are the Master to use in a Brawl. I suppose I'll use him and his crew exclusively for scraps and maybe branch out into a different faction later to build up crews for brawls. Serigala Posted June 19, 2011 Report Share Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Because of the way models overlap between different Masters from the same Faction, most players tend to expand on crews within a single Faction (at least at first). This is less the case with the Outcasts as so many of them have hiring restrictions. If you just bought the Viks blister, rather than their boxset, they would create a very different crew with Von Schill to the one your friend is likely already playing (even though they would by definition be the Master in a combined crew). If both of you are looking to add another Master/Henchman to the Viks and Von Schill respectively then you are both going to be handicapped somewhat if you really want to avoid duplication. They are the most obvious, effective and efficient (points wise) pairing for either. Maybe one of you could buy the other out! Halflingspy Posted July 6, 2011 Report Share Posted July 6, 2011 I've been trying to figure out this problem as well: I'm picking up Von Schill very soon because I love their fluff and the look, but worried they will run into the same problem that most Outcasts have: limitation of crew. The Freikorps are very awesome because they are cohesive as a group, but the problem is their Master is a henchmen.
