Mako
Ooo ooo paint a squirrel! *grin* Is it bad that I want a licence plate surround that says: Blifterstone, New Pennsyltucky A real City and state
edonil
...That would be awesome. O.O And no, I'm not painting a squirrel, lol
Mako
No squirrel? Umm, a platypus? Wombat? Dr dinosaur?
edonil
...something simple would be preferred...haven't ever tried freehand, lol
Mako
Eyes are quite simple, and with a few loose wavy lines above it it looks like the ten thunders logo. ---------- Post added at 04:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:29 AM ---------- The key is to use barely coloured water and a fine brush tip to sketch the lines out first, then gently bulk them up little by little. edonil
Hm. That is a good place to start. I'll figure out something, I'm sure...just need to get some writing done first, lol. ---------- Post added at 11:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:30 PM ---------- ...no wonder my few attempts never worked. Always had too much paint. Weird.
Mako
Yeah, it's odd but freehand is best done with lots of really faint brush strokes to make one line, rather than an actual big line. You going to get all the scenes written out tonight then? Lol
edonil
Oh good lord no. I'll be happy if I get done with the party scene, for some reason Elle likes starting those kinds of scenes but hates writing them. Unfortunately, it's the best way to develop out where I want to take Soli's plot.
Mako
Hmm, to push on and get the last bit of skin done tonight, or not? Shouldn't take too long really, so I might grab a drink and get back onto it. Or I could stop, and sculpt a little. Choices, choices ---------- Post added at 04:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:38 AM ---------- Lol, never useful when you get abandoned mid scene because she's gotten bored! edonil
Hopefully she won't this time, I've got some more interesting characters to play off of. Hmm...draw a card. High, painting, low, sculpt. Joker, get some tea.
Mako
Ah. I already got a cup of tea. But the other two sound like a plan! ---------- Post added at 04:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:44 AM ---------- Well, 13:rams. Can't get much higher, so I guess it's painting! Lol. Just some finishing bits to do, so shouldn't take too long I hope
edonil
Yeah, I'd say that worked well, lol.
Mako
Heh yeah, a 7 would have been a pain to flip! Almost done the painting though now, so I might sculpt once I'm done. Just til I'm sleepy
edonil
Which project you going to sculpt? Lucius or the girl?
Mako
Girl I think, she's in Fimo so can be stopped whenever I feel like it. Lucius takes a lot of work to do sections of, just because of the size of him lol
edonil
By the way, Fimo is ridiculously expensive in stores... $4 for a little square that was...52 grams?
Mako
Its not amazingly cheap, but those squares actually go a long way. My entire green justice crew didn't use half of one I don't think, and the 100mm tall demon hasn't used up a whole one. I bought two, and am a third of the way down the second after sculpting those, the harpy, some seishin, Jaakuna, my breach runner model, a 1 inch tall bust, and new bases for my night terrors. ---------- Post added at 05:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:25 AM ---------- And then he realises he's actually done a fair bit of sculpting recently... edonil
Hm. Apparently sculpting isn't as resource heavy as I thought...
Mako
You'd be surprised how thin things actually are, and how little mass they have. Plus, inside the Fimo there's a wire and a layer of green stuff so you use less. Lol
edonil
Ah, okay.
Mako
Ahh, fiddling with tiny tiny details. Had almost forgotten what that was like!
edonil
Good or bad thing?
Mako
Pain in the neck, but quite nice since I can relax and just focus on it ---------- Post added at 05:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:53 AM ---------- She's coming on quite well actually, lower half is done, just working on the arms and front of the torso
edonil
Oh, steampunk detail...yeah, that's super finnicky.
Mako
Yah, I'm not going too crazy since she's pretty tiny. And she's only a bit steampunky. Still a bit fiddly though, got to do a tiny pair of goggles soon!
