Waldo's Weekly - See You at the Crossroads

Hey Wyrdos!

This week, Waldo's been tormenting us with his newfound hobby: playing the triangle. None of us knew such a small thing could make such a terrible noise, but Waldo won't let any of us stop his stage-diving, ear-shredding triangle solos. At least he didn't take up the kazoo, the most dastardly of instruments...

To give him some competition, we decided to bring out Malifaux's most infamous band. If you caught our live game with Dead Aussie Gamer during Gen Con last week (or on our YouTube channel), you’ll know all about how dangerous and interesting the Crossroads Seven can be. Maybe some of you want to include them in your TTB campaigns, or start off your adventures in Malifaux by using one of the Seven as a great plot hook... but you just don’t know where to start.

Luckily, you no longer need worry about getting backstage passes or exclusive meet and greets. This free Augment includes all seven band members for Fatemasters to include in their campaigns. But be careful: the Crossroads Seven get more powerful when they’re together with Talents like Destructive Performance and Resonance. Make sure not to overwhelm your Fated with star power! If you’re not sure where to start, here are some quick run-downs:

  • Envy brings his crushing mechanical organ into battle, equipped with heavy Gatling guns and Armor. He can steal Conditions from Fated, allowing him to become even more powerful.
  • Pride is defensive, forcing players to suffer damage if they attack him or Cheat Fate… and of course, he can prevent them from Cheating altogether.
  • Lust moves her enemies around, making her frustratingly hard to hit. She also makes them more susceptible to damage. If her targets draw near, she can convince her bandmates to launch an attack in her stead.
  • Sloth fittingly deals out Slow like it’s going out of style, and can take lots of damage before going down.
  • Gluttony loves nothing more than taking healing from the Fated and using it on himself instead, turning this Enforcer into a tough and Wounds-heavy tank.
  • Wrath harms those who fail Willpower duels, and can even turn allies against one another. His host of ghoulish Sorrows have a large engagement range, perfect for dealing with multiple foes at once.
  • Greed steals Soulstones and positive flips and uses them for herself. She’s great against players that rely heavily on those flips to get the job done.

That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. Come over to the forums and let us know whose autograph you’d want and how you’re planning to use the Crossroads Seven! Or, if you’re feeling groovy, you can pick up The Crossroads Seven box from our webstore or your local gaming spot!
