edonil
They probably already are on the first steps. Reminds me, have you guys seen those hologram singers they've made? It's kind of impressive, they managed to get 3d images working on a flat screen for live concerts of all things.
Mister Monkey
I have heard of them Ed but never seen footage of one.
Mako
That is pretty wild. Kind of makes you wonder what they'll think of doing next! They do love their tech...
edonil
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlTZ0IWfVBQ Sharing purely because it's impressive. The fact that they have two of them makes my head hurt for the programmers...
Mako
That's... both amazing and slightly creepy. Lol

edonil
Y'know? lol. Uncanny valley is getting a wee bit closer. Still, it's quite impressive.
Mako
They are almost nudging the uncanny valley, in movement if not looks... Soon no one will know who's real and who's not! Hehe ---------- Post added at 08:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:33 AM ---------- Actually, I'd quite like a Sophie hologram. So I can occasionally tell her to stop it *grin*
edonil
I'm surprised you haven't tried to draw/sculpt her, Mako.
Mako
I would, only if I made a mistake or didnt get it perfectly right she might go on strike...
edonil
Good point... That's okay, Elle's a (very) Ascended NPC from a long abandoned project, lol. She's actually mellowed out on the crazy bloodthirst over the years...which says a bit about where she started. O.o
Mako
Eep. Back then she must have been... *shudders*
edonil
Pretty much. On the whole, most of my characters were. Arias' original incarnation practically reveled in combat. I blame those years reading 40k novels, lol.

edonil
Heh, they are the ultimate Brain Candy, even Dan Abnett's mystery stuff.
Mako
Well, you've matured a lot as an author since those days!
edonil
Heh, thanks. Now if I can leverage that into finishing projects, I'll be happy, lol. Oh my fething head. (rubs temples) This week is not fun.

edonil
Not close enough, lol. But true. So, working on anything? Or just staring at the screen instead of the ceiling?
Mako
A little of column a, a little of column b... Lying here staring while my brain tries to solve the little niggling problems of terrain design. Building a whole mining town that won't take up my entire storage space is proving interesting. edonil
Do it in small chunks for storage purposes.
Mako
Aye, it the nature of the making it small that's currently amusing me. Th best way to have it look big and impressive but not actually stay that big. Without a lot of building it, like terraclips takes.
edonil
Do the Sarrisa approach. Have things be stackable, which will help things be modular. So, rather than a building with a water tower as one pice, you have the building and water tower separate. (bad example, but you get the idea)
Mako
I may have gone one step further. I think I've figured out how to make buildings that are partly modular, but all the modules then pack down better. Just been tinkering with designs and ideas, using sketchup to test the theory before making the test pieces.
edonil
...huh. That sounds interesting. So, what kind of mining village? Old West, Steampunk, Scifi, Modern...?
