SteamHammer
I haven't even looked at them since I put them together. I'll probably need to green stuff them and Yamaziko's cloak before painting.
edonil
Probably a good plan. I know I intend to when I get back to painting, that's for sure. Hey, how was your mom's visit?
SteamHammer
Good, she doesn't outstay her welcome unlike my dad. Always nice to see them in small amounts. I ate way too much while she was here as she wants to do the cooking (yay!) but serves up mountainous plate fulls (boo!). I suppose I could count it as an early Christmas meal. Any plans for Thanksgiving/nightmare shopping day(s)?
edonil
Thanksgiving is going to be a quiet day at home. Black Friday will be spent in an 8 hour RPG session most likely...should be interesting. O.o
SteamHammer
Which RPG?
edonil
Star Wars Saga Edition. Haven't played in a while, but it should be interesting. What's going to be crazy is that I've got a shapeshifter with alter egos written up, so I have five characters (at the moment) bound into one, lol. SteamHammer
Sounds fun but would only make me want to replay KOTOR again. Watching the clone wars is bad enough.
edonil
Heh, last time I tried to replay that one, the game crashed as I got to the fight with Bastila. Less than happy with that...
SteamHammer
Not good. I don't think I ever had KOTOR 1 or 2 crash on me. Must have got lucky.
edonil
2 was disappointing and frustrating at the end of it all. It's annoying how often Bioware gets forced to rush their games.
SteamHammer
That was Obsidian but I agree, the rushed ending was a wasted opportunity. Still a great game but could have been even better.
edonil
Heh, I just hated running into the ending and getting beat down as hard as I was. I was playing a dual saber weaponmaster, with most of my powers geared to aoe. Meant I was great for crowd clearing. Got to Kreia at the end of the game...and bounced. Hard. Even on easy, lol. SteamHammer
Definitely a fight where I'd hide behind pillars and try and take out the weapons one at a time.
edonil
If I had the save file, I'd definitely try that, lol. I only rented the game, sadly, have no idea if that file exists anywhere now. Might try to track the game down again sometime, though. Right now, the only video gaming I'm doing is another play through of Dragon Age: Origins, and then I'll be doing another run through Dragon Age II, get a second file up and running for when III comes out. SteamHammer
Both great games. Like always before a new release I just keep hoping they won't screw it up. Please don't waste time and effort trying to add multiplayer to it. Or making it a vast non linear Skyrim type game.
edonil
Skyrim is a great game, but I agree with you, it's not what I'm looking for from DA:III. Skyrim I play for the sandbox, Dragon Age and Mass Effect I play for the story.
SteamHammer
Exactly. Skyrim is a great sight seeing holiday but terrible for any story. Linearity allows for much more control.
edonil
Indeed. I just finished ME3, actually, and have to say that I was pretty satisfied with the end. Bittersweet, but it fit. Have some quibbles with it, of course, and I had the extended cut, but still, it worked well. And I'm really looking forward to the next Dragon Age, it's interesting to see the same team working on two very different methods of storytelling. ME following a single character, whereas DA seems to be more focusing on turning points in a story larger than the characters.
SteamHammer
I had no problems with the ME3 ending. I haven't seen the extended one as I'll do that on my next playthrough (Renegade Sheppard). Hopefully we can finally get rid of the current set of mages in DA. edonil
I dunno, I liked Merill, personally. Then again, she was one of...two characters I liked out of that grouping, lol. The other being Varric. Playing the original made me really miss that cast of characters, I liked most of them. I'm playing a dual weapon Rogue and running around with Leliana, Morrigan and Alistair, it's hilarious whenever they chat, and so far it's working pretty well. SteamHammer
I liked Merill and Morrigan. It's the NPC mages you bump into who turn to blood magic at the drop of a hat. I really want to support them again persecution but they just make it so easy to hate. "Doopy-doo. What a wonderful morning, it's great being a mage. What's this? Someone's finished the milk. Noooooo, time to invite a demon into me and turn into a twisted monstrosity!".
edonil
Yeah...yeah...lol. Well, I didn't help mine out any since my one playthrough of a mage in the first game was a Blood Mage/Spirit Warrior...certainly made things interesting. Just went upkeep heavy and tapped my health for anything offensive, then grabbed a shield and a sword with the Blood Dragon armor.
SteamHammer
I don't think I've finished either of the games as a mage. Started a character but it was too soon after finishing it as another type so gave up.
edonil
I finished the first game as a mage (and lost the file, much to my annoyance) and a warrior, and I finished the second as a rogue. Rogue was a lot more fun in II than in Origins, I have to say.
SteamHammer
Rogue was overpowered in II, at least you sort of had to stay on the flanks in the first one. Poor meat shield fighters, they never get any love these days.
