I have seen that many painters dot the eyes of their models.

I use another method that i think gives a better result.

Sorry for the rough pictures but i made them in photoshop quickly.

First picture is suppsoed to be a models eye that is painted white. I assume that the model have been basecoated black.

Now i paint a vertical line in the eye. Some ppl may think it would look reptilian but when its finished it doesnt.

Next start to paint black in the edges of the eye. may want to water out you colour here, thats what i do. In that way is slides down in the rescesses of the eye. and then youre done. But this isnt something i always get right every time.

Sometimes i have to go back and fill in with white if i painted to much black etc. Just that doted eye look so staring.

Any sort of tutorials are always a welcome sight.

I remember seeing another guide on painting eyes (for larger miniatures) where the top and bottom of the iris is cut off by the eyelids. At a small scale there isn't much room for detail so the line does the same thing. You assume the rest of the eye really is there but under the top and bottom eyelids.

Well, look in the mirror at your eyes and you'll see what I mean.
