edonil
What's the era for it?
Mister Monkey
Operation Market Garden, so late 1944.
edonil
Sadly, I know nothing about the operation itself, lol.
Mister Monkey
It was the allied gamble to go through Holland and into Germany.... they dropped the American 101st and 82nd Airborne and the British 1st Airborne with the Polish Airborne to capture a series of bridges through Holland so British armour could drive all the way through to the Rhine and into Germany. Is one of my favourite operations of the war.
edonil
Huh, sweet. Might need to do some research on that one, it sounds interesting.
Mister Monkey
The movie A Bridge too Far is particularly good on the subject

Mister Monkey
Sweet, a lot of those older war movies tend to be more factual and less Hollywood
edonil
Yeah, To Hell and Back was one of the big ones for that bit. Audie Murphy wouldn't let them put in some stuff that actually happened because he figured no one would believe it! Not too much, Steam, how are you? Mister Monkey
Hey Steam.... not much, almost falling asleep on the couch. How about with you?
SteamHammer
Not bad, too hot here this week for my liking. I don't think I've ever seen To Hell and Back. Strange, I thought I'd seen all the classic war movies.
Mister Monkey
Dont think I have seen that one either.....
edonil
It's about the most decorated American soldier of WWII. He actually starred himself, oddly enough. Skinny little kid (was too young and the Marines wouldn't take him) and was probably one of, if not the, biggest badasses of the whole war.
