Absolution Black
One thing about words that amuses me is the difference between us and the US. We say 'tap', you say 'fawcett'. Where does that come from? I have visions of all Americans straining to turn the water on! We say 'rubbish' , you say 'trash' or 'garbage'. We say 'pavement', you say 'sidewalk' which makes so much more sense! I just wonder where these differences originate? I guess a trip to Wikipedia (that fountain of all knowledge! ) is needed. Answer me this one, oh Egg of the Wise: Why do you say Colour and we say color? or Labour and labor? Or what about Pants vs. Shorts vs. knickers vs. whatever other synonyms you can think of? I always wondered how the change between the Queen's English and American English came about....

I'm wondering if its a civil war, or independence thing? I don't know much about it but didn't you defeat the brit influenced forces and get independence? I could be totally wrongg, history is not my strong point! If thats the case, maybe it was to separate yourselves from us?
