  1. Currently, Ripples of Fate and the M3E Ten Thunders book are both full of stories and profiles regarding the Oni, but The Obsidian Gate is definitely a great resource too!
  2. Without giving too many spoilers so you can still dive into the lore yourself, the oni are creatures/spirits native to the Beyond, which is separate from other places (like Earth is separate from Malifaux).
  3. Clarification! Fatemasters can adjust a character's Rank Value for the purposes of difficulty, and the same principal was applied here. A Puppeteer can select any Doll with the Peon or Minion Rank; however, if they expend the time and energy, they can elect to upgrade that Doll's Rank Value to that of Enforcer (normally giving a maximum Rank Value of 8). This lets Puppeteers choose if they want to invest in lots of little puppets, or a few that are quite strong and allow the Fated character to hold their own against bigger threats. Example: A Puppeteer can make a Wicked Doll (normally a Rank Value 5 Minion) into an Enforcer with a Rank Value of 8, as long as the prerequisites and costs are all met. Hope this helps!
  4. Clarification incoming! Walking Fortress applies only when characters would specifically gain permanent Wounds from a source; not increased Resilience or anything else that adds Wounds as a side effect. The pursuit step grants +1 Wound once per other Talent, so Walking Fortress would grant +1 Wound from Unnatural Vigor. Tough Enough's temporary Wounds are a buffer. They do not count as permanent, nor are they ever added when calculating effects regarding a character's total Wounds or health. Headliners cannot permanently increase their Aspects except through Bauble Upgrades. Temporary increases still apply. They may be healed as normal, as their Wounds aspect wouldn't technically "increase"; it's just returning to its original value after being reduced. Puppets are strange creatures and certainly a bit different from other Constructs. Discuss with your Fatemaster if a Manifested Power/Tactical Action could affect your Puppet. Otherwise, get that Stitching Skill up and study up on some specific Magia!
  5. While below half health, a Painkiller with this Talent: -Does not end her Focused Condition at the end of her turn. -May discard a card to gain Focused +1 (max Focused +3). Waldo stole our extra conjunctions, so we wrote it that way...
  6. The materials used in construction are mostly there to provide Fatemasters and Fated with some idea of what things would cost in Malifaux. For example, creating one of the legendary Coryphee or Mannequins is going to be much more expensive than making a Marionette. A bit of cloth and some sticks, however, is going to let a Fated make a much cheaper (and usually weaker) Doll. The same goes for which materials go with which Doll. This is mostly just based on visual cues. A vast majority of puppets are cloth with some wood. More complex ones, like Stitched Together and any mechanical Doll, are going to need those rarer materials like mechanical components. If ever in doubt, you and the Fatemaster/player can work together and find a compromise. Maybe a Songster gets a positive flip on some Checks if it has a nicer instrument, or if you decide to make it out of metal instead of wood and cloth. Ultimately, it's a guide: players shouldn't feel too bogged down trying to get every single bit and bob when making a puppet, so we clumped the most common ingredients together. And the Red Caps and Stuffed Knights are bigger than normal puppets but a bit smaller than your average human, so they just hit that Height 2 threshold!
  7. Yes- Fated playing as Puppets will need their own Twist Deck to make flips and actually play the game (see Step 14 of the Core rules for how to do this). While a Destiny isn't necessary, players should feel free to flip cards from the main deck and assign those to their Mind, Body, Root, and Endeavor Destiny Steps; they just wouldn't gain any Aspect changes or Skills from those steps. They also exchange the "Just a Bit of Consciousness" Talent (pg. 117 in From Nightmares) for the "I Am Real" Talent on pg. 119, which gives some more information about how to make Fated Puppet characters.
  8. All Talents are written to have Requirements built into their profile, as a vast majority of them do require having some prerequisite before a character can take them. A Talent with no Requirements means anyone, including Fated and Fatemaster characters, can take it.
  9. Hey Wyrdos! As all of you must know, Waldo is only one of two people in the office that can’t deal with spiders. Whenever one comes around, the rest of us get called to bring in the trusty Spider Containment Device (a cup and a piece of cardboard) to escort the arachnid elsewhere. When we heard Waldo’s characteristic shriek from the warehouse, we knew what to do. Except this time, it was something far more dangerous: We aren’t sure how long they’ve been lurking around, but the webbing and weird black veins on everyone’s neck made us realize we might have a real problem on our hands. Nexus’ crew is all about control. You’ll need to expend resources (usually your own creepy crawlies) to build up a web of influence, but Nexus can quickly overtake their enemies with proper positioning and the Keyword Ability “We Are Legion”. The Will of Cadmus Upgrade doesn’t hurt either. By the end of the game you’ll feel like the entire board is one living organism under your command. Who is this new creature, and what business do they have in the halls of the Explorer’s Society? Who (or what) is Cadmus? Come by the forums and let us know what you think of Nexus! That’s all for now Wyrdos, but- Do not worry. We will be back next week. We will see you then.
  10. Hey Wyrdos! It’s no secret we at Wyrd love Halloween. Some of us love the candy. Others prefer zombies and bad horror flicks. Waldo’s a fan of everything ghoulish and ghastly, and secretly loves stomping on particularly crunchy leaves. But what about things you don’t see? What about that creeping sense of dread, knowing that something evil might be lurking right around the corner? If you want to explore some of Halloween’s more psychological thrills, then we humbly suggest you spend A Night in Hallow. This new One Shot adventure for Through the Breach sees the Fated come to the contract town of Hallow, where a Carving Day festival is taking place. Everything is fine, for the most part… but nothing is as it seems. What begins as a fun evening of autumnal entertainment quickly devolves into a fight for survival that raises one question: is this real? A Night in Hallow is available on DriveThruRPG right now for only $5! If you’re planning on picking up our alt Pandora box set from your local FLGS, you’ll find those models to be great additions to this adventure. You might also want to grab Candy and Kade for Hallow’s celebrations as well. Check out the special promotion below for more information: If you leave a review on DriveThruRPG for A Night in Hallow from now until November 2, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win both the alternate promotional Candy and Kade! We’ll be randomly picking the winner at the end, so make sure to keep an eye on your inboxes. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. Stop by the forums and let us know how you’re planning to lure your Fated into Hallow, and what terrors you think might await them there… Don’t forget, our Rotten Harvest painting competition is running from now until midnight on October 31st; get those entries painted and posted to the forums! You can find more information here.
  11. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo decided he wanted to trick-or-treat a little bit early. He dumped candy onto all of our desks and paraded around, making a big show of doing costume changes and having us put candy into his small Halloween bucket. So far we’ve seen a sheet ghost, a cowboy, a Lord Chompy Bits with two fake arms, and one of Colette’s Performers. Since Waldo’s in the festive spirit, we thought it would be fun to help you bring that same spookiness to your games of Malifaux! First up is All Hallow’s Eve, a special story encounter that pits the nefarious Carver against some of Malifaux’s best schemers. They must try and escape before they’re hacked and slashed to bits. Check it out here: The second is a sweet Strategy that involves candy (not the evil child, the kind with chocolate and sugar). Crews need to go from house to house collecting this candy and avoiding tricks: score VP by chowing down on delectable treats. If you’ve got bags of Halloween goodies, this Strategy is one you can’t miss: Remember, these cards are available right now on WarGameVault and available for free right here. While you’re picking these up from WarGameVault, check out the alternate layout Carver card that matches Pandora box’s theme (also available to download here)! You can expect these special edition cards for Pandora’s alt box up on the M3E app soon. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. Come by the forums and let us know what you think of these Halloween scenarios; will you flee from the Carver, focus on getting a bunch of candy, or both? Don’t forget, our Rotten Harvest painting competition is running from now until midnight on October 31st; get those entries painted and posted to the forums! You can find more information here.
  12. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo decided he’d try his hand at crafting his own motorcycle (we think he’s still envious of Rollins Black from a few weeks ago). Waldo decided that lights, our microwave (we can’t seem to keep him away from those), some extremely high-tech equipment, and his old tricycle would make a fantastic bike. He proudly presented his light-tri-cycle (he still can’t do two wheels); we were all dumbfounded and more than a little worried for his safety. But he plunked a helmet over his horns, pressed the “on” button, and shot off. Only three trails of neon light signaled his departure. We don’t have the same level of, er, mechanical expertise that Waldo apparently does, but we can offer an adventure nonetheless! If you’re eager to explore a place in Malifaux that nobody (and we mean nobody) has ever experienced before, you can get started right now with Into the Logic Engine! In this new One Shot adventure for Through the Breach, the Fated are asked to help bring in a wayward construct for a down-on-his-luck Scavenger. But as always in Malifaux, things aren’t what they seem. A big twist, some neon lights, and one very cantankerous fish await the Fated when they go Into the Logic Engine! If you leave a review on DriveThruRPG for Into the Logic Engine within the next two weeks (from now until October 14), you’ll be entered into a drawing to win the Malifaux 1988 nightmare box! We’ll be randomly picking the winner at the end, so make sure to keep an eye on your inboxes. But if you don’t win, don’t worry! You’ll be able to grab Malifaux 1988 during our Black Friday sale. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. We’re hoping Waldo makes his way back to the office by next week; in the meantime, you can pick up Into the Logic Engine right now on DriveThruRPG for only $5. Are you excited to see Gumdrop and crew again? Wondering what her motivations might be? Is she friend or foe? Come by the forums and share your thoughts!
  13. It’s that time of year again. Zombies stir in the loose soil, spirits cut through the veil between living and the dead, Nightmares skulk in darkness, and Waldo eats far too much candy corn for his own good. Whether you’re a fan of autumnal colors or just can’t get enough pumpkin spice, let’s not forget one of the best parts of fall: Carving Day! To celebrate this spooky season, the Rotten Harvest painting contest has come back from the grave. It’s a time to showcase your skills and put paint to some of the scariest models in your collection… To enter the Rotten Harvest painting contest, all you need to do is paint a miniature and submit it here. Entries won’t be visible until voting starts, so take the time to channel your inner painting imp and make your models shine. Submissions will be accepted from October 1 up until midnight EST (UTC-5) on October 31, 2020. Any entries after the cutoff date will not be accepted- no exceptions. Please refer to our full painting contest guidelines here for more information about eligible models, number of entries, and everything else you might have questions on. This year, we have a few different categories: “It’s Alive!” (kit-bashes and conversions) Monster Hunters and Ghost Busters (dioramas with multiple models) Creep Show (single large models and/or monsters) Hello, Boils and Ghouls (single model, undead-themed) Unfathomable Horror (everything else) So what are you waiting for? Head over to the official Rotten Harvest 2020 Painting Contest thread on our forums to get the full list of prizes, specifics, and additional details. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. We can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
  14. Hey Wyrdos! If Waldo’s displays of pumpkins, strings of bats, and skulls (we don’t ask where he gets them) are any indication, it’s almost time for the spookiest season of the year! That’s right: Carving Day and the Rotten Harvest are creeping upon Malifaux once again. Light your jack o’ lanterns, grab a handful of candy, and come see what we have in store. This year, we’re releasing a second alt crew alongside Malifaux 1988. Called Witches and Woes, this box has almost everything you need to get started with the Woe keyword for the Neverborn. Pandora, her Poltergeist, and 3 Sorrows come in preassembled plastic. Packed to burst with scarecrow-y goodness, this box will be available at your local FLGS in October and November only. Get it while you can, because once it’s gone, it’s gone. After that, the only way you’ll be able to pick it up is from our webstore during special sales, like Black Friday. Even their stat cards have been given a spooky and pulpy makeover! Some sharp-eyed Malifaux players might notice there’s a mischievous pair missing from Pandora’s party. Rotten Harvest Candy and Baby Kade will be available during our promotion, so don’t lose your head! Er… maybe a poor choice of words after seeing the artwork. Sorry Candy… Keep your receipts from your local game stores; if you spend $75 from September 25 – November 8, you’ll receive your choice of Rotten Harvest Candy or Baby Kade. If you spend $150, you’ll get both! You can check out the promotion below for more rules, guidelines, and information on how to submit your receipts. Can’t grab Candy or Baby Kade right now? Fear not; they’ll be available during our Black Friday sale to purchase by themselves. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos! While Waldo untangles his candy corn lights, we’ll keep bringing you more festive content throughout this Halloween season. If you haven’t had your fill of Malifaux spookiness, stop by the forums and tell us what sorts of specters and slashers you’ll be bringing onto the table.
  15. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo decided he’d spice things up by trying his hand at fishing. He got his pole, tackle box, and hat, then proceeded to dig outside the office for some bait. After an hour or so, Waldo had only managed to wrangle a few earthworms… until the ground started to rumble and shake. It looked like Waldo’s excavating attracted the attention of an upcoming creature for the Explorer’s Society, and an existing crew: Somehow, Waldo managed to disturb one of Malifaux’s native Sand Worms and let it loose on the office’s front lawn! Sand Worms are huge and hungry predators that hunt the Badlands. Homesteaders and frontiersmen find them to be dangerous threats, and often need assistance to drive them away from farms. Take a look at its card and you’ll see why: Though adult Sand Worms can grow enormous, the one here appears to be a juvenile. It seems that with the right vibrations, certain people with the Frontier keyword (or with Explorer’s Society memberships) can call these beasts from the dunes and use them as living weapons. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. While Waldo tries to fit the Sand Worm into his bait bucket, you should stop by the forums and tell us what you think of the monstrous beastie! Will this burrowing Enforcer be key to digging your Explorer’s Society crews to victory?
  16. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo pulled up to the office on his new motorcycle. Well, what he called a motorcycle. It’s actually just a tricycle that he painted black, and makes little “vroom” noises when he pedals around. Still, our little imp has embraced the biker lifestyle, leather vest and all. Waldo sauntered up to the front desk and asked if we’d heard about the man who rode around with a couple of ladies on monowheels and a dog with more boiler than tail on his backside. Waldo scooted away on his bike before we could ask how he’d heard about the infamous Wild Ones gang… That’s right, folks: Rollins Black is back in town. But, let’s talk about Elli and Patti Ramone specifically. They’re his Rough Riders, but until now they haven’t had a place to call their own. Until the Explorer’s Society came along! The Rough Riders are a new dual keyword (Wastrel and Frontier) choice in the upcoming Explorer’s Society book. They’re expert riders with questionable morals. For the right price, they’ll dispense justice or help unscrupulous parties bring home bags of loot. What’s even better is that the alt-McCabe Wild Ones nightmare box will be available during our Black Friday sale, and will include updated cards for Elli and Patti to represent their status as Rough Riders. If you already have the box, you can pick up the new cards right now on DriveThruRPG, or check them out on the app. While the Ramones are part of the Explorer’s Society, we wanted everyone to get their Wild Ones back on the table; the remainder of the Explorers models will be available on the app following the Explorer’s Society Faction Book release! That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. We’ll let you know if Waldo makes the cut to join Rollins Black for a ride. In the meantime, come by the forums and let us know if your Wild Ones will be joining the Frontier or the Wastrels!
  17. Those are Tarots from the expansion books! WW: Waterways Tarot, Into the Bayou LL: Lifeline Tarot, Under Quarantine AL: Assembly Line Tarot, Into the Steam RH: Ram's Head Tarot, Above the Law CR stands for Crossroads Tarot, or the one in the Core Rules. If you're looking at older Chronicles adventures, there's a good chance those were written before TTB's second edition, so the Tarot tie-in might have been changed. Hope this helps!
  18. Hey Wyrdos! As you all know, Waldo is something of a cheese connoisseur. Everything from cheddar and spray cheese to those little plastic-wrapped single slices, our office imp just can’t get enough of the stuff. But this week, we saw him taking a break from his usual midnight feasting to stare up at the moon. Fearing another evil plot being concocted, we asked him why he was so curious about it. Waldo claimed he heard legends that the moon was made of cheese, and that was all he could focus on. We didn’t really have the heart to break the truth to him. But that did get us thinking about moons. Waldo might not ever reach his elusive cheese in the sky, but you can take a journey into space all on your own! In this new One Shot adventure for Through the Breach, the Fated find themselves treading the Explorer’s Society halls in response to a very curious inquiry. Malifaux has two moons… isn’t it about time somebody explored them? Who better but the Fated to undertake such an intrepid and trailblazing mission? Are you excited about Malifaux’s newest Faction? This adventure officially gives Fated the opportunity to become full-fledged members of the Explorer’s Society! If you succeed in boldly going where none have gone before, you will gain access to information and treasures unimaginable… provided you can pay the application fees, of course. James Vernon and Millicent Welles (whose faces might be familiar to those that tuned in for our Gen Con live events) star alongside the Fated in Through the Breach’s latest One Shot: Voyage to the Moon! It’s available on DriveThruRPG right now, so click here to pick up a copy and reserve your ticket into Malifaux’s atmosphere. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. Come by the forums and let us know what you think of Vernon and Welles! What mysteries do you think Malifaux’s moons might hold?
  19. Hey Wyrdos! This week, we found Waldo carrying a heavy flashlight and a sharp stick, claiming that the walls were looking at him funny and it was time somebody did something about it. Despite being confused, we all decided to wait and see what sorts of shady antics would ensue. Waldo turned out the lights and started poking around the office… and to be honest, not much happened. Until, of course, one of the shadowy corners growled. Apparently, living shadows don’t appreciate it when they get a flashlight shined directly into their eyes. We managed to catch a photograph before Waldo charged bravely into the gloom, fending off claw and fang with his trusty stick. These are Nocturnes, Minions for English Ivan’s Umbra keyword (if you haven’t seen the second new Master for the Explorer’s Society and our favorite shadowy gentleman, check out our Gen Con recap). Don’t underestimate the power of these cheap summons! English Ivan can easily pull them from the shadows of enemies with low Wp, bringing allies right into the fray. Nocturnes also gain benefits from targeting models near Shadow Markers with their Dusk Hunter ability and Displace action. Luckily, English Ivan’s crew serves up the perfect setting to make Nocturnes shine. Well, metaphorically. Because they’re shadows… get it? Anyway, take a look at their full card! That’s all for now, Wyrdos. Waldo’s been strutting around with his usual air of self-confidence now that we’ve shooed away the shadows. Unfortunately that most likely means our little imp will get into more chaos soon enough. In the meantime, let us know what your favorite Nocturne is on the forums. We’ll see you next week!
  20. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo's been tormenting us with his newfound hobby: playing the triangle. None of us knew such a small thing could make such a terrible noise, but Waldo won't let any of us stop his stage-diving, ear-shredding triangle solos. At least he didn't take up the kazoo, the most dastardly of instruments... To give him some competition, we decided to bring out Malifaux's most infamous band. If you caught our live game with Dead Aussie Gamer during Gen Con last week (or on our YouTube channel), you’ll know all about how dangerous and interesting the Crossroads Seven can be. Maybe some of you want to include them in your TTB campaigns, or start off your adventures in Malifaux by using one of the Seven as a great plot hook... but you just don’t know where to start. Click above to download the Crossroads Seven Augment! Luckily, you no longer need worry about getting backstage passes or exclusive meet and greets. This free Augment includes all seven band members for Fatemasters to include in their campaigns. But be careful: the Crossroads Seven get more powerful when they’re together with Talents like Destructive Performance and Resonance. Make sure not to overwhelm your Fated with star power! If you’re not sure where to start, here are some quick run-downs: Envy brings his crushing mechanical organ into battle, equipped with heavy Gatling guns and Armor. He can steal Conditions from Fated, allowing him to become even more powerful. Pride is defensive, forcing players to suffer damage if they attack him or Cheat Fate… and of course, he can prevent them from Cheating altogether. Lust moves her enemies around, making her frustratingly hard to hit. She also makes them more susceptible to damage. If her targets draw near, she can convince her bandmates to launch an attack in her stead. Sloth fittingly deals out Slow like it’s going out of style, and can take lots of damage before going down. Gluttony loves nothing more than taking healing from the Fated and using it on himself instead, turning this Enforcer into a tough and Wounds-heavy tank. Wrath harms those who fail Willpower duels, and can even turn allies against one another. His host of ghoulish Sorrows have a large engagement range, perfect for dealing with multiple foes at once. Greed steals Soulstones and positive flips and uses them for herself. She’s great against players that rely heavily on those flips to get the job done. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. Come over to the forums and let us know whose autograph you’d want and how you’re planning to use the Crossroads Seven! Or, if you’re feeling groovy, you can pick up The Crossroads Seven box from our webstore or your local gaming spot!

Think that’s all? We will be showing off more great stuff during these times to whet your appetites for everything Wyrd. You’ll get to see upcoming sculpts, new artwork, and more before anyone else! And, if Waldo is to be believed, maybe even a painting video or two from Mr. Angel Giraldez himself… Remember, you’ll also be able to pick up new releases and our Nightmare Box, Malifaux 1988, during our Gen Con sale. Every $100 you spend also gets you a free a free Miss Guided, who can stand in as an alt Fuhatsu. That means $200+ gets you 2, $300+ gets you 3, and so on. The Gen Con sale runs July 29th - August 4th, so make sure you get your orders in! Where Do We Go? As Gen Con 2020 will be virtual, we will be posting links next Wednesday to guide you to Wyrd events as smoothly as possible. Check out Dead Aussie Gamer on Twitch.tv We hope you’re excited for Gen Con, Wyrdos, and can’t wait to see you there! After you check out Third Floor Wars and Dead Aussie Gamer, why not pop by our forums and start speculating? What are you hoping to see? What are you most excited about?
