Bury & Collect the Bounty

asrian

Question

This question came up between a player and myself during a game. We're mainly curious what other people say about it as he's going to a tournament soon and it might end up effecting what he does during the game.

If models are buried at the end of the game (say Bete Noire for instance), would they count towards the opponent's bounty points for turn 5 when playing the Collect the Bounty strategy?

Page 54 of the small rulebook: Dead & Buried - "...models that are buried at the end of the game count as killed for Encounter victory purposes."

With Assassinate this is pretty cut and dry as it just specifies that when the target is killed you score. It never specifies who has to kill/sac the target.

Collect the Bounty, however, says, "Whenever an enemy model is killed or sacrificed, the acting model's controller scores a number of Bounty Points depending on the type of model which was killed or sacrificed."

It talks about the acting model (the one that killed the enemy), but in the case of Dead & Buried would that still count. The model is buried, thus killed for encounter purposes, so would the original model that killed it count as scoring it? Would the enemy player count in the case of Bete or Leve burying themselves, or Tara burying a friendly model at the last second?

After reading over everything I don't think Buried models, such as Bete, would count for Collect the Bounty, only models that were actively killed during the game itself, but I'm curious what others have to say about it.

I think it's clear that only models killed during an activation count for this strategy. Models killed by conditions or abilities triggered by conditions during the end of turn step (e.g. Burning causing Black blood) wouldn't count either.
