Terrifying and Take the Hit

If a model with both terrifying and take the hit uses take the hit, does the attacking model have to pass the wp duel or is the attack considered to be past that point?

Also if a model with terrifying is attacked, does another model take the hit before or after the attacker  performs the wp duel?

Every ability that uses "when" will only occur as a result of something else, it just can't happen after for the majority of them because otherwise they wouldn't work. So yeah, the ability timing works as a RAW fallback to keep combat finesse working as intended, but honestly that text just doesn't even make sense in the context of how "when" abilities work, because there's no real way to argue that an ability that happens "when" X occurs isn't talking about a specific timing for when they apply in result to a game effect.

Additionally, abilities that happen "while" a condition is met exist for creating a sort of on/off switch if the situation changes in the middle of resolving an action.

Honestly Combat Finesse should be while just for consistencies sake, since every other "when" ability has to be "when" because they are changing how an effect resolves or they only have an effect at that specific timing point. Although, concealment uses the same text as Combat Finesse, but not being an ability it doesn't even have the Ability Timing rule as a fall back to keep it working as intended.
