edonil
Hey, the pole dancer is a heckuva lot better than pHaley, or any of the metal Denny's...
Mister Monkey
Yeah but I got the alt pHaley, that one is not bad..... *grin*
edonil
No, that one isn't so bad. Reminds me, I really need to order that alt. Ashlynn before they stop making it...
Mister Monkey
You can still get some the stuff through their store, but that is costly due to postage....
edonil
Yeah, but for how much better alt. Ashlynn looks, I'm willing to pay the shipping cost. I really hate the pose on regular Ashlynn...
Mister Monkey
I dont mind that model, but the alt is nicer..... How is work tonight? Better then last night?
edonil
Work is better, yeah. Brain was in a bit of the start of a nasty feedback loop earlier, but got snapped out of it, so doing a lot better right now.
Mister Monkey
That is good to hear....
edonil
Indeed. Hate those moods, they're a bit of a bastard. Anyway, now I'm doing a little research on painting/basing 10mm figures...want to try painting the Praetorians before my DzC starter shows up. ---------- Post added at 03:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:16 AM ---------- Out of curiosity, how do you go about basing your FoW and historical stuff, Monkey? Mister Monkey
Painting and basing should be done carefully at that scale....... *grin*
edonil
Yeah, I kinda figured that much out, lol.
Mister Monkey
I find with 15mm at least nice clean colours with good contrast.
edonil
What do you mean?
Mister Monkey
Dont go too nuts with highlights..... pick colours where definite edges will show up.
edonil
...so my plan of dark blues, purples and such for night time camo might be too subtle to actually see? Well, that could suck.
Mister Monkey
Dark blue armour with a mid purple suit under could work.... and a light face and hands
edonil
Cool. I'll give it a try. Thanks! With the second question, though, what kinds of material do you use for basing?
Mister Monkey
What sort of terrain are you after.....?
edonil
Probably urban and rubble.
Mister Monkey
Hmm maybe just the old fine sand painted and drybrushed, with some bigger pieces as rubble..... you got two options, keep it super simple or go nuts on bases and make them more the centrepiece. edonil
In that case, simple it is, at least for now. I may get more ambitious later, lol.
Mister Monkey
Fair enough, Flames at least has gotten to the point where a lot of guys have amazing bases and it can carry an average paintjob.....
edonil
Yeah, I've seen some really neat stuff for Flames of War. I think once I've got some more experience with the scale I'll work on that kind of stuff. Maybe with PHR or something, I'm not sure I want to put that much effort into the Colonial Marines, lol. Mister Monkey
Yeah fair enough, this your two player set stuff?
edonil
It will be, yeah. I bought a blister of UCM Praetorians a while back that I figure I can paint up by the 28th, though, so I want to work on those.
